I had it at german military, many years ago. Best of! 10, 10, 10. What else do one needs than hit the target! (25m combat distance) One thing you didn't get: the drill. Watching you disassemble the P5 makes me smile. My record was 7 sec. disassemble/assemble with 3 reports costing the most time😉 The special lever at the front makes this possible. Draw back with the left hand, switch the lever with your pointing finger, draw it off, and grab the pipe with thumb and middle finger of the right hand (still holding the handle) .... out... and back again. Try it, makes fun. And important at military.

Just got a P5 - I'm pretty close to having a complete James Bond gun collection - Beretta 418 (his beretta in the books), Beretta 1934 (his beretta in Dr No that he hands in - also used by a few henchman), PPK in 380, Walther LP53 (air gun Sean Connery had in the posters for From Russia with Love), Beretta 950BS Jetfire (very common Bond girl gun), S&W Model 29 (Dirty Harry Gun that Roger Moore uses at the end of Live and Let Die coming on the Island). Walther P5 - Never Say Never Again and Octopussy. Walther P99 (Pierce Brosnan and early Daniel Craig gun). I also have a few guns that are commonly used by henchman (Beretta 1951, Tokarev TT33 - Zastava version, Luger P08 on the way, Walther P1 - post war P38) I guess a 7.65 PPK is really what I'm missing

Got one on Gun Broker , won the bid and cost me a King's Ransom ! Not a scratch on it, excellent like new condition. I love the gun and it's easy to use Decocking lever ! Worth every penny ! Locking Block is like it's Uncle the P-38.

Barnes and Webb made a lovely holster, with triple carry position, shoulder hip and appendix. I carried one on covert duties with the British Army for several years, issued after the Browning hi power.

If you're one to watch reruns on tv Trivette on Walker Texas Ranger used a P5 most of the episodes. His donned wooden grips. Thought ya might wanted to know that. I'd love to nab one of those and a P88. Yep, I am a Walther fan from a way back. Glad you were able to get your hands on that P5. Enjoy it my friend.

Nice find! The P5 is very much a P38 with the barrel cut down. The falling locking block design was "borrowed" by Beretta from Walther. Looking forward to seeing the shooting video.

Graham, I have 2 P5s. I love them! They are accurate soft shooting and very good looking and feeling in hand. Hogue makes rubber grips and there are many holsters that fit the gun. Congrats, great video and enjoy the pistol.

Hi Graham! Great video! You have a D-serie Walther P5! Dutch police used this pistol from 1979 till 2020. In the beginning Walther produced civilian and government pistols at the same time and there was a mix up with the serial numbers. They used 209 serial numbers twice and fixed that by putting a D to separate the numbers and making them unique. A D-serie is a civilian produced pistol. I also have D-serie in my collection.

What a beautiful gun. I inherited my grandmother's P88 Compact and absolutely love it. The P5 is the gun I've always wanted to own to complete my collection. You are very fortunate to own one.

P5s are my jam. I own seven P5, including a Lang (6" barrel) and two Twin Barrel examples (9 Para and 7.65 Para barrels). Three are shooters, four are unfired safe queens. Two have test targets (hand fired @25 meters) with 8rd groups of UNDER ONE INCH.

Looks like a P-38 inside both frame and barrel. Incidentally the P-38 also ejects cases left. I remember those P5s back in the day when they first came out. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Graham -- I purchased one of these brand new, in about 1985. I've only fired a couple hundred rounds through it and then had it treated with Birdsong's Black-T (teflon coating). You mentioned the need for a holster -- I found a black leather OWB pancake holster back in the 1980s for mine that I believe was made for a Sig Sauer. The fit is perfect as if made for this gun.

This was the service weapon for the Dutch police and other law enforcement agencies from beginning of the early 80-ies until 2014 . More than 50% of the production ended up in the Netherlands as largest user. During the years of service it was modified serveral times. The magazine release was changed, the grips were replaced by Hogue rubber grips, the firering pin safety was altered. (this modification can bee seen by the small pinhole just in front of the rear sight). And it was modified to accomadate special munition for the Dutch police. This munition created additional wear & tear to the weapon. (it consisted of a hollow brass bullet with a larger charge). In the end it was to expensive to produce spare parts that were only destined to go to the Dutch police, and in a operational sense a 8/9 round capacity dit not comply with new shooting techniques/training. It has been replaced by the Walther P99Q NL. (so also this weapon has been altered to fit Dutch requirements. Hence the "NL" addition to the type number). Is far as i know all Dutch service pistols have been scrapped. So the available models are either German police or commercial sales. As personal experience : this weapon succeded the "FN Browning model 1922" for the Dutch police and was a relaible weapon for over 30 years. The P99 Q NL is certainly a worthy successor

The logic for the left side ejection was that Carl Walther was left handed and the P-5 inherited that from previous guns, kind of a Company tradition

Wow. I remember one of these was in my local gun shop back in the 90’s. It was on the shelf used when the store opened and was still there when the dealer lost his business over a straw purchase gun buying ring. I think he had it priced in the $800 range even back then. It was so odd looking everyone wanted to look at it but so odd nobody would buy it. I guess the low mag capacity and large frame did not help its appeal.

Pretty cool, basically a modified P38/P1 - As for the tilting firing pin, I have a Mauser HSc from WW2 that does the same thing except while it's a DA/SA gun, putting the safety on doesn't de-cock the gun, You have to do that manually if you want your first shot to be DA. - I'm curious, anybody know if a P38 mag works in a P5? It looked pretty much the same mag.

Which rounds in mm can be able for the walther P5 7.62*25 mm ?
@jamescampbell43343 ай бұрын
Walther build a few hundred P5s chambered in 7.65x21 (30 Luger, 7.65 Para), these were for the Italian market. They're identified by a "Cat. 1062" roll mark on the right side of slide and 7.65 Para marking on the front of barrel. I own a pair of these Cat.1062 P5s. Great target caliber, zeroed at 25 yards, drop is around 1.5" at 50 yards.
