Turns Joost was filmed just after the Thursday performance even though that was against the EBU rules. He told the person to stop more than once and when that person kept on going Joost made a threatening gesture. Didn't touch the person. And because of that he is disqualified. And even if it wasn't political up until now, it is literally ( from the sources) a non-political incident, that threw out Joost from the finals. Ireland is more of a religious problem for Christians and the only political problem is Izrael. Which I am not saying Izrael shouldn't be there, however it is very poorly handled, by Sweden.

To my opinion the camerawoman should be the one who should be expelled from the event by disrespecting contestants. She deliberately did not respect Joost request not to film him right now. If I was Avrotros or the Dutch party, I would sew that camera-woman and the EBU. This will have consequences for the future of ECS

I think the Dutch will just wait now what the police investigation find out. And when he is not convicted start actions they deem fit. Hence they could even sue the EBU in European courts. or the camera woman involved for all damages.

indeed just accuse as EBU member working there any country or participant you dislike and they can't participate. EBU rules seem to be guilty before investigation and a judge looking if the law was broken. If he is proven to be guilty then you can take actions like taking his place away whatever it was. Fine the Dutch. Even ban the Netherlands in the future for all i care. But this doesn't feel right at all.
@filipdahlberg4420

The EBU is a private organization and don’t need to have a police report or conviction to make decisions about who competes or is removed for breaking their rules. EBU made a big mistake by disqualifying the Netherlands. Big. HUGE. Joost didn't do anything wrong, it is quite the opposite; The camera woman was harassing Joost. Joost did NOT touch her. The camera woman kept filming him, even while this is in breech of EBU's contract with the artist not to film backstage. Joost asked her twice to stop filming and she kept filming him, so he made a gesture to the camera not even to the camera woman! EBU disqualifying Joost is like victim blaming and so not right. I hope justice will be served and there will be pressed charges against the EBU and their camera woman. Joost, you are in our hearts and everyone knows you were the public's choice. No one can take that away from you, Joost! Eurovision should apologize to Joost and also publicly for what they have so unrightfully done to Joost. Disqualifying him is not right, just not right...

Joost did not want to be filmed coming from the stage, filled with emotion about the loss of his parents. He asked that woman several times not to film him. Then he made a threatening gestion to her camera. Not to her. She made a complaint to the police and then The Netherlands was disqualified. The EBU refused to make known what the incident was, suggesting it was a kind of violent sexual assault. Not at all, it was made up to not have him on stage before Israel. It is reported by the press that from thursday evening on the atmosphere dramatically changed behind the scenes. The Israel deligation started to intimidate and harass relentlessly possible winners, among which Joost Klein. But the Irish contestant had to endure it even worse. Like it is legitimate to get rid of the competition, no matter in what way. So is this camera woman part of the Israeli group ? Let the Middle-East organize their own songcontest. Not welcome anymore in Europe. Maroccanoil is Israel, they were the big sponsors, so the EBU pleased them at the cost of Joost Klein. Who is the sweetest sympathatic person and shows his vulnarability on stage. When it becomes to much he hides under a flag as part of his act. Watch his concerts on youtube. It is such a personal tragedy for him to be excluded from the final. His song is about proving to his late father that he made it to the Eurovision songcontest. It is all horrible really. The incident unfolded at a highly emotional time for Joost. At the end of his performance, he saluted his father, a gesture that moved him to tears. Understanding the sensitivity of the moment, Joost had previously requested not to be filmed as he left the stage. However, after his semi-finals performance, a camerawoman continued to film him despite his repeated requests to stop. Overwhelmed and seeking privacy, Joost made a gesture towards the camera to insist she cease filming, although he made no physical contact with her. The camerawoman, perhaps feeling personally affronted, chose to file a complaint. The decision by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to withhold footage of Joost's alleged "threatening movement" has only fueled further speculation and confusion. Releasing this footage could have clarified the situation, potentially exonerating the artist and demonstrating that the decision to disqualify him was unrelated to this incident. Instead, it appears the disqualification may be tied more closely to Joost's controversial remark about Israels participation in the song contest. During a press conference,s Polish journalist asked the Israeli contestant, Golan, whether she thought her participation might pose a security risk to others, given Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza,. referencing the pro-Palestinian rallies in Malmo during the Eurovision Song Contest. Swedish presenter Jovan Radomir quickly intervened, informing Golan that she doesn't have to answer this question. It was at this moment that Joost Klein, interjected with a simple "Why not?", that challenged the avoidance of this delicate subject. This indicated his support for transparency and dialogue on difficult topics. His disqualification followed shortly after this interaction, not immediately after the alleged threatening gesture made days earlier toward a crew member. Additionally, if a formal complaint has been filed with Swedish police, the EBU should have allowed the legal process to conclude before taking action. Presuming innocence until proven guilty is a fundamental principle that should have guided their actions.

