"Before this point, people were blaming all unexplainable diseases on Gods. Which meant there was nothing you could do about it if you were ill." First part is an assumption, second part is a wild assertion. I don't know why nobody points out the word hypocrite. It's not a coincidence. The church lies to us yes, but science does too. What I want to know is why your hair seems to bend space.

I love your videos, but just one problem... I was always told that Galen did not dissect human bodies but dissected animals instead
@BenNewmark
@BenNewmark 7 жыл бұрын
He did dissect some humans in Alexandria. When access was limited he did dissect animals as he wasn't allowed to use human corpses.

Ben Newmark well then, why did he make over 200 mistakes for Vesalius to later correct
@oliverwright5527
@oliverwright5527 7 жыл бұрын
His access was limited since he lived in Rome where he was unable to dissect human bodies. This meant that for the majority of his career he'd have to use animals as subjects for his dissections. Judging by this it's inevitable that he'd have made mistakes concerning the human body. Both Vesalius and Harvey did correct a lot of Galen's teachings concerning the body but you've also got to keep in mind that the teachings of Galen had been edited by the church to coincide with their beliefs.

Galen never dissected humans as it wad against God. It wasn't until the renaissance when dissection became common.

Who developed the theory of the four humours some say Aristotle some say Hippocrates
@BenNewmark
@BenNewmark 7 жыл бұрын
Great question, Ewan. To be safe, I'd do with Hippocrates developing it. There is evidence it may originate back earlier than the Greek period but for the purposes of the course, Hippocrates' application of it to codified medicine is significant. Hope this is helpful.

I don't really understand the first question and how you answered it
@emelia6149
@emelia6149 6 жыл бұрын
the question asks why the greeks made progress in medicine. specifically, hippocrates. so, they are asking you what hippocrates did that progressed medicine, and how his cures and ideas influenced people. we can find this out by looking at what he did. rich people had lots of time to think and to follow up on theories they had , because they had slaves and poor people to run their lives. so they couuld afford to spend their time on coming up with ideas about what caused disease. hippocrates, a rich man with plenty of time would observe sick people and try to diagnose them. he wou.d write the diseases down, and came up with a theory - the four humours. these were blood, sick, phlegm (like snot) , and diahhharea ( runny poo). he thought that you became ill if one of these were imbalanced. e.g . if you had too much vomit, it would come out and you would be ill because of it. so, he believed that in order to keep the four humours balanced, you needed to lead a balanced life. this meant getting the rite amount of sleep, excercise and food and drink. although his theory was incorrect, his idea was based on something that for once was not based on something supernatural. this meant people could actually do something about disease for once . his ideas kept people healthy and this is wat made progress in ancient greek medicine. i hope that helped!

Agri from the name/word Agron by the way Is an now day Albanian back then (Pelazgian/Peloponnesian - Illyrian) word wich means sunfall. Diagnos comes from the Albanian language also, we say Di to the word "know". Dit = Day. Drit=Light, maching so on and so forth. Then comes Dhi = Goat (Dh=Eng=Th) say It like you say The hehe.
