Jiu Jitsu is the key that unlocked something inside me I never knew existed. It sparked a flame that consumes my every waking thought. Training Jiu Jitsu has brought such passion to my life and a thirst for knowledge that is beyond measure. As women we always hear "be comfortable in your own skin" referring to beauty and body image. I feel comfortable in my own skin because I am empowered. I am a fighter.

Nautilus1972 I feel sad for you. What is jiu jitsu? A play art? Watch UFC fights of 90s. Jiu Jitsu is a martial art. It is very effective.

effective on soft mat and with ruleset that favors grappler. a clean judo or shuai jiao throw would smash a bjj black belt to death on street.

Victorias4mom me as well. I suffered from depression past few years and took meds for it I also have PTSD kina badly. So I was still looking for a one piece I needed... Jiu jitsu is that final piece. I'm so glad that my gym lineage I'm under Gracie Barra teaches the women self defense program.

Great video. Another thing I would add - why BJJ over just working out at the gym: While lifting weights and basic cardio will trim you down and make you look good, BJJ will do the same AND allow you to kick some @$$...

This is not in Montréal. In Montréal we have women's class Friday every other week. The rest of the time, we train with the guys. I am happy that we are having more and more women.

It's not required. If you are big enough an can wear a man's gi, good for you. Otherwise, you'll have the white with pink patches gi.

I will say some stupid sh.t. My best euphoria was reading novels from Kafka or Hesse. I always wanted to try some martial art sport cause i see beauty in techniques. But i was always too shy to enter gym, i blush a lot. Nowadays my best euphoria, since i have a breathing disorder and cant concentrate on anything, not even books that gave me emotions..nowadays are just crystals few times a year. I know how stupid chemical pleasure is, but if they dont treat your disease and you cant fully live, u are in a world of agony.

Much prefer training with the women as they leave their ego at the door and their hygiene is better. And they focus more on principles to make the techniques work rather than it becoming a macho strength match. I only have private classes now. Couldn't stand the poor hygiene from guys and this attitude of calling everyone "bro" and thinking they were Brazilian.

as much as i love BJJ the pink gis hurt my eyes. I'd also rather they didn't pretend to teach you how to strike, all they get out of that is a false sense of security. Honestly this is all marketing. If they wanted true self-defense, just have them train with the boys like eveyone else.
