I’ve been a big fan of the manga for years. One of my favorite aspects of the entire series is Miyako’s character growth. She went from ready to sell Ai and the children out for a quick yen to growing so attached to the family that she willingly adopted the children after AI’s death.

I can't even tell you how many times parts of this episode were spoiled for me before I had the chance to watch it, including the end. When I did finally see it, none of what was spoiled mattered because actually seeing it myself with context made all the difference. I knew already what would happen, but throughout the episode I forgot about all of it because I finally knew why. And even now without fail, its not the part when she says "I love you" that gets me its when she says "Ah, I was finally able to say it" because it was one thing for her _to_ say it, but she knew this time that she meant it, and for me every time I hear that line it feels like someone punched me in the chest. The rest of the show so far now too following this has been really good, I might even just find the manga and read it all too

really really liked your reaction, a few things that i'd like to bring up & i'll probably just list them in a random order as they come to mind! 1. first of all, i fully get & agree with your objection to the whole "lies are love" topic, and i feel like as an "ordinary" person, many would agree that lies, for whatever reason they may be told, are never actually a "good" thing. in ai's case, being an idol and all, lying is kind of what's expected of her, as she herself & her president pointed out. many fans just want to see purely the good & happy sides of their favorite celebrity, and don't want to acknowledge that those people they admire are just as human as anyone else & have their own struggles, or at the very least, they know but don't want to *see* it, which is just incredibly messed up all around. what she was doing was basically "fake it 'til you make it," which i do think can work in some cases, but obviously it can also be very harmful and dangerous depending. i feel the president kind of gave her two chances there, one to be an idol, and two to get out and try to explore her understanding of love & how to express it, since she'd never really gotten the chance to before. it was basically "fake it 'til you make it," which i do think can work in some cases, but obviously it can also be very harmful and dangerous depending. 2. and speaking of her president, he did care a lot about ai, it was just that he knew ai genuinely wanted to keep being an idol & so he kept reminding her of the risks. that being said, he never actually told her *not* to have her kids, he just kept checking in if she was sure about her decision. and when she said yes, he did what he could to protect her secret, for both of their sakes. 3. you're actually the first person i saw that voiced my exact thoughts on the scene with kana (the redhaired child actor). so many people i've watched react to this just passed her off as an arrogant & stuck up brat, but like. no child *naturally* reacts like that. sure, there was overconfidence too, but her literally begging them to redo the scene because she felt she wasn't as good as aqua & crying that she could do better...dunno where i'm going with that, just found it nice to see someone not immediately go "bitchy kid" without giving it any further thought. aaaand that's it for my rant, hoo boy i can never cut these short somehow...anyway, hope everyone's having a nice day!

Kana's outburst is also a manifestation of the immense and unfair pressure that is put on child stars. All her life, everybody has told her she's the best, so naturally she needs to be the best. And when she found herself not measuring up to Aqua, she couldn't handle it and broke. It really illustrates the high expectations people have for children, especially those they deem "gifted."

5:50 16 is the age of consent in Japan, so, her being pregnant is legally acceptable, just like the doctor saying he'd have to wait until Sarina was 16 to marry her. Too many Westerner reacters freaked out about this facet of this anime, even if 16 feels mighty young to be committing to such serious life choices. 7:15 For a lot of idols, their career is their life, at the time. Him being her agent, and not her family, I imagine he is concerned about what is in his scope of care. 10:30 There would be NO idols if they told the truth. We may all get squeamish at hearing it like it is, but, being an idol is 100% contingent on image. To choose an idol's life is to commit to perfecting a public character. This anime just does a great job at telling that truth. 14:45 The symbolic stars in the kids' eyes are to represent what about them they are because of their mother. 16:00 Never struck me as so much of a conservative. 48:45 If you go back and look again, you can see the stalker approach his body. Must have taken measures to hide it. Btw, "lolicon" is someone attracted to young looking girls, basically, in animes, usually a more humorous jab at people than the more morally intense accusations. Had the doctor positively responded to Sarina's "advances," he would be seen as an actual lolicon.

That thing with "the age of consent is 16 so an adult can have a sexual relationship with a minor and marry a minor" is bull shit Ive seen so many people say that and it’s horribly wrong. A lot of places have the age of consent set at 16 but it’s still illegal for an adult to sleep with a minor because the laws are more complicated than that. He knew she would die soon and told he‘d marry her when she’s sixteen as a little lie to make her happier. Nothing against you mate but I thought it was necessary to say that

Sadly that's how Idol culture is in Asian countries. They aren't allowed to have relationships as it will ruin their career and the company. Idols are promoted as pure beings to sickos and if they are in relationships or even have kuds they will lose their fanbase. Look at the recent VA of Nezuko, she gotten a bf and she lost a lot of fans. It's a sad sick reality of fans and this show does a great job exposing that dark side of entertainment.

