I'm now convinced, of all the skills you can learn for free by watching KZbin videos, graphic design is the easiest. Because the people making videos teaching graphic design aren't making a bland Powerpoint presentation with bad audio and perhaps a guy who barely speaks English, but a show case of good examples of graphic design alongside the lessons. The lessons aren't just being made, but they are being designed for the viewer.

Im a full-time designer, and self taught. My advice would be to watch videos like this to learn the vocab, also the different theories involved in graphic design: such as color and Gestalt theory. And no matter what kind of design you're interested in, look at all types! Even if you are only designing posters currently, still look at website design because you can learn so much just by looking at good design. Pay attention to all the little details that make the overall design beautiful and effective: typography, hierarchies, color. Pinterest and Behance are great sites to browse modern and trendy designs. A lot of people start with Photoshop, but don't limit yourself to just PS, Illustrator, for example, is amazing for clean crisp design and vector based graphics.

Hi! Im 15 years old and im interested in going into Graphic design. Ive done alot of research and some of it is hard to understand like what subjects do I take in college (uk) to go into graphic design (the internet doesnt specify) and what does it require you to do? What are the things that you do other than design for websites? Also how much does the work pay if you dont mind answering :) (based on your experience or incentive?) Thankyou so much
@fdocument28896 жыл бұрын
@@Munooy I am currently undertaking a degree in Graphic design, I would like to first congratulate you for being so young but yet knowing what you would like to do career-wise.. already you are way ahead of the game so relax for you there is no rush. For what I can see its a good job to have and the money is good, so career-wise a good choice. I am a mature student and I used to be a street artist, when I went to the University open day I took a portfolio of street art - and spoke in-depth about how long it takes me and what each piece meant etc.. this impressed the course rep, but as you can tell this wasn't academic. I had previously got a National Diploma in Media Studies and it was equal to 2 a-levels - which is what is needed to get on the course for year 1. I would recommend when you get nearer the time, to check what is needed and complete the required course or a-level beforehand. I want to encourage you to take an interest in art - draw and sketch and look at typography - this will just give you a slight upper-hand when starting the course.. I wish you all the best, J

Hi there, from Cambodia, I don’t normally view this type of video about graphic design but your video really catches my interests. Based on what you have expressed in the video, I realized that they are also other designers like you who understand what I have been through. So, because of that reason I would like to ask you a few questions about Graphic design if you don’t mind. 1st question, I’m very eager to find a job in graphic design. Over the past 2 years, I have done 2 internships with 2 international companies, a few freelance projects and many other minor things in graphic design. Although, I’m pursuing my senior year currently, I’m very confident that I can work as full-time employees regardless of the timetable. Thus, recently, I applied for a job and I passed through 70% of the screening process when they told me that after an employee check-up, they don’t actually need a graphic designer right now. And as you have mention in your video, it’s important to find a company that fits you taste. That was my goal company but that happened. So, as an experienced person, would you recommend me continue looking for more suitable companies or put that aside pursuing year 4 instead? 2nd question, regarding revision, I had a few experiences too with clients or managers having too many revisions so I had to work on the same project over and over again. So, what would you recommend I should do with this problem? I actually found some interesting solutions which I haven’t tried out yet but one of them is limit the number of revision on one project. Would you say whether it’s ethical or do you have other suggestions? Finally, regarding international working experience, I’m very very interested in pursuing oversea education or profession. However, I don’t have any fund to cover myself. So, what would you recommend I would do? The one obvious solution is scholarship, which I know about, but I want to know if there is any other way that can increase my chances. Thanks you so much for reading and responding. Cheers, PS: Your video quality and concept is breathtaking

LINE: Lines can be any straight or jagged, bold or textured. The effect of lines can be changed by their weight, color, texture and style. Lines can be used to emphasize something, give direction or separate content. SHAPE: There are geometric shapes and organic shapes. They allow people to understand information without words. Shapes help create designs, add variety and organize your work. FORM: 3D shapes are called forms. In 2D shadows help add depth to an object and give it a 3D feel. Basic forms add a sense of realism to illustrations. TEXTURE: Can be 3D or 2D. Allows objects to appear smooth, rugged, soft or rough. It can be used in backgrounds or on objects. Texture can be noticed in unexpected areas such as icons or fonts. Overuse of texture is often unappealing and confusing. BALANCE: Balance is the equal distribution of weight. Balance can be affected by color, size, number, negative space and more. Symmetrical designs have identical sides, Asymmetrical designs do not have identical sides but are still balanced. RULE OF THIRDS: Putting your work of a 3×3 grid and placing you object on one of the lines or in the middle. Helps create visual balance.

This is a good video, with tons of tips! I'd like to see a practical part, like starting from scratch designing a facebook banner or something, using these video techniques!

Great fundamentals to get any designer started! Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.
