Hey Timmy, first of all, thanks for the great and kind commentary on this match. And to everyone, yes, I know full well what I got into playing this deck at the Raging Bull Series. Great tournament by the way, run by Richard Veenman! This match was lopsided, but my other matches were een close affair and a lot of fun. I choose to play budget decks in OS and that means running into games like this. It does not make OS less fun for me. For me, it's all about the community and slinging the cards I love. And sometimes you get a great run. I am co-organizer of the Uthden Troll Cup and last weekend we had 203 players playing Old School. A powerless deck playing Uthden Trolls did very well! ( I won't spoil it). So enjoy the games, the community and may you always have strip mine in your opening hand!

Man, I just discovered your channel and I am so glad for it. I'm completly jaded by modern magic and all these crossover things. But you reignited a spark in me! I even reinstalled the old MTG video game from Microprose (I had to virtualize Windows XP for it! haha!)

Same man. New magic is getting on my nerves. Old school all the way.

I guess the newest news in modern magic will bring even more players to the old school formats. :-)

Great commentary, sweet to see some boar action! OS is incredible unbalanced, but that's what you sign up for when you attend an event. Always feels great when an unpowered list manages to sneak a win, but today was - sadly for Richard - not the day. 🍻
@TimmytheSorcerer18 күн бұрын
Thanks :D There are many different reasons to play. Richard told me later that this was pretty much his childhood deck. He actually got a couple of game wins and got an award for most flavourful deck.

Can't fault a guy for having the cards, but I definitely had good fun watching that stapleless tournament you filmed
@rifkolosi20 күн бұрын
you cant fault a guy for possession of those cards, but you can limit the usage of overpowered decks by xpoints.
@TimmytheSorcerer18 күн бұрын
Stapleless was great for sure. We'll probably do another online event next year.
@TimmytheSorcerer18 күн бұрын
We have some really nice on- and offline x-points tournaments as well. There's something for everybody. Biggest problem is that the venues can't fit everybody 😅

You don't accidentally wander into a pub and end up playing OS. One can assume Richard knew what he was getting into with a budget brew and was there to have a good time. Obviously he was a bit outgunned but thats to be expected going in. Can still have a good time playing the format, maybe its his first OS event with a budget. Dont shame people for winning games wth good cards and good decks. Nobody is forcing people to play OS events to play the game.
@TimmytheSorcerer18 күн бұрын
There are many different reasons for people to play a Tier 1 deck, a home brew or something in between. This deck won a pretty sweet flavour prize and I've done things like this in the past as well. You absolutely don't mind getting powered out, you know it's gonna happen a few times.

Are these current decks in vintage, or old video?

This tournament was played this year. It's MTG 93/94, ABU up to The Dark.

Then dont join a swedish legal os tournament 😂 there are enough alternatives you can play like xpoints where there is a point system or a tournament where reprints are allowed
@TimmytheSorcerer18 күн бұрын
I agree with @koendertruifrok567 on this one. You can choose what tournament you want to play. In this case Richard decided to play his childhood deck and go for the flavour prize, which he won together with another brewer. People loved him for playing the Craw Wurm and the Boars so we couldn't let him go empty handed :)

Like stealing candy from little kids, how to make OS fair? Besides the guy who spends more money, or was lucky keeping collection from the youth.. hmm i love oldschool cards, but i will never be able to compete with all these money cards 😢
@energetek66117 күн бұрын
Yea this is why I play x point. You get to play power cards, but it is much more restricted. 10 points in total, so it really cuts out the power. I play BW artifacts and its a ton of fun. Highly recommend.
@dondariohabibi511817 күн бұрын
@energetek661 Yea im also looking towards x points, should point some of the broken cards more tho imo :)
@energetek66117 күн бұрын
@@dondariohabibi5118 They do, LOA is 4 points and AR is 5 points, so they take up the majority of your points if you do include them. I personally run 4 workshops, 1 LOA, and 1 Land tax as my points cards and its really fair.

You should’ve seen the finals of UTC this weekend, underpowered mono red 💪🏻 in action. His 3 Blood Moons main took out so many players. Btw, people play dif tournaments and dif decks for all sort of reasons. Richard was going for the flavour prize and told me he had an awesome day. He knew what he was getting into 🍻
