Have you tried any "Vintage lenses" on your camera? The Pentax Takumar 50mm f1.4 has a wonderful bokeh. There are different versions this lens, but I just bought the 8-element version, which is not radioactive. The 7 element version is cheaper, but they maybe unsafe. I love the look of the older lenses.

No, but I've heard good things. Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to look into that.

Yeah wireless is good for portraits but need to point right at camera. You can get triggers they work perfectly just like wired one but you can go more far away.

What is one or two great lenses to pair with a A7ii? Mainly for street photography and landscapes. I am going to be going to Japan and Hong Kong.

For street, I'd go with the 28-70mm for street or even a 55mm but for landscapes i like wide angle lenses like my 16-35mm

hmm... I was thinking about getting a 55mm and 28mm. I hear good things about the 28-70. And the 16-35 has good results.

When it comes down to it, it really just depends on the photographer and his/her vision.

That is true. Sighs.... I am going to get a 55mm, but not very sure what other lenses to get....

When you get it, let me know how you like it. I've been thinking about the 55mm too

May I suggest some gear for a fellow landscape shooter. I shoot with similar gear, the sony stuff, and you want the smallest tripod that can carry your heaviest setup. That sirui.... uh not very good with any sort of wind, and good luck shooting over 100mm with good consistency. Out of all the tripods in existence, there is only one tripod I've seen that comes up with the specs of serious beef travel sized tripod. It's the largest tripod that I can consider worthy of international travel, yet truly beefy. Look into the RRS TVC 24. Biggest leg section is the size of gitzo 3 series (33mm I think), yes, those 5lb tripods, but the tvc 24 weighs in at only 3lbs. Around 18" compact but doesnt get very tall, only 49". One of the best travel tripods in existence. Highly recommend the arca swiss p0 head. Extremely lightweight and quick to level/adjust. Sorry to get your gear lust going, but I know that sirui is bound to get you some blurred shots. Heck, even the 2204 isnt quite stable enough. The RRS tripod will be more stable than your previous gitzo and likely weigh less.

I use the a7II as well, but I use an MC-11 adapter so I can use Sigma EF lenses with my Sony. Im currently using the Sigma 35 1.4. If you were looking for a good 35mm prime I highly suggest the Sigma.

check out the really right stuff tqc14 or the FLM cp travel tripod. the RRS is solid for my mirror less setup (Panasonic GX8), the FLM is a bit smaller, flexes a little, but still very usable

im also using the A7II im owning a heavier Gitzo Series2 for my landscape work, but i also got more lightweight tripods. Series 1 Gitzo GT1545T Traveller is amazing, very lightweight and very sturdy. If u looking for a even lighter but still kinda sturdy tripod, take a look at the Sirui T-024x. This is the 4 section version of the T-025x and is a lot sturdier that the one you bought. Still not on Gitzo level of course, but if u goin for city trips with a lot of walking and just use your tripod occasionally while exploring the city, thats a gread combo for that :)

I'm curious whether you use your 16-35 more than the 28-70 in your photography. I haven't gotten used to real wide angles yet..
@abpanphoto
@abpanphoto 7 жыл бұрын
Depending on what you shoot, I'd highly recommend a wide angle. I use it the most out of all my lenses but it doesn't replace a good zoom lens.

Another option is to hang your camera bag on your tripod to give it some weight. This will make any tripod more steady.

This tripod just has a key ring type thing at the end. Not a hook. It'd be difficult to get my bag on there. I know what you mean though. Thank you, Tuan!

There should have been a carabineer in the packet with the hex key & instructions. This is for hooking your bag to the ring. You can always buy another carabineer. I've got the aluminium version (t-005) and I love it. Not too heavy either.
