Simpleminded question: Why not mow is short with the bagger, then scalp it first, then spray the round up? Would that not have been less roundup and less cleanup? Trying to learn...
@martymiller97883 жыл бұрын
Glyphosate is absorbed through foliage (the grass blade) so you want an unstressed blade there to suck up the roundup.
@landofthefree20233 жыл бұрын
@@martymiller9788 perhaps you have never sprayed glyphosate on mowed turf and had it die off. Good logic but the original logic of the question is more sensible. And at 10:30 Pete is talking about spraying again after all that thatch is cleaned up to kill some of the green growth underneath. Sort of cancels out the idea of needing long foliage for sufficient results. Cut the lawn then spray it.

Did my second application of glyphosate about a week ago. Scalping this week and hydroseeding this weekend. Going with a 90/10 TTTF/KBG using the GCI TTTF and GCI Blue Heat KBG. So stoked to have a hard reset on the turf. Tried the selective rehab route, but I'm assuming the cheap contractor mix that was thrown out 15 years ago was garbage. Had the broad-leaved weeds under control but the colors/texture were a hot mess.

Man I would love to do this with my lawn... moved into a 2 acre house but have maybe 3/4 acre of grass. Have no clue what he planted if blend or what... some spots do fine in warmer weather (fescue?) and other sections struggle. Not to mention I have a very bumpy yard and clay soil (bare spots are a pain to get seed to fill). I would love to nuke it, grade it, fix some sprinkler coverage issues, hydroseed and start over... one problem is I live in a prairie area, live on a community well, and I am the only of 10 homes with irrigation... not sure they'd appreciate my hogging all the water to start a lawn over.

Love the content! I'm ready to renovate too. Question i've always wondered. After using roundup, when you're blowing the dead grass over your other turf patches, is there a concern about it contaminating and harming the other turf? Also, why doesn't the roundup harm the new grass when you're seeding? Is there a half-life or something i don't know about?
@gregmatson14703 жыл бұрын
Once dry and absorbed into the plant, it won't come off onto other plants. Glyphostate has no soil activity or root uptake. It only enters the plant through foliage.
