My drier had starting only running for a few seconds/minutes if at all after turning the knob.and pressing start button. No issues with door. This indicated an issue with the timer switch. Ordered a timer and new knob from GE Parts and and followed your video. Worked like charm. Thanks for the video.

Your step-by-step thorough instruction made it easy for us to replace the broken timer with a new one. Thank you for the close up of wires....I switched one Duh so yes take a freaking picture....yes your a man and don't....just take the picture 😊 Thankfully it only didn't heat not catch on fire 🔥 or short out. But it's working now ..you yeaaaaa

Just a heads up on these.....the D-shaft is so tight on most of these timers, the knob fails. New knob? The D-shaft strips. New timer and knob? 50/50 crap shoot. These are infuriating. Bring back the metal D-shaft!

This is what is happening to my dryer. So many knobs have failed. Now the D-Shaft is starting to strip. I think I have it in a spot where the dryer will start and just stay on until I stop it manually. I may just roll with that if the new one is 50/50 to not function well. Thanks!

what is the that little black rod on the timer? that rod chipped off on my timer and now my dryer won't work efficiently. ordered a new timer and just watched this video.

Are you allowed to turn the timer knob clockwise and counterclockwise to set it. Or are you only allowed to turn it clockwise, otherwise he will damage it?

Same question we had. I’m not an authority, but since one must turn the timer clockwise when inserting it into the back of the panel, then from the front side, it makes sense that turning the knob counterclockwise would keep the timer secured in its correct location.

My dryer has a WE04X24551 switch, which is quite different than this WE04X24550 switch. For example, there is no F terminal, and but it has an E and a K terminal just to the right of the F terminal, and it also has a D terminal that this one seems to be missing. Problem is, the only part of the timer that ever functioned was the plain minute timer. The Cottons, Casuals and Delicates settings never worked from the get-go - no heat, no tumble, no nuthin. So, before I spend $100 on a new switch, I wanted to try to determine whether the thing was wired properly at the factory. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for WE04X24551?

I have the same issue. The older part has been replaced and doesn’t have the same connections. GE support told me to watch a KZbin video! No one can assist me .

How do you know if this is the problem? My dryer is not quite 4 years old and turned off after about 4 minutes. I have tried everything to get it start again...someone suggested the timer. (it's not the door, breaker, lint, etc...)

Could you help with part numbers I need the one in the video but the knob needs replaced as well and the dryer cord terminal block is damaged

Is there any way to install a different timer that's not prone to failure? My GE dryer looks beautiful but it's only a year old and failed with these timers that are known to be crap! I have a 25 year old Frigidaire that works and with a timer still operating smoothly, but the machine looks ancient