It wouldn't matter if every single thing the public thought of her was a lie, if it does the job of entertaining the public, and maintaining a picture of beauty and immaculate love, it means they are succeeding. 1:07:29 Nothing about the stalker ever lends credence to the stalker being the father. A bit to add to that is he's also the president of the agency, and as mentioned it was a rather small agency which she was a major face of. I do think a lot of it was reminding her, but I do think he was also worried about the company and careers of everyone working there if a scandal happened. It's one of those mindsets you have to get into when in a position like that, which can look like a really crappy and selfish position, but there's many that rely on the company that they do have to worry about since they're looking at a bigger picture.

For the record since I've seen a lot of misinformation on what a Lolicon is I'll give the direct meaning. 1. In Japanese popular culture, lolicon is a genre of fictional media in which young girl characters appear in romantic or sexual contexts. The term, a portmanteau of the English words "Lolita" and "complex", also refers to desire and affection for such characters, and fans of such characters and works. 2. In Japanese popular culture, lolicon is a genre of fictional media in which young (or young-looking) girl characters appear in romantic or sexual contexts. Basically it's just being into "young" or young looking characters or girls. It's not exclusively sexual either as there's various ways to look at it. For example the characters from a old anime named Lucky Star all fall under the "young looking" side because the art style focused on petite cute character designs. Folks who try and exclusively say it's about young kids are wrong simply because it's a general term for either A. Looking young (being a loli) or B. Being into young looking girls (Being a lolicon). Now of course there's people out there who hide behind the term as a excuse for liking actual children but they by and large aren't the norm and are usually equally as hated by actual lolicon's as they are by everyone else. Also the term loli came from Lolita which is a actual type of fashion that's entire purpose is to look cute and younger. It's a very popular fashion style in Japan as well.

The whole age system are WAY different there than in most other countries. I looked it up because it sounded strange and found that since like 1907 the age of consent was 13 or something like that and was recently raised to 16 if I understood it right. It's still a very young age tho. Even the legal adult age was different. It was 20 for years but again, it recently got lowered to 18. If I misunderstood any of these informations, anyone feel free to corrent me.
@MxMoondoggie
@MxMoondoggie Жыл бұрын
16 is the legal age of consent in many countries around the world so it;s not the most strange thing in the world. The law was changed as a part of an overhaul of sexual offence laws. Regional laws have existed for years in pretty much every regional government of Japan that bans lewd acts with anybody under the age of 18 but this change will make things more clear and give courts more power to prosecute crimes. They've also changed a bunch of definitions as before they could only prosecute if they can prove violence or cohesion were used. Now things like upskirting can be prosecuted more heavily and child sex crimes are made more clear by definition. It's a long overdue overhaul of these things as Japan has been behind on sex crimes, especially against children for years. It wasn't even that long ago that they fully banned CP and made ownership a crime and made laws to stop child prostitution. 20 has been the age you're legally classed as an adult for decades. Lowering it to 18 means that 18 year olds will have more rights to make decisions, get their own passport, enter work contracts, get married and so on without parental permission. This doesn't extent to changing the legal age for drinking, smoking, gambling on horse racing, etc which will still remain 20.
@hagahong3327
@hagahong3327 Жыл бұрын
To add to@@MxMoondoggie 's comment, age of consent is rather complicated in Japan. Between 13 to 16 years old, sexual acts are not an offence only if BOTH parties involved are at the same or similar age. iirc a gap of 1 or 2 years (for example, one is 13 and the other 15) is enough to elevate the case to minor offense of the law already. 20yo in a relationship with a 15yo could be considered felony. Low age of consent is only to tolerate young people being stupid, not to allow being willingly and actively pedophilic.

