Ge stacked washer Spanner nut and agitator spindle removal

It was a war getting mine apart too! It helps to know it is a left hand or reverse threaded nut. Same deal with spindle seazed on there so bad you start to think something else must be holding it on.

I rounded the nut with the special tool and finally took an angle grinder with a cut off wheel and cut 1/4 of the nut off , you can tell if you hit the centre shaft because the metal is way higher quality and the spark color changes. .then i was able to use a pipe wrench amd easily turn it off. the centre shaft is square so try to cut against a flat side . Then to get the tub out i had to lift the tub with 1 hand and hit downward with a 10 lb sludge hammer about 10 times

My spanner nut came out with the spanner wrench tool. Make sure to turn in correct clockwise, I believe, direction. Now the inner tub is stuck and won't come out! Blasted!

I'd buy a new washer, not GE, but the new washers don't use much water and don't seem to get clothes clean! They just leave the dirty water in the clothes, that turn grey! I've changed 2 transmissions, belt, water valve and computer timer already! This will be a third fix - transmission, seal, bearing?

tool did not work on mine,I used a large flat head screwdriver Metal handle end ,small sledge hammer .cut through nut ,took time but it worked.

My issue with this video is that it NEVER shows the agitator being removed or ANY details about getting it to come apart! My agitator does NOT come apart and I have done it ALL!!!! The first thing I did was to soak the nut/shaft with "NUT BUSSTER Penetrating Oil" over night. I even pumped up my hydraulic scissors jack between the top of the drive shaft and a 2x6 piece of wood that I cut to fit inside the agitator's inside upper lip and left it over night. The next day, I pumped it up some more!! Still NOTHING!!

Could you tell me which specialty tool you used? GE couldn't tell me! There are various spanner wrenches available and I want to make sure I get the right size.

I finally got the tub nut off by taking a masonry chisel to it and breaking it. I tried your method of separating the inner tub, but its not budging. There is a rubbery type seal or gasket around the axel. Did anyone try to take that out to free the tub from the axel?

here I am at removing the tub also looking at a guy who uses a car scissor jack and a piece of wood hardly any daylight between the axel and the tub thinking almost the tub screws onto the shaft you say you tapped it out with a sledge ??? I havnt found a vid with actually getting the tub out

I have tried EVERYTHING, even the car jack and it still will not move!! NO ONE HERE SHOWS A VIDEO OF ACTUALLY GETTING THIS APART AND/OR ANY DETAILS!!!!
