Great reaction - that was a whole lot of different shows stitched together into a compilation video. Their timing and performance are so good that it makes that sort of thing possible. 'Headbanger' was a song I dreamed of seeing live for myself ever since I first heard it - and they switch it up a bit every time they play it. I was so happy it was back on the set list when they played the UK and Europe at the start of 2020 so I finally got my wish.

This is a collage of many concerts covering quite a few years. Headbanger is an early BM song and one of my favorites. It's a bittersweet coming of age story about a 15 year old school girl going to a concert and braving the mosh pit, while knowing the freedom of the moment won't last long. It's used to celebrate BM birthdays and both Yui and Moa have taken the lead in it for their birthdays.

The compilation video is recent but it has parts from a whole bunch of shows of various times. I saw 'Legend of 1997' for Su's 16th birthday on Dec 21 2013. That was the show with the smoke guns. That is the earliest one i saw. If they're wearing a lot of red that is before 2017. I saw a little Tokyo Dome from 2016. Tokyo Dome was the one with the big round wraparound video screen above the stage. There was a triangle stage from a very recent concert from 2019 or 2020. There was Yokohama 2015 with the giant fox statues that breathe smoke and in other songs had lazers coming out of their eyes. The round stage that wasn't Tokyo Dome was Budokan from 2014. The big red triangle was Wembley i believe. There were others too.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 I was thrilled when they brought this song back in 2019. Even though 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the song was first released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than attending concerts like the girl in the song. Both Yui and Moa got to take over on lead vocals on this one for shows near their fifteenth birthdays. More recently both Su and Moa performed it on concerts close to their 20th birthdays, with a slight lyric change (15 to 20). The 20th birthday (age of majority or adulthood) is a very important one in Japan.

"Dogeza" 「土下座」 (= kneel & bow until forehead touches the ground) is the most dishonorable way to show unconditional surrender or apology in Japan. We never see people doing it happily and smilingly in other place than BM concerts. I understood Dogeza became the most honorable way to show strong tie among BM mates in the world when I saw many people doing it at the Forum, LA on Oct.11, 2019. I really wanted to do it this year's show but I could not, because Budokan is all-seater arena. I am afraid, however, that Su-Metal looks like a shaman of evil religion to people who knows nothing about BM 😅.

I would prefer Legend of 1997 but that is a good compilation. The person who did this has some real nice ones. I really like the 'Catch Me If You Can'. I just don't agree that all compilations are bad. Especially now with everything getting blocked so much. You can just tell that a lot of love and hard work goes into the good compilations.

It's just too soon to criticize what the "Living Legend" chapters might bring of good (or bad) to Babymetal on stage. About not being on top of metal, you do know "Metal Galaxy" album peaked high in the UK\US charts right ? True, they haven't being doing nothing new lately but that's due to the Covid pandemy not Babymetal's fault, they need live shows (going on tour) to introduce the new songs first hand on stage to the fans.

From the end of BM (the one you like) to the return of Yuimetal (my favorite) and everything else in between. There's a theory for every taste, really :) After the pandemy, I'll see which one is closest to reality.