"Lies are love" and the entire first episode is lying to the viewers. It's lying about who is the main character and about the actual plot of the anime. Ai was *THE* poster child for the anime. There weren't any ads without her. There are 2 separate plot lines in the anime itself. One is the "dark side of Japanese entertainment industry", showcasing how rotten it is. Like in the 1st episode, the TV people shit talking B-Komachi literally in front of them, Ai being cut out of the drama and the whole fact that she has to lie to keep her job. There will be more moments like these, even more grim than Ai's death. We'll get to see a really good manga adapted heartlessly and the mangaka watching it with a broken heart, we'll see a misunderstanding causing someone to get cancelled and push themself to the edge because of that. We will also see a certain stage artist not being recognised by fans and overall doing something they don't enjoy. We might also see how cutting content affects adaptations in the stage play arc if it gets adapted in the first season. On the other hand we have the revenge plot. Aqua's schemes to finding out who his father is. He will use whatever means or people necessary to achieve that goal. I don't want to spoil too much here. Some facts about the show: - Ai's death resembles the real-life stabbing of Mayu Tomita, a 20-year-old Japanese singer and actress, in May 2016. Tomita originally became famous by playing a fictional idol named Ai Takano in the web drama Secret Girls. - Arima Kana (the red head girl) is based on a real life child actress Ashida Mano who was kind of forced into the industry by her mother and her career was destroyed by that. (more on it in the next episode) - Takahashi Rie - the voice behind Ai actually went and met various medical specialists and asked them about how a person bleeding out talks so she could deliver the most accurate performance just like the manga accurately showcases its events. Oshi no Ko (probably, idk I don't monitor it) was the first *NEW* anime to reach the #1 spot on My Anime List and *_STAY THERE for 3 weeks straight_* Some other animes did that but they were either a well established title - _Kaguya season 3 and Attack on Titan,_ or a meme event caused by streamers - _Ishuzoku Reviewers_ and I don't count _Your Name_ because its story concluded at the end.

If the company wasnt helping her with the kids she probably wouldnt be making enough to raise them. They probably take those babysitting fees and stuff out of her paychecks. The Idol Industry is horrible about pay, the Number 1 Idol in the world would only make the equivilant to about 200,000 USD per YEAR. So yeah she is being underpaid for the amount of work she does, by a large margin. Compare that to what a actor in Tokyo makes being a average of 77,000 USD per year not counting bonuses or big pay days and you see just how bad the Showbiz scene in japan is. Its still enough to live a comfortable life on, but not nearly as much as the celebrities in America do.

@GazMASH Cuts! They are children. It's not for adults. It's a shame they don't get rich in middle school? I guess. Idols don't deserve all the money because they don't do all the work. The songs are written for them. There is PR. Dance coaches. Handlers. All those people have to be paid. They get to make adult money in middle school and highschool. It's not a bad gig. Nobody is forcing them to do it. They can quit at any time it happens.

Hi, i think it was a kneejerk reaction & a misunderstanding which when watching again there was a lot more going on from his character that i missed in the 1st time watching it. So many comments pointing out how much he cared and just wanted to remind Ai of what she needed to understand or fully understand. Definitely one i'd love to discuss in a livestream

You're the 5th person I've seen to get hung up on the time difference of death and rebirth. Why are people so focused on that when reincarnation in itself is a supernatural concept?
@alexanderthealright
@alexanderthealright Жыл бұрын
True, the only hard and fast rule for reincarnation/rebirth is that you have to die before you can be reborn. And even that can get a little bit fuzzy when you start getting into the whole isekai thing.

the first impression about this anime is normal, there are indeed strange things like a 16 year old child being pregnant, but the rest is fine for me. maybe it could be because I've watched a lot of anime, I also know very well how the world of idols is

The opening heavily telegraphed the ending due to her pushing them on and fading away. It's a typical ghost/memory image. Many other story points were also predictable. The stalker was Chekov's gun, set up for return in the end. I expected a more shattered or mentally split difference between her stage and private persona, considering the dark mirror image in the opening. In the end it was a bit overdramatized (the opening that is). It's a good story and thankfully avoids needless fanservice - or you cut it out. I think with an extended cut and more details, this could have been a short 1.2 to 1.5 hour proper pilot film. It still felt a bit too aggressive in the timejumps.

The source material is the manga. And like it or not, the episode omitted not a single panel from it. The goal was a faithful adaptation and by that they did an (almost) perfect job.

Depending on where ur watching ur anime at, whoever has translated it will sometimes put the lyrics on the top of the screen idk where ur watching this at but yikes to whoever put the lyrics right under the speaking subtitles this is a terrible starter anime for people new to anime cuz there's a lot of tropes in here most wont get cuz its just so funny how u think this is weird and i'm just sat here with 600 anime under my belt like _yeah idk man this is normal_ but at least Aqua didn't pull a Rudeus from Jobless Reincarnation and continued being a perv
