For Kobe Bryant, his first face-off with Michael Jordan was the most important day of his career and life so far. For Michael Jordan, it was Tuesday.
@lazarsorak95898 жыл бұрын
Yes, at that point of his career, Jordan was multiple times champion, MVP, best of the best. Kobe was young gun who strives for respect. Kobe tried to compete, I know that feeling when you're trying to be best against your idol. Now, the All-Star game in Toronto is past, Kobe's done. It's been crazy ride. For me, he's greater than Michael (All my respect for AirJordan) just because he plays in two different eras and he dominated all the time.

MJ's old veteran experience and moves vs the wild raw talent of Kobe. really interesting to watch. if you've ever watched Jordan in like his first couple years in the NBA he had a similar playing style in terms of occasionally being a little wild and out of control on offense. then you see jordan at this age and he's so in control at all times. amazing to see them perfect their craft as they progress in their careers. very little wasted movement and always getting the look they want.

@sutherlacd2710 жыл бұрын
youre comparing stats without taking into consideration who the teammates were. were jordans stats better on his championship teams or was his best statistical season on a garbage team? if you have nobody you put up great numbers. kobe on his worst supporting team averaged 35, 5 and 5. please think before comparing stats.
@picknroll92910 жыл бұрын
Chase Sutherland Oh really? are you saying 21 years old Kobe would have done better if he was in that Bulls team instead of Jordan? Oh by the way, Jordan FG % in his rookie year was 51.5%, while Kobe's best FG% in a single season for his entire career is 47%.. And you're saying MJ have those stats because he is in a garbage team?, I thought MJ takes tougher shots than Kobe because all the attention is on him, while Kobe have better shots than MJ because Shaq attracts 5 defenders when his on the court, and kobe needs to do is take an open jumper.. and yet MJ have better FG %
@sutherlacd2710 жыл бұрын
Pick N Roll fg% shows shot selection. mj played more inside. kobe played more outside. this is clear by 3pt attempts. efg% and ts% show scoring efficiency...yes jordan is slightly higher. again im asking you to THINK before posting. i tihnk jordan is better. youre just posting crap without thinking about it first is all. and your theory about the shaq thing doesnt work because once kobe became a star teams never left him...shaq on the floor or not. lets not also forget that shaq didnt finish a lot of games due to foul trouble and free throws. so kobe faced many doubles in those years.
@picknroll92910 жыл бұрын
what do you mean THINK before posting? I said MJ shots better FG% than Kobe, what's wrong with that? and don't tell me about Shaq didn't finish a lot of games, he only average a little more than 3 fouls a game while playing 37.5 minutes in 8 season with the Lakers, means there's only 10 minutes per game that Shaq is not in the floor, while MJ plays probably around 40 minutes being double team almost everytime.. And don't make kobe's 3's as an excuse as why he shots lower FG than MJ. If a player is a threat in 3's, his defender will guard him closely in the 3 pts, making it easier for him to blow by his defender, which in turn a better 2 pt attept, unlike MJ who doesn't have much 3 pt game, his opponent concentrate more on his midrange which means MJ's 2 pts attempt are better defended than kobe.. Should I say more if MJ is playing the pistons? Let me tell you this, the reason why kobe have lesser FG% than MJ was mentioned by Phil Jackson in his book. He said if MJ have a bad shooting night, he will focus his energy on other things like passing and defending.. While if Kobe have a bad shooting night, he force things, taking more bad shot attempts.. I've seen kobe take 4 straight 3pt attempts without making a single one..

Yeah, but he was still the best player in the league here, and could still do most of the same things. Oldest MVP in the NBA is what 36 or 37 by Karl Malone maybe? He lost a little bit of athleticism, but added some other tools to his game to keep himself the best. Jordan had very few injuries over the years so he was able to maintain most of his skills. The guys who get older and are still the best, or are very close to the top of their game almost always have had hardly any injuries in their career. Jordan like Lebron knew how to adapt to keep his game going strong. Really really amazing player who was ALWAYS working on his game. I remember him just destroying Kobe here. A "special moment"? .....obviously you have your priorities a little out of whack. They're just 2 guys (pretentious ego-maniacs at that) who bounce a ball and put it through a hoop with a net on it. Nothing special bout that. And to think we pay these people MILLIONS of dollars to do something so fickle. It will all become clear to us all very soon how meaningless it all is. Not sayin this as a non-sports fan. I was fucking nuts about Stockton & Malone...lived and died for them. But reality must set in. These athletes aren't aren't any more special than your average bear. P.S. - yes I was being a dick :P

Why won't people ever just close the book on this. Kobe is not better than Mike. Kobe is the closest thing to Mike. Kobe is easily top ten all time. If Mike was rated 99/100 Kobe is 97.5/100. Mike was a better player. The only advantage I give Kobe is outside shooting. In their primes Mike was faster, could jump 8 inches higher, was quicker, had bigger hands, was a better defender(although Kobe was an outstanding defender), had better ball handling, shot a higher percentage, Jordan has averaged 8 boards a game for a season Kobe has never averaged 7, Jordan has averaged 8 assists per game Kobe never 7, and FINALLY to me this ends all debate Kobe has NEVER shot 47% from the feild or higher for a season MJ did it 9 seasons 6 of those over 50%.

I was born in 1985 became a Mj fan in 89. Made my first basket in 1990 and i waa addicted ever since. I legit played every day all day of my life. I became very good at the sport. But then i grew up, became a dad and im now 37. Every once in a while i go to the local y and put on a clinic vs anyone who's there. It's the Mj in me. I fell in love with the ball from day 1. Anyway my point is that Kobe had it too. He has the same thing that Mj and I have. We have many many hours of just us and the ball. Thats why we know we're better, it was never "putting in work" it was just us spending time with the one thing we loved, the ball.

They totally kept Kobe out of the game the final 18 minutes so they could give Jordan the MVP Award.
@Utoobzz4 жыл бұрын
Not sure how he'd get it as everytime MJ had the ball and Bryant was guarding him, Kobe got cooked. Jordan had the overall better stat line and was more pivotal to his team - hence the trophy. They kept Bryant out the game because he was in just his second year and there were a plethora of stars who deserved the minutes much more than he did at that time.

@@Utoobzz before he got subbed out he had more points then mj
@CJKB2473 жыл бұрын
@@Utoobzz Well give Kobe more playing time the rest of the them 18 mins and we’ll see how that stat line would of been. Kobe would of easily had a better stat line and west could of won the game, but MJ’s fair well year, they weren’t letting Kobe get that MVP. He was a starter, didn’t deserve to get bench the last 18 mins. For those that don’t know, like yourself, Kobe waved off Karl Malone on a play and they don’t like that, coach sat him the rest of the game. Plain and simple. They hated on Kobe and resented him cause he was making NBA players/grown men look foolish since he was 16-17. Del Harris was the one who started it. Can’t have a player straight out of high school cooking these NBA players. Not a good look lol.
