I'd like to think I have a bit more on the ball than some, but even the basic info has some nuggets you didn't know...for me, in this vid, it was systemic vs. contact for fungis and bugs. Good stuff. Makes all the difference in knowing when to use what!

Another informative video, Pete. Thanks! Pete, since you stated in this video that you don't know how crabgrass grows I thought I would pass this along to you and others. Not to plug another KZbin channel but there is a guy called the Lawn Care Nut (actual name is Allyn Hane) that I know you are familiar with but others may not know of him (search "Lawn Care Nut" on KZbin for his videos). He has been doing lawn care videos for years. One of his videos illustrates very well the life cycle of crabgrass. If you haven't already seen this video, you (and others) may want to watch it and learn how that weed grows and when and how is the ideal way to attack crabgrass. He, too, makes informative and entertaining videos about lawn care. Take a look at it. Nobody knows everything and we can always learn more from each other.
@GCITurf6 жыл бұрын
Ben Harrison ha ha. LOL. That’s funny. I simply said it that way to keep the video as simple as possible so that the utmost novice would understand the basics of what these chemicals do. Yes, I know Allyn and he’s a smart guy. But take my word I am extremely versed in most all life cycles of pretty much any weed of grass you can think of. I’ve been doing this for a living a very long time. Again, a lot of my vids are “dumbed” down so that first timers can “get it”. Not calling anyone a dummy but sometimes things taught in their simplest form are best learned. 😎 great comment!
@benharrison10696 жыл бұрын
GCI Turf Services Pete, I hope that you didn't take my previous comment as an insult. It certainly was not intended that way. If you did, I apologize. I would, of course, think you would know about various plant and weed life cycles so your statement on the video surprised me a bit. Allyn does explain crabgrass life cycle well for those that might want to know more. I do agree that to teach a group of people with varying degrees of knowledge it is best to go for the lowest common denominator so that everyone can understand what you are trying to teach. That way all will have the same stepping stones to a better education. Thanks for all your great videos, Pete. I am learning a lot from you and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experiences with all of us.

Ben Harrison no worries bro. It’s all good. I just tend to keep things low key is all. Keep it simple so folks can understand. Just with till the Natural Adjuvant Video! 😎

Hey I'm one of those guys who is just starting to experiment with his yard with fertilizer and post emergent herbicide . I've never used a pre emergent yet. Im in Louisiana (St. AUG.)They say put it down before ground temps get in 50's. How long does it last on the ground? Can I just put it down in early Feb?
@GCITurf6 жыл бұрын
Thats too much info to type out. Short answer in your area mid feb should be good. Read the label for the rates
@PaulsPrimeCuts6 жыл бұрын
J's Crazy Cutz, LLC not Pete it’s Paul, usually the rule of thumb is for spring apps is to get it out before the dogwoods bloom. It doesn’t prevent all weeds just the ones with seeds that will germinate in spring crabgrass is the biggie. How long it last varies sun light breaks it down fast so if the grass is very thick and the ground is shaded it could be effective for months if a lot of sun light hits it it would be much shorter

Great video Pete...I've got dormant sod that has visible crab grass - Never Been mowed...new house...while that crab grass is 3 inches taller than the grass should a go on a spray it with some blue marking die and tenacity. PS..I've got a bag of your premium turf seed I plan on watering in about 6 to 8 weeks after I deal with these weeds. I'm back n forth...Just do the seeds here in the next 2 weeks or take out them weeds while I know where they are because it's new grass never been cut.

@GCITurf6 жыл бұрын
Not really you don't need the adjuvant. But I can say that I do not spray a liquid solution without an adjuvant in the tank......ever. The pH adjustment is specific to Natural Adjuvant...lowering the pH has nothing to do with the bio's
