Fridge door was cracked open. Read almost 70 degrees. Dumped the food and it wouldn't go below 59. Read forums. Unplugged, open door s for 24 hrs in case coils frozen. No water on floor at all. Still at 59. More forums. Possible motherboard, thermostats, etc... Came here and sure enuff the coils had a nice sweater. Went at it with a toothbrush followed by a vacuuming. Meat thermometer on top shelf and one one the middle in a glass of water. 24 hrs later both read in the 30's. First time homeowner and no one told me about the coils on a fridge. Gonna get a compressor and really go at it. Thanks so very much. You saved me alot of stress and money!

Thank you for the demonstration. I assumed vacuuming was sufficient to clean the condenser coils. After watching your video, I used a blower after vacuuming. The resulting dust storm indicated additional cleaning was necessary. Thanks again.

Nice vid. Not used to seeing a drum style. Most are on the bottom. Thanks. I can also see on your fan a groove near the entrance of the fan housing that could stop the fan blade from turning also.

I tell ya in a lot of houses dust is a problem mine include. I took mine to the outside and did the samething. I would add a washable blue filter to the other side or front vent to cut that down and just keep it washed.

Didn't have time to remove a couple of more screws and remove back completely. I bet it.cycled a lot less after this, it was really clogged up. I have same refer and after cleaning it a bunch of times I have always ended up using your exact method. good job on video

Great Video, but unless you try and vac up All that dust you just displaced... As soon as you plug it back in... That clean fan will just suck it back in to your clean Coils!!??... I'd recommend rolling an old long damp beach towel around the bottom of Fridge before using Air Compressor and carefully placing a running Shop vac hose underneath the damp towel during Cleaning!!??... You should also use compressor to blow the other Accumulated Dust you can't reach with the Shop vac attachments, towards the Shop vac hose!!... There are also long bendable, bottle brush type, pipe brushes and extra long (extension wand to reach from front of Fridge to the hard to reach back of coils) Shop vac cleaning tools you can buy at Appliance and Hardware stores that also help with these types of hard to reach scenarios!! This is just my probably overly perfectionist opinion😶🙄😏, Thanks again for Sharing!!!🤗😉

You would think it works that way, but it's a little too much overthought. I just used a compressor with a small air fitting, and kept my vac on as i blew. The cloud (small stuff went into the vac. The big old dust bunnies blew out from underneath the front, and piled against my baseboard, clear across the kitchen :) . I blew that thing until it sparkled, and cleaned up the dust underneath with a vacuum before i moved it back into original position and plugged it back in. Looked brand new. Remember, the fan pulls the hot air OUT from the coils, and in my case, exhausts right onto the fridge's compressor.

I think I burned up the mother board on my GE by not cleaning the coils. It must have been running to much trying to cool and overheated and fried the mother board. So clean these coils at least once a year.

After I unplug the refrigerator, and take everything out, would it be a problem if I laid the frig. on it's back and cleaned it this way? Awesome video. Thanks so much.
@OcRefrig7 жыл бұрын
never lay fridge on it's back. can damage refrigerator water valves, refrigeration tubing, circuit board in rear etc.. lay on either side . ok. then after cleaning stand up for 30 minutes. then plug in.

Those cardboard covers are more important than they seem, they control the airflow to the farthest end of condenser coil away from fan forcing the cooling air to touch as much surface area on its way to the fan, if you look close you’ll see a foam seal mounted on fridge in the vertical position that seals against the cardboard that you broke. also on the compressor side they use the cardboard to run the fan air across the compressor before it exits. What’s the point of my info, it’s compressor longevity and happiness. How do I know this, my current old fridge is 35 years old and still plugging away. None of this new garbage will ever see that kinda life unless it’s left new in the box unused
@dallas692 жыл бұрын
Foam strips fell off used double stick tape and foam to make new ones just to improve airflow over coils. drain tube was full of dry food used weed eater string to clean and wash tube also lubed tube to help ruinstall.
@jimdavidson52087 жыл бұрын
Best way is to roll it outside and power wash the coils. Or use a leaf blower again outside.

The fan can just be pulled out by hand and wiped with a dry cloth.

do i ha to cover it again with the cardboard mi kids misplaced
@OcRefrig7 жыл бұрын
wrong.
@OcRefrig7 жыл бұрын
cardboard cover or metal is there to direct air flow and not recycle air blowing out and get sucked back into coil. air goes in back at condenser and out front of refrig. cool air in back and hot air out front. air is also directed over compressor to cool and evaporate condensate in condensate pan. back can be very important in certain refrig's. order new rear panel for best operation. if no rear cardboard fridge must be away from rear wall to allow heat to escape at rear of fridge. you will notice air holes in cover in on right side and no air holes after fan side to direct air foreward under fridge.

@_niXie74 жыл бұрын
I had noticed another video had a can sprayer (NEVER EVER DONE THIS IN MY 65years of cooking...maybe my mom or dad did this cleaning but they’ve been dead over 20 years) Anyhoot so this coil cleaner in a can is used instead of a condenser??? Because I don’t own one of those thing.
