I use the uScope to Ampere and Voltage test a Gasoline Direct Injection Injector on a 2012 Ford Focus.

9 amps per injector. Waveform sure looks different than port fuel. Do you see the same thing on each wire?? But the amperage would definitely tell you if it’s shorted. Nice video

Nearly 9 Amps per injector, with nearly 70 Volts. This system needs to be proceed with caution. The two wires for an individual injector goes to the ECM. Based on the scope measures in voltage , i think the injector is power sided commanded . Or am i wrong?

If only 2 wires goto each injector, all you should need to check is if each voltage being the same per spec of the engine. Some of this is too much for nothing in my opinion.

The number one reason for this video was that a viewer ask for a video on how to use the uScope to check a GDI injector. There is much more to it than a voltage check and comparing to factory specs which might not be available. The scope amperage check is the most important because it can help to identify shorted or open windings in the injector. I can also determine if the injector on-time is changing based upon engine load and it can verify that the computer is duty controlling the injector on-time. On the voltage setting you can check how well the transistor is working when the voltage is being duty cycled very rapidly. (to control amperage) You can see if the on/off switching of the transistor is clean and sharp or degraded and rounded. This can indicate a driver transistor that is going bad. You can also measure when grounded if it is grounded completely or if there is some resistance and not pulling all the way to ground. You can't do any of this with a digital multi meter.

I love my Pico scope. Is that what you were talking about? The uScope fits a nitch. It's quick, easy and fast and it has a good price point for all of it's features and capabilities. I will often use my uScope to determine if I need my Pico and multiple channels because I can setup my uScope in half the time it takes me to setup my Pico.
