This is great advice. I got my older GE Electric Oven (Model JSP39S0K3SS) to get rid of the "LOC" (locked) error message simply by watching this video and then pressing and holding the up/down arrows at the same time for at least 3 seconds and BAM the error message was gone!! Thank you KZbin for another home remedy!

I turned the breaker off to my oven for about 10 minutes then turned back on. I held the plus and minus buttons down at the same time. About 10 seconds. It worked. Hope this helps someone else.

This technique works well! Once I closed my oven door, I initiated the button sequence. After holding them for about 10 seconds, I was good to go.

Just happened to me. What a pain in the neck. Luckily, after reading all these comments, I pressed Self Clean, then quickly pressed Lock Controls and it released!! Yayy!

Thx 4 the tip. It apparently worked. I had accidently selected self clean, realized it was on, then whipped open the door, not knowing it was locked. Tried troubleshooting my GE JGB920TEFZWW and no dice. Then, I saw this video and it did get rid of the locked sign. Hope I didn't do any damage to the latch. How would I know?

Thank you GE. You guys seem to be very helpful. I have an older model (XL44 JGBP26GEN2AD). My mom used the self-cleaning feature. Now, the, "LOCK," light won't turn off. The stove top works, but, when I touch the, "bake," or, "broil," pad, the display says, "door," but nothing else happens. I've tried unplugging it for an extended period of time. I've attempted to push both the up and down arrows, simultaneously (this brings up a, "3," in the display, but nothing else happens). Along, with the troubleshooting method described in the manual: 1. Open the oven door. 2. Push the, "clean," pad. 3. Close the door. 4. Latch the door closed. 5. Unlatch the door. 6. Immediately hit, "Clear/off," pad. None of these methods have resulted in the, "Lock," light turning off. If there is a different way to reset my model (I've searched KZbin), please advise. I will be very grateful!!! Thank you.

Any suggestions on a current model that is similar to my old one, would be appreciated. I would like a large oven area. And stove tops that are uniform in size, instead of the multiple sizes that are coming on current models.

I have a GE profile gas cook top. The control lock light is on and knob is switched to unlock. When you light the burners it makes a buzzing noise. I shut the breaker to the stove for appox ten minutes but the light is still on with buzzing. Any suggestions on how to reset it when the lock feature is with a knob?

Hello Mary, Sorry this didn't work. You can also try disconnecting power on your unit at the power source for about 30 seconds to reset the electronics. If this doesn't help, then I recommend scheduling a service appointment with an authorized GE Appliance technician who can accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. I have model JGSP48B0H3BB. I was cleaning the stove top and "locked door" appeared in small text on the bottom left of the display. I unplugged for 30 secs and plugged back in and now it says FC and no troubleshooting is working. If anyone knows where I can find the control board for this model, as well as a guide to access/replace the board in my model, please reply with links!!!! Ty

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to reach out. If you're seeing FC on your display, this code usually means that a component has failed somewhere in the door lock circuit. If resetting power to the unit did not help, then we'd recommend reaching out to our service team. Also, we recommend turning the range or wall oven off at the circuit breaker until you have it serviced. It's okay to switch the breaker on and turn the range back on long enough to use the surface units. Be sure to turn the range off at the breaker again when you have finished. Even after I clear the LOC message when I try to set the oven for Bake (or anything else) the display tells me that the LOC is still on instead of giving the degrees that I want to set the oven on. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

+Christopher Taylor If “LOC DOOR” is flashing in the display of your range or oven and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control: Motorized Switch 1.With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel. 2.Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed. 3.While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps. Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds. 4.When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it. 5.Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear. 6.The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service. Manual Switch 1.Press the Clean pad. 2.Close the door. 3.Slide the latch to lock the door. 4.Hit the cancel button immediately. 5.Unlock the door. If the above does not correct the situation, service may be required. You can schedule a service appointment with GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment on-line.

Hi Debra - if the oven is cool, the LOC should not be showing. I would suggest that you try resetting the controls by turning off the circuit breaker to your oven and let it sit without power for about 10 minutes. Restore power, reset the clock and see if the door is unlocked. However if this doesn't work, we would recommend you contact service. The associates answering the phone only wanted to push me into a scheduling an appointment. The above video didn't work, but pressing 6 & 8 worked. GE should be ashamed of themselves.
