To clarify what I said about the V-35s being un-armed at the 10:24 mark. I was specifically speaking about the aircraft itself. However, if you garrison infantry units in an APC and then have the Ox pick up that APC, then the units inside it will fire down on enemies below them. I wasn't sure if this was an intentional gameplay feature or if it's some kind of glitch; so I ended up leaving it out of the script. Also, as others have pointed out, the Missile Squads in the Hammerheads could shoot at enemy aircraft.

Said regiments are either merged with other depleted regiments (forming what is referred to as "scratch regiments"), sent back to their world to replenish their numbers, or discharged from service and, depending on their deeds, often being allowed to settle conquered territory. Of course, they could also be sent for some lifelong R&R on that planet that also exports an unusually large quantity of Servitors. Odd.

Ox’s can’t lift Harvesters due to the Tiberium being too dangerous to fly around a battlefield. They can’t lift Rigs due to their intricate machinery. They can’t lift Mammoths because… girth? I guess. Edit: I was in a rush when I wrote this so I'll elaborate a little. The Harvesters will likely either have a full cargo hold or traces of Tiberium inside them. In either case if they get shot down, that's more Tiberium contamination - potentially over a Yellow or even Blue Zone. For a full hold, that would also be too heavy and potentially unstable to carry - since Tiberium is explosive, it might be volatile in the state it's harvested in until it's refined. The Rigs are as stated by a comment to be a utility vehicle so aren't likely to be vital for aerial transport, but that would have it's uses. I think it's down more to the fact that the Rig's build itself is little more than "cockpit". It's literally a glass box with metal bits on the bottom - put simply there's nowhere to grab it without potentially tearing off the head, which we know extends when deployed. It'd be like picking up a jar by the lid. As for Mammoths their sheer weight would definitely preclude the Ox transports from carrying them - on top of that, if ONE transport could carry one, it would take ONE lucky Rocket Militant to destroy a very powerful and very expensive GDI vehicle unit, alongside it's presumably highly-trained crew. Plus if it did get shot down, it's gonna land on *something*. And that *something* won't fare well. Also, it's likely that even if one Ox transport could lift it, it'd be far too heavy to move fast enough to evade attacks or keep up with it's escorts and other transports. The MCV can be lifted in a "cutscene" but as you can see it clips to all Hell inside the Ox, so it's very definitely been jury-rigged for the dramatic entrance. As for actual reasons, I again imagine it's far too heavy to lift safely and efficiently. That, and dropping a 3,500+ credit mobile firebase because the transport's engine failed would probably cause a little uproar. Engineers aren't cheap either. The Titan Mark II is as mentioned probably too heavy and unwieldy to carry via Ox, and likely the Steel Talons know how vulnerable they are to being shot down in flight, so forbid it. Their funds are stretched as-is. And the Juggernaut/Behemoth are simply way too heavy, expensive and unwieldy to lift. See again my "every crash is a landing" and "lift a jar by the lid" analogies. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Peace Through Power.
@Nr151212 жыл бұрын
Or maybe lack of usable mounting points the rigs aren’t shaped right harvesters aren’t either and mammoths are just plain huge
@tiber69422 жыл бұрын
I agree that the Harvesters seem too hazardous to carry. Even empty there will be traces of tiberium inside if its been used. The last thing GDI wants is a harvester dropping somewhere and starting a new patch. Rig is not a combat vehicle since its listed function is to secure territory once its been cleared. No need to have it air transportable since its not going to be rushed into combat. Sort of like a supply truck. I won’t try to do any maths on it but even if GDI has some new armour material that is light the sheer size of that thing slung bellow one transport would be a pig to fly with. I can only think of two ways to make that thing is fly. One the ground crew wire it up to a few transports like a Jaeger from Pacific Rim and fly in some tight formation to carry it. One Rocket and you lose all the transports plus a Mammoth. Or you can try my crazy plan to make the MCV fly bellow. If you want to make an MCV airdropable if if you strip everything non essential to flight from that V-35 and that the MCV wouldn't be able to fabricate on site. I’m talking the what they did to those B-25’s during the Doolittle Raid. Pull any limiter from the engine for more power at the cost of fuel consumption. Fit the both with some JATO or RATO boosters to help with take-off. Once both are as light as possible have the MCV drive to a runway facing away from the destination. Have its upper crane slide forwards as far as it can without dropping the body. That gets you a some what flat space on top and the somewhat rounded end facing the direction of travel. Drain any fuel from the MCV to cut more weight. Now to fill the V-35 with just enough fuel to hover and land on top of the MCV. Weld on some attachment points and clamp it. Give the V-35 enough fuel for a rolling take off and no more. Have the MCV put its wheels into neutral and pray. The V-35 has to reach a high enough speed it can overcome the MCV’s mass and drag to the point it can take off. If it can go fast enough and just lift off it can use the ground effect to pull it off. You need to keep performing mid air refuelling the whole way since its going to burn fuel. Once its near the drop point aim for a highway or large flat area. Let the MCV’s wheels make contact and have them signal to release. Pop the clamps the moment you hear its down and then RTB. Once you land write off the V-35. I don’t know what process GDI uses to say don’t use it but I’m saying don’t use it. Ever. This whole plan relies on every trick I can think of to pull it off. But it still poses a massive risk to both transport and MCV. Probably why no one wants to do it in universe. Gameplay wise having the MCV do some crazy airdrop would be cool but making the animation for one mission would be a waste.