I miss the old days of Eurovision, before it was hijacked by gays. The songs were actual songs which could be whistled. Each contestant brought his own conductor for the orchestra, and the songwriters were all introduced. Most contestants were already established performers, at least in their own countries. There were no flashing lights and no acrobatics, just a proper song contest which everyone could enjoy. So many great songs were created, many of which are still remembered today, even those which didn't win. Whatever wins tonight, I'm sure nobody will be whistling it next week, let alone in 50 years' time. So sad.

Not that I particularly liked the act, in fact I disliked it. In fact, I disliked _all_ of this year's acts. They were all absolutely dreadful. But, still, having said that... this still was a very, very outrageous course of action to take by the EBU. Because there were nothing more than mere allegations. It reminds one of the actions of Disney, after Amber Heard made, by now known to be false allegations against her then husband, Johnny Depp. They immediately dismissed him. No due process, no waiting for any sort of investigation or trial. No, just, boom, gone. And, what did we learn from that whole incident, people? People lie. She lied. About everything. The Depp v. Heard case should've reminded anyone and everyone that it is absolutely critical to hold on to the most fundamental and important principle in any justice system of any democracy -- _Innocent until _*_proven_*_ guilty._ But, the EBU just treated the Dutch contestant as if he already had been convicted. I find this trend deeply, deeply disturbing. Moreover because of the exact circumstances. He had made it known he was not to be filmed following his performances. Yet, this camera woman ignored that request. And then proceeded to ignore several requests by the contestant to stop filming. In response to that, he made a gesture at the camera. And he is being punished for that. What message does this send, people? Do I need to spell it out? As a male, you are no longer allowed to stop a female from engaging in acts you do not wish them to engage in. Because, well, he did not even touch her. And yet he is still punished for it. It has gotten _that_ bad. People, start opening your eyes. We've gone too far. Society has lost the plot. Take action, today. Otherwise... this trend, if continued, will end very, very poorly. Very poorly indeed.

Dutch person here. Joost got kicked because he was critical of Israel. Dutch people are not used to being silenced. We can say what we want here. It is heartbreaking to see that that isn't the case in the rest of Europe anymore. Maybe google who is sponsoring Eurovision this year. Update: Apparently a journalist was harassing him, filming him when not allowed to. He made a gesture at the camera, did not touch the camera or the woman, and now he is disqualified.

The statement from Dutch broadcaster AvroTros on 11 May about participant Joost Klein: 'An incident occurred after last Thursday's performance. Against clear agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom. At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This was not heeded. This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman. This incident was reported, followed by an investigation by the EBU and police. Yesterday and today we consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed various solutions. Nevertheless, the EBU has decided to disqualify Joost Klein. AvroTros finds the measure very heavy and disproportionate. We stand for good manners, let there be no misunderstanding about that, but in our view an exclusion measure is disproportionate to this incident. We are very disappointed and upset, also for all the millions of fans who were so excited for tonight. What Joost brought to the Netherlands and Europe should not have ended this way.'
