Really interesting to hear he uses a Klon-style pedal for high-gain boosting. That pedal gets a lot of hype, but I hardly ever see anyone talk about using it for high gain boosting - I think it excels at that and more people ought to try it out.

Not a bad interview by any means. Love the visuals of the capture nonetheless and their music is top tier

Hey Josh, How come and you chose to use the Archer OD for your high gain rhythm tones instead of the 805? Could you do a 1 on 1 comparison between the 2? Also what did you use for these little clips that you played in the interview?
@timitve7 жыл бұрын
I'll see if Josh can give you a brief comparative answer for ya. Also, he used my AX8 for the tones. Thanks for watching!
@SBTones7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply!
@joshuasmith62627 жыл бұрын
the archer is just a bigger, broader sounding pedal. The 805 is my favorite tubescreamer type for what I do but I found I preferred a pedal that kept the midrange a bit more open.
@SBTones7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for answering, Josh! Yeah, i noticed that as well back when I owned the 805. Even at idle settings it had a significant boost in the mids. Do you think that your preference right now (the archer) might be because of your signature pickups?
@joshuasmith62627 жыл бұрын
Not so much because I've used it with other pickups too and had a lot of success.

Rad as shit interview, great camera work :) I mean this criticism 100% constructively; I would maybe look in to gating the audio. Some of the stuff coming through is a bit distracting. Looking forward to more, though. This is rad
@timitve7 жыл бұрын
Thanks David, I appreciate you checking it out! Man, I welcome the constructive criticism! Whatever will make the video more enjoyable is good with me :) I'll definitely do that next time, is it the reverb coming from the room distracting or just bits here and there? I'd love to do more of these whenever the chance presents itself :)
@davidwilderr7 жыл бұрын
No worries man :) You smashed it hey. Yeah I think it's a bit of the room reverb, and Josh's quiet noises (swallowing, etc). I'm pretty sure if you just cut at whatever DB levels those are coming in at, you should get a clearer sound, and only important noises coming through. Having said that, I am no production expert. I am basing this off of my own laymans logic of how a Guitar Gate works. Maybe also consider playing some quiet audio in the mix in the background (not sure if that would work in such a long video though)? It might also hide these sort of things, and I may have been noticing them because it was really quiet.
@davidwilderr7 жыл бұрын
For example, I feel like your "Welcome to my Channel" video is perfect.
@timitve7 жыл бұрын
Noted! I would have to say it's probably more the mic's being used too. But will 100% work it to better the videos. I appreciate it! :) I was thinking of put the bands tracks underneath but didn't want it to be too distracting on the real gear nerdy bits. Plus copyright stuff is a pain sometimes haha. I should look in to creating some music just to vibe it up a bit though! That gives me some good ideas to work on.
@timitve7 жыл бұрын
Thank the Rode mic for that! I'm afraid the mic I used for that wouldn't of worked as well with two people. I'll see what I can do :)
