I just found your channel today. KZbin's algorithm is pretty slow recommending gun channels even to people who views lots of gun related content. Your content and reviews are excellent. You go into more detail than the vast majority of reviewers I have watched. I really appreciate the thoroughness of it. Canik is, imo, making some of the best polymer pistols on the market right now. I wish we had American manufacturers making pistols of this quality with these kinds of features.

I will own if possible, thanks for another damn good review on a line of firearms I have fallen in love with over the last year or so? I was under the impression that Civilians couldn't own a mete version Canik? Please clear up if possible? I'm sure I'm wrong but remember reading about the Mete versions over in the U.K. saying u had too be ex law enforcement or military? When I picked up my 1st Canik? I was going in to the store prepared to spend the amount that Glock wanted for there model 17 or 19 the day of purchase, I chose because the Canik because of the way it felt an the way it was built! @@jrico7244 Mete S is widely used in Turkish Armed Forces, literally tens of thousands of them are being distributed to the soldiers in active duty or to even retired ones (retired personnel still keeps their military id and regarded as military personnel.) Maybe because of that, there is a rumor.

The METE line is named after *Mete Khan* (Modun Chanyu), the founder of the Xiongnu Empire (Chanyu Empire) in the eastern Eurasian Steppe which battled China over dominance in Inner Asia between the 1st century BCE and the 3rd century CE. Mete Khan is regarded as a legendary hero among Turkish military historians. _Mete_ is pronounced *Mété* or _Met-eh_ (The Century Arms press release stated "Met-A" which many seem to have misinterpreted as "meta" but the _A_ is pronounced like the English letter A). Although the English verb _mete_ (pronounced "meet") that you referenced is a nice double-entendre.

Just picked this one up today. Genuinely, Canik blew me away. I wasn't expecting much from the price point but theyre so much nicer than one might think. The trigger everyone is talking about definitely is THAT good. The red dot it came with came presighted. Came with a holster. Came with a billion tools. Came with 2 mags and a mag-well. Came with a hard case and a lock. The only thing I'm missing, honestly, is another Canik.

I dont think this will ever happen. The only manufacturer that still offer new 40S&W pistols is Glock. Maybe also HK with their USP or P30 but these arent new models and even Glock just updated their G23/22 for Gen 5. I dont think that there is any manufacturer that offer a new model in 40S&W.

@@GBGuns Several years ago you did a video & were cleaning the barrel on the pistol using a string with a brush/swab attached. You rolled it on a red rubber wheel, then folded the sides up to incase it. Where did you purchase it & can you still get them?

Could not find any instructions in the manual on how to reverse the mag release, tried to figure it out thinking “how hard can it be?” Somehow screwed that up and almost couldn’t get it back together without some expletives and serious grief 🤬. You miss one significant change. The beavertail on the previous was kind of square and depending on your grip/hand could push into the bone or joint from your thumb. That is quite unconfortable. The Mete has a more rounded beavertail.

The META is my 3rd Cannik. I am pleased as all get out with this Turkish import. Out of the box the trigger is one of the best on the market. I will continue to build my cannik collection as long as they continue to build such a great firearm.

Not nitpicking, but I too wonder what “mete” meant. Since it’s the English word you refer to you, it pronounced “meat or meated”. For instance, “ Justice was meted out to the defendant.”

@@GBGuns true. But, Canik pistols have reinforced fibre polymer frames that can take +P ammo, albeit, Canik does not recommend regular use of +P due to the obvious fact that it will reduce the lifespan of the handgun. Any handgun. Not worth it.

I have the SFX Competition version but this new version does not really motivate me to get off my Lazy Boy Recliner to go out and purchase one. It seems to be the reinvention of the wheel once again that gun manufacturers love to do ! .... I have not Canik's to date, but I do like their offerings. My only wish would be to have a true flat trigger, either curved or flat. The blade safety is ok for me...just not a fan of that taper on the trigger, which is why I change all my Glock triggers. I would also like the gun to be one color...Not a deal breaker, but I am not a fan of two-tone guns, unless you do a full on cerakote with some type of pattern, but that is 100% personal preference.

I just got me a mete sfx. ($519 at a gun show) I don’t have the biggest hands but still chose the larger version for better control. I really like everything about it except for the slide release. Being it’s so sleek it’s hard for me as well to release the slide. I’m hoping it gets easier over time as the gun breaks in, other wise I guess I’ll just have to strengthen my thumb somehow. Either way it’s something I can totally live with. Great guy at a great buy.

My wife was having a really hard time releasing the slide. BUT, since it is ambidextrous, you can use both thumbs to release it! One on each side... and it releases like butter! Try it!

Also today when I smacked in a new mag for a reload the slide closed all my itself as soon as I smacked the magazine in some how. I wasn’t pressing any buttons. I havnt been able to get it to do that again but it was kinda cool I guess.

@@richardcolligon4277 Be sure of your target and what's in front & behind it. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Keep your finger OFF the trigger until ready to shoot.

Notable improvements. I like full size handguns. The minimum size I like for a 9mm is with a 4" barrel, called compact, not less. I cannot understand men going crazy about "micro / baby" subcompact guns. Short barreled guns produce less velocity, decreasing bullet expansion reliability, and reduce the sight radius for improved accuracy, not to mention tiny guns are snappier and louder. All that is for "comfort"?! That's why I prefer to carry big manly handguns, for obvious reasons.

Some men need smaller form factors for concealment. If you're wearing a gun small enough to fit under your pants it needs to be comfortable or you'll move very unnaturally which is what you don't want if you're trying to hide a gun. The average range of a gunfight is 3-6 feet, so having a smaller barrel will suffice just fine in that case without being burdensome. Living in a city, it puts everyone more at ease with a concealed gun. Carry according to your situation.