You can tell not only by the propellors but also by how thin and flat they are compared to the more chunky and strongly shaped wings on the C5. You actually can't physically put such thin and flat wings on a plane that big. A heavy planes demands thicker wings to bear the load and flatter wings produce less lift so demand a higher angle of attack but do grant more maneuverability and less drag which is why you often see them on fighter planes. The C130 is meant to operate from forward air bases and to possibly dodge AA fire or use it's flares to distract them before escaping.

The author of this video bases it's assumption on the next appearance of this mysterious fighter in the view of the Nod's SAM site being shot down by it, but if you look closely, the first mystery aircraft is quite different from the one shot down by the SAM. So...it doesn't necesserily mean that the first one is the GDI's fighter, and it seems that the second one is completely different aircraft.

You know when I was younger I thought it was weird that GDI didn't have any jets or anything in Tiberian Sun, but we see all the time that ion storms will knock aircraft right out of the sky so risking expensive jets making long missions when an ion storm could pop up at any time isn't smart. Helicopters make sense as they'd have an easier time taking off and setting down at a moment's notice.

It could be there would be a special heavy lift variant of the ox transport that would be required to transport heavier vehicles like the mammoth or MCV, but that isn't reflected in the game

I wouldn't say that GDI's air forces surpassed Nod's during any way past the First Tiberium War. I mean, Nod start using Scrin and plasma technology pretty quickly. And the drop-ship is pretty clearly based on Orca technology IMO.
@teatanks64812 жыл бұрын
the only Nod aircraft using scrin tech was the Banshee, which was a limited prototype. After that it was back to older designs. GDI maintained a large fleet of fighters and bombers throughout all 4 conflicts.
@xxnoxx-xp5bl2 жыл бұрын
@@teatanks6481 The Harpy was specifically designed to catch up to the Orca, but I'll agree that Nod was behind on the bomber side during the Second Tib War. But by the third war, there seems to be very little between GDI and Nod in air power. Not sure what this 4th war you speak of is. Every time I try to think what it is you might be talking about I begin to pass out...

Fun fact about the Hawkeye EAW, watching a special from the old collectors box thing, I vaugly remember them mentioning that the first thing ever shown publicly of CNC was the cutscenes of it crashing. I remember someone saying something like they had no other information on what the game is but they where interested by that alone. The fact that the brotherhood where the ones using raptors kinda blows my mind. The idea that the gdi would use the mig over the raptor is just... I dunno. It feels wrong lol. Tbf as stated, they share some equipment so it's possible the gdi does indeed use raptors. But why use a raptor when you can use the thing that hunts raptors lol One reason I could see them giving the brotherhood a raptor in the cutscene is to establish how more advanced gdi is supposed to be. Back then and even today, the raptor is one of the most advanced jets in the world. So showing that gdi has something that can take a raptor is a good way to establish their technological superiority. Like in superhero things where they beat the bad guy by the end and then the next bad guy in the next entry is even stronger. Like in the movie with thors hammer. There's one game that takes place on an aircraft that is being escorted by f22s and it's used to establish the technology of the world because they are mentioned as being outdated relics. Iirc most ace combat games have you flying an old mig during the start of the game but I think electrosphere started you with a raptor or an f14 or something. I could just Google it but the point is using the f22 as a primitive or lesser thing is a rarely used but interesting way to subtly mention how more advanced technology has gotten for either the world or a faction

(Addressing 6:23 comment on GDI utilizing Mammoths because Russia was part of GDI) In real life lore, Mammoth Tanks were NATO. Russia's irl tank philosophy is to go light - nothing above 55 tons. Whereas irl NATO tanks go heavy and armored - Abrams, Leopards, etc. It was only in C&C that this system is upside down. In C&C, Russia still has her T-80s and the West produces lighter versions of Abrams - something like the Japanese Type 90. Then in C&C, Russia goes all the way and has Mammoths.

If I had to come up with a hypothetical reason why oxs could'nt/wouldn't pick up harvesters, it'd be that GDI wouldn't risk valuable equipment being ferried around in the air. Lose all your harvesters and it's hard to recover.... There's a reason Nod, GDI and even the scrin would target them first.

15:09 Strange, I don't remember that Hammerhead troop-transport chopper. Coaxial rotors are very cool, and may be a Russian derivative. But being able to operate in the field for days without refuelling? Nope that's pure magic.
