FC Error Code Locked Door on GE Range

Replacing an oven latch on a GE Range. Oven door stayed locked after self clean.

This video was super helpful, thanks! Just a tip I discovered for anyone else. Once I removed the broken latch, the "locked door" message does not automatically clear and the oven will not turn on. I was able to get the "locked door" message to clear by plugging in ONLY the 3rd connector that he disconnected around 2:38. I then just left the broken latch off to the side so it doesn't interfere with the door until I can get a new one (These latches ain't cheap lol) and my oven works like normal, minus the lock of course. Not sure if this will work for others, but it worked for me.

It worked!! Thank you so much for posting this. I have a GE oven and ended up needing the same lock model which I bought on eBay. Followed your instructions exactly, including removing the bolts holding down the plate and pulling the plate back in order to reach the bolts on the lock - couldn’t have reached the lock bolts otherwise. Also, for those wondering, just removing the lock and not replacing it won’t solve the problem, the FC code will remain and it won’t let you use your oven. You need to order a replacement oven lock.

I have removed the lock, the code is still there. Will it go away when the new part is added? The fan is still running that cools the oven down.

I haven’t replaced one in years. You have to unscrew all the burners underneath though, lots of screws 👍
