Not only that but a pretty altruistic individual too. He helped my partially sighted father carry his luggage off the train they were alighting at Newcastle Central. My Dad here's this voice "Can I help you with your case Mister?" cos Paul had seen him with dark glasses & a cane & the station assistant hadn't arrived yet. This was only about 4 or 5 years ago, Gazza had long since retired & obviously had been treated, so just shows what a humble lad he is, aware of those who are also vulnerable themselves.

I agree apart from your terminology, nowadays players are ‘produced’, as you said, Gascoigne was most definitely not, he was naturally talented, a product of environment. Again, I know there in a different league, but same as Maradona, supremely naturally gifted with a skill set that I haven’t seen matched to this day.

Motherwell fan. Watched Gazza loads of times at probably the peak of his career at Rangers. In terms of natural ability he was on a different level from any other footballer I've seen. No one close. With less injuries and more professionalism he could have been one of the all time greats.

I’m of the age now 58 and have seen many great footballers come and go and some still playing. I had the privilege of watching gazza and co at the 1990 World Cup semi final match. What a day. And we lost. Best player for England for sure. he cried when he got that yellow. That’s passion for what he wanted and what he wanted for the fans. 👏🏻

He never wasted it because he had no control over his addictions and OCD. In fact, it's remarkable he got as far as he did given these handicaps. Met him once in Ranelagh, Dublin. Came over to us lads hanging out, chatted, took a swig out of one of our 2-litres of cider. Special guy, I liked him, even though he went to Rangers.

I saw him on his first day at Rangers training in Pollok Park, a young Rangers fan with a Rangers top on was standing next to a the water bottle bag, Gazza said to him, give me a water bottle ( I think he thought he was a younger squad member) I think he got a bottle orange Lucozade. John Brown training the young guys at the side of the park, smashing balls into the 5-a-side nets. Thanks for the memories Gazza we loved you.❤️🤍💙

as a child I was brought up on Moore, Beckenbauer, Pele, Charlton, Best etc. Since they passed into the grey mists of time (or the US soccer league) only one player has consistently produced a smile on my face no matter what. Thank you for reminding me of his genius. And for those into the DEI game - when the women can do that in the same circumstances - then they can have the same money!
