GE dishwasher not working, no lights on display - control board diagnostic using GE SmartHQ

I think you are chasing a ghost so to speak. I am former owner and tech for HD trucks and also furnace and stoves. I recently had a service call on my GE dishwasher and had found problem before he arrived. These units operate in a high humidity environment and pins are subject to micro corrosion due to that. The harness to the UI is nothing but a low voltage, powered datalink to accept commands from the UI going to the main board. Here is your explanation. Those corrosions occur on the push on connectors going to the pins. I had this same problem solved in OTR semi trucks by removing all the data links connectors and putting dielectric grease in all. Then pushing them on and off board 5 times. Never another problem. I just took apart my 5 yo GE and checked the power connector. Guess what, no grease. The tech said he put some on. He lied. Neither the power or data link had any on them. Low voltage can’t push thru corroded connections Very poor design on GE’s part as the fan exit is on bottom of the door and the board is on the bottom of the main housing, just 12 inches from the fan outlet.

This absolutely worked on my DW, I had purchased some grease earlier for the lower connections. after taking out the UI board and using some grease along with the connecting and disconnecting the plus a few times the UI board display came on and the washer started working

Would have liked to see if either the wire harness or the UIC were the culprit. I replaced both the MCB and UIC and no lights at all. I heard the wire harness barely ever is the problem. Did a low voltage test to the UIC and it passed. Could it still be the harness?

Hi Mario, i dont think it is wire harness if your low voltage test passed. Could need to be program.
