That hole is a drain they sell a plugs that you can plug it up

That is a drain hole. There is a rubber bushing that goes in it so you can drain the floors

By the way, there’s a rust converter product that will cut your work in half for treatment. It’s a rust removal and treatment, metal protector and turn black like primer color and acts as a primer when it dries so no need to primer that section … ( 1 Step) is the name of the product. It works great, and no sanding required either.

Great job and dedication to the process. Props for learning anew skill - welding. My son and I are restoring my Dad's '78 Elky SS. I used to drive it when I was in high school. My Dad gave it to me and my son before passing away tomake this my son's first car and a project car for us. I've loved every minute of the restoration process, especially doing that with my son who is now 27. I'm waiting for the driver side quarter pan to arrive so we can get to work on that part. We're doing a full off frame resto. Anyway, enjoyed the video on got some good tips. I gotta look for your latest one's and see how's its been going.

Good job dude! I've got an Elky too. And I'm going to start patching up on my 79 thanks to your motivation!! BTW those holes have a cap over them keeps the splashing water out but drains the leaking water to prevent rust. I'd just spot weld a piece over the holes leaving just enough space to allow for draining. Good luck and Great Job

This is exactly the motivation I need. I have some $$ put to the side to buy a Fox Body Mustang. I had a few in the late 90’s, but I’m sure if I buy one now that’s been in the chicago weather, I’ll be doing this same thing. I can do all the motor work, but like you, I’ve never done this. Right , i heard the same thing but that welder works perfect for that job. Its hard welding sheet metal so i had to use a small Guage wire and i was fine .. but its slow motion on the Elco build , i plan to get back on it soon

Fiberglass then Epoxy primer welded seams. Seam sealers is used when two panels are overlapped

a Chicago electric flux core welder from harbor freight, i believe it was $200 maybe a little less . worked out great and got the job done.

I actually ordered the replacement driver side pan and just cut it down to size, I only used 1 sheet of sheet metal for the behind seat storage area.

If you’re going to do the job, do it right…. Stop half stepping with the job. You shouldn’t piece part a classic…. Do the job in full replace the floors properly….

ouch ! lol well I don't knock what you're saying but considering I couldn't find ANYONE that would do the job and I've Never done a floor pan repair and I taught myself how to weld sheet metal in 1 week . I would say I Piece parted My Classic together fairly Well. I am Not a professional Fabricator , I'm another Guy , in his Garage with a hobble performing D.I.Y's on his Toy . Thanks for watching
