I just bought the same GE refrigerator this week from Lowes. I transitioned from a Whirlpool Ultraease side by side after 19 years for great use. I hope my GE last just as long.

Is there anyway to keep the actual temp of the fridge and freezer on the LCD display?. I had a Samsung before and the actual temp of the fridge was displayed at all times, you knew if it was working well or not. This GE only displays the temp on the screen if I press the arrows up or down. Thank you.

For GE fridge, you have to press to get temperature to show. Samsung was more higher tech imo.

What is the ideal temperature to keep the GE fridge set to? Should the freezer be set to 0 and the fridge set to 36? I have the freezer set to 3 or 2 right now, which I believe is “warmer.”

Freezer should be at 0.

I have this GE Model. I'm having trouble to set the refrigerator side to the temp 50. Somehow it's always on 45 degrees. Do you have information regarding this issue? Thank you.

That’s normal. The screen turns ON when you need to change it.

That means error message. Maybe unplug fridge for 1 minutes before plugging back in to reset it.

Definately the display is done and sounds it needs replacing. Probably need an appliance tech to help.

Remote the water filter, re-install water filter then try the reset again. That should work. Ask how I know ;)

How do you turn on the ice maker on this model?

Press the button for which ice type you want. Crushed, or Cubed. It should be ON by default.

@@netman88 i tired that by nothing dispense down. Last week I tried to crush some of the ice which was bulked together and unable to dispense so I decided to remove it from the fridge ice maker holder and place on the kitchen table to crush some the bulked ice. I installed back fine but I won’t dispense the ice, I tried to turn off the ice maker underneath the ice maker tray but that didn’t work. Any help?

My GE side by side refrigerator side is showing 51 and the freezer is 13,and has ice on the inside of it

Temperature is too high when it flashes. Try adjusting the temperature lower.

I had a power surge tonight in Tennessee. I thought the fridge was done for. After 5 hours i pressed a button, not sure which one, and held in the thing you put your cup against to get water and ice for like 3-5 seconds and boom it turned back on. I have an older model GE, I know im a year late but if anyone else sees this hopefully it helps!
