I'd probably look in to something else for getting an easily achievable modern metal tone - something based on a 5150 etc.

I know this is an old video, but I was just checking out the demo because I'm considering the pickups. I agree though, some sick riffs and tight picking.

Sounds like the higher gain tones were double tracked. Did you record two tracks for the video, or use a pedal like the DECO or 30ms to give the impression of double tracking?

Thanks, sounds great, but why do people never demo the sound with the pedal turned off first so we can see what impact it has? And demo it with a clean amp, I want to know how I can make it sound without spending thousands on a mesa boogie ..?

Gibson uses lots of veneer...Gibson's semi-hollowbodies like the ES-335 and ES-339 have tops and backs constructed of layers (either 3 or 4) of maple veneer. My understanding is that the veneers are assembled in successive cross-grain layers with the top layer having its grain longitudinal to the length of the guitar. The tops and backs are approximately 1/4" in thickness after layup.

Question- I’m seeing different opinions. Do you have a perspective on using the various cab options, when running in front of your amp (I’m using 2 orange baby solid state (clean) power heads in stereo). Is the a major issue to run the cab emulators in front of an amp?
@FastRedPonyCar5 ай бұрын
You typically do not want to use cab simulation if your signal is going to a real speaker cabinet. I tried using my lion as a fancy overdive pedal in front of my Silver Jubilee and it works pretty well but speaker simulation HAS to be off or else it's extremely dull.
@timitve26 күн бұрын
definitely bypass the cab sims if you'll be running it through a real cab!

Archspire, a tech death band, using a kemper is pretty insane to me, I've had one for about a year and I was thinking I'd need to get a QC or an AXE FX for live shows since the kemper is considered "old" gear these days. Thanks so much for this, helped with my confidence on my gear fr
@thetej10988 ай бұрын
Every new gear will only get you so far. The myth about gear getting "old" and wanting to have to upgrade after a few years is at the end of the day just that, a myth. As long as you got something with which to make music and get passable enough sounds out of, you're good to go. Rock on, man!
@timitve8 ай бұрын
Even though there's not been an update in the same timeline as the other pieces of gear out there, the Kemper still sounds great and there wouldn't be much you couldn't do with it compared to newer units. If you're happy with it, then that's all that should matter. Keep it up, you're doing great!

You hear stems but not each other on stage? I wasn’t sure there was such a thing as too much technicality in metal but that’s clearly it. As a fellow musician I can’t imagine -laying a live show and not listening to each other, that’s pretty much the exact opposite of what I get out of playing live. If it makes you an your audience happy then great but live music without improvisation and the band locking in to each other is nothing I’d ever want to play.
@roach56068 ай бұрын
Cool no one asked no one cares. Dumb comment.
@jamelgriffin92168 ай бұрын
You hit the nail on the head. Archspire music is only “bandmanship” in concept. It is a music theory thesis presented by graduate level musicians ie the concert version of a new Apple product release to its employees. Its is try hard “look what we can do” unfortunately under the auspices of tech death metal.
@timitve8 ай бұрын
I get ya! Considering the technical proficiency in their music, I'd say there's little to no space for improvisation in their particular live setting. It's a fairly common practice these days and it made for one helluva show!
@louderthangod8 ай бұрын
@@timitve Yeah it’s definitely the norm but I see that as a very bad thing personally. Live shows for me are best when the musicians and crowd are sharing a unique performance. As a musician with fairly bad ADHD it also keeps me interested and fully present when the songs take on unique qualities of and band feeding off of each other and the room. I care far less about a technically flawless performance but I also understand that’s probably a very big deal to much of their audience to see if they can pull off the insanity of their albums.
@louderthangod8 ай бұрын
@@roach5606 It’s a comment section. I commented on what I saw. Nobody was asked anything so are you leaving that comment for everyone? If you think it’s a dumb comment then that’s fine but leaving no explanation makes it seem like you disagree for emotional reasons more than on anything intellectual.
