I'm thinking about buying 1 of these for my trail/comp TF2 rig. Not sure if any changes were done since this video was made,but can you put a different size pinion gear on this? If so,which size would you recommend? My other question is if this transmission will be ok to run a brushless motor? Lastly while I know this has overdrive,I'm thinking about running a 4:1 gear reduction,will this be ok to use on this transmission? Thanks in advanced

Brushless for sure! I've got a 4s castle 4 pole 4600kv on my Flinger truck and it's totally fine while pulling a sled. Pinions change, no. It comes with one and it fits that one. As for your 4:1 reduction comment, I don't understand that one. This transmission is way different geared than a stock TF2, you'll get a lower gear reduction using this over stock already.

@@GCMRacing1 great,glad to know it's fine on brushless. That's sucks you can adjust the pinion size but I get it as I know you guys make great stuff and know what you're doing. Oh ok about the grear reduction as I didn't realize it was geared way differently then the stock tf2 trans. I saw rc4wd (and other companies) make gear reduction units that bolt to the motor and transmission so I wasn't sure if it would be ok to use to lower the grear ratio even more. Thanks again

Who actually maschined these transmissions? The front housings all look identical RC4WD, GCM and chinese brands

Internet looks are deceiving. For sure. The RC4wd trans was designed years ago by the same guy who designed the SSD. We don't make any gears at GCM, so we buy all our gears and the front part of our GCM trans from the SSD factory. I have to say ... don't confuse any of these transmissions, although they may look the same. Each one has it's own gearing, and different mount holes, and different fitment. They are NOT the same for sure. The GCM and the SSD and the RC4wd all use the same motor plate fitment holes, so that helps in some cases, but the rest isn't the same. There are some .. other.. china ones, with 2 speeds, and other stuff, and those are completely different and incompatible with any of the other 3.

great how to on this. is this product in any association with ssd-rc? the tranny looks very identical but not the transfer case which is shiny. also motor bracket is almost the same cept mine is black. I have the ssd-rc tranny/transfer combo. I also noticed a little difference between gcm and ssd set up..mine was missing a bearing, no instructions but that ain't a big deal and it seems the teeth are beefier on gcm gears. Wish mine came unassembled. I contacted support and was surprised I wasn't offered a bearing at least just a "sorry bout that, first we heard of it". what's your thoughts on this?

We do not have a kit to fit the TRX4, but you can make up brackets if you wish and install in this chassis.
