Love, Love, Love this content Pete. As a newbie, having just purchased my first 4 gal backpack sprayer, with your updated nozzle kit and the nozzle buddy kit from you, these calibration videos, clearly explain and demonstrate how I can utilize my equipment to maximize its efficiency. This explanation was awesome for me, giving me confidence that didn’t have before watching. Thank you so much Pete!!! It’s was like the cherry on top of my ice cream Sunday…… Again, thanks Pete. Keep em coming. Craig

GCI Turf Services I think I'm going to sign up for the academy even though I don't deal with much tttf. You share years of hard work to help the industry grow and help new applicators do things the proper way possibly saving them a lot of expensive life lessons. Love you , #thegrassfactor and #lcn .

Hey Pete, I really enjoy your Channel. Your calibration segments are the best, and your attention to the details and labels are spot on. I have a couple of questions about when you are mixing your products for a finish solution. -First, I almost never can find a level surface to fill the water in my tank, to be able to use the markings on the side of the tank. Do you use some kind of a “water meter” to accurately measure the water you put in the tank? -Second, When you are mixing enough finish solution for a lawn. Do you take in to account the amount of solution that is in the hose on your reel? And how would you account for what’s left in the reel when you finish? -Lastly, Could you speak to us about “record keeping” on a clients property, and the documents that every Lawn Company should have and maintain ie. Labels, MSDS Sheets and so on. I look forward to your response. Thank you, Bill

Bill Blake 1- not sure where you live but surely there a level spot somewhere??? We don’t use any type of water meter 2- I do not account for what’s in the hose or real. We use 3/8” 400’. There can’t be no more than 2-3 gallons in the hose. Spread that over 6 acres and it’s not goon make any difference either way. Our 500G tanks cover right at 6 acres 3- I’ll try and come up with something on that. Problem is about every state law is gonna be different on that. We keep a label and msds sheet in the truck for what we are spraying. That’s about all we do to be honest

Pete, I have found that some products when making a solution of multiple products as you have shown in this video are not suppused to be mixed together into one solution and, therefore, it would take two (or more) applications to the lawn to get these products applied correctly and effectively. This caution might be on the product label or, if in doubt, check with the manufacturer. You might want to consider stressing this to your viewers as you are doing this calibration video series. This was a nice video and well explained. Thanks!
@GCITurf6 жыл бұрын
Ben Harrison didn’t I do that with the Ca+P mix? That was the whole point of showing that. Lol.
@benharrison10696 жыл бұрын
Pete, I watched again Part 3 of this series to see if I missed you cautioning viewers about some chemicals not supposed to be mixed together. You do tell viewers that there is a lot of info on product labels and that they should read the product labels. I took that the primary purpose of Part 3 was to show the viewer how to calculate the amounts of product and carrier to come out with the correct amount of finished solution to apply to their lawn per 1000 square feet (or whatever size area). I did not hear in Parts 1, 2 or 3 of this video series specifically about some chemicals should not be mixed together. Pete, I may have missed it or you might say it to the viewer in later Parts of this video series. As you stated, chemicals cost money and if they are applied wrong could possibly damage their lawn so I was suggesting that you stress that in your videos at some point for the viewer's benefit and knowledge about being careful as to which chemicals they are mixing together. I hope this makes sense and helps, Pete.

Since you love this stuff so much... how about a harder one. Hose end sprayer with a 16oz bottle. Can be set to spray anywhere between 1-10 tablespoons or 1-10 teaspoons. Do 1lb WDG (dry product) per acre with 50-100 gallons of water. : )
@GCITurf6 жыл бұрын
Travis Morgan I don’t own a hose end sprayer. Sorry. Would be easy to calibrate if I had one.

I have noticed label directions that say when your mixing multiple products into a final solution, if your not familiar with the blend you need to see if they physically will combine well. I'm not sure what that means except when I tried to add wetting agent to a tank of chelated iron it just sat on top and became thicker and didn't naturally blend in. Please mention how you might trial new combinations.

Hey Pete. What about mixing WG products like Celsius? Would you mix it in one gallon of water and then add the rest of your carrier? It’s not a liquid from the start.
@GCITurf4 жыл бұрын
Chris Holland 1 gallon would be easier to spray
@chrisholland71844 жыл бұрын
GCI Turf Services So in that case if I’m spraying 3 gallons per 1000, my 3 gallons would be 2 gallons of water and 1 gallon of mixed product to give me 3 gallons of finished product?
@GCITurf4 жыл бұрын
Chris Holland no. If you are spraying 3 gallons per 1000 then the amount of Celsius needed for 1000 squ ft would go in the 3 gallons.

If using a thicker product at a high rate would you recommend doubling carrier volume and making 2 passes? Assuming of course doubling the sprayer rate isnt feasible or possible. You have re-ignited the old spray dog in me. I havent sprayed or held a license for 20 years. I might be re-addicted.
@andyvasquez38786 жыл бұрын
So could you mix up those three “colored solutions” and put it through a reused sprayer bottle? Like one you would pick up from a big box store?

good question never tried that so i am not sure friend

Do you mix your products for 1 gal per 1000 even though you spray 2 gals per 1000. What's the reason to put 2 gals down vs 1 gal
