Oh yeah, the Helinox Chair Zero. Arguably the best piece of gear I've bought in years! 500g, nothing beats sitting in a chair at the start of the day, in the middle of the day, and at the end of the day, and the proof is in how many people will ask you to let them try it. And yes, it sinks into the ground even when I only weigh 60-62kg. They sell an attachment you can put on the feet but it's ridiculously expensive. I'm still trying to solve this issue and my latest trial is using a cheap IKEA chopping board (the flexible bendable ones) and cutting 10cm circles and placing those under the feet, and so far so good. I might reduce the diameter later on to see how small of these circles I really need to keep the chair sinking. And I see you've actually tried cutting off the tops of the bags so a regular length spoon will reach the bottom. I still think folding cutlery is a major pain to keep clean.
@JeremiahStringer
@JeremiahStringer 2 жыл бұрын
Love that little chair. No joke, if there is a limb laying around that is thick like in the video, it's perfect to keep your chair from sinking. I wouldn't buy one of their attachments either

Excellent, the better gear lists are what people actually take with them when they go camping. The best gear lists have most of the stuff sized so your dog can carry it. Some cool stuff there going on my Christmas list. Really enjoyed it, surprised you didn't show off the poop hammock, saving weight? As always great fun and cheers.

The closest thing I’ve used to one was a one person tarp tent. It has one entrance and you had to shimmy down into it. Had about 25” clearance above your head I think
@mysterylovescompany2657

@@JeremiahStringer thanks for the reply! The reason I asked is because I am considering making my own, purely for the purpose of boosting my sleeping bag's warmth on an extra-cold night, + only ever inside my tent - so it doesn't need to be weatherproof, & only the absolute simplest bag-sheath design; just an open-ended tube, no bells or whistles - & I am looking around for advice on whether a basic sil-ny tarp that I already own would be fine to stitch it from, for that super-basic purpose, since I am very broke. I shall keep looking around. Thanks for answering, anyway! 😄

Are you pretty happy with downsizing to a 10k mAh better from the 20k? I guess it saves about 6oz or so. I’d like to be able to watch some movies or something on my phone and charge my nitecore but would want the bank to last 3 or 4 days. Thinking about one of the Anker PDs. The new nitecore one is really light but pricey. May be worth it.
@JeremiahStringer
@JeremiahStringer 2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty happy with it. I still take the 20K if I know I'll need to charge a ton of stuff and often times I bring a 5K on top of the 10K even though it is more weight than the 20K because the 5K is also a hand warmer

"Gear you actually need..." Chair, sit-pad, puffy, extra-pillow, spare lid, fire-starter? Not sure any of these items are "needed?" Is a Garmin "needed?" Sleep-system is needed and while hammock is way more comfortable, it's heavier and most certainly not "needed?" Beginners looking for minimum starting-gear run from cost/weight, ultralighters looking to shave weight to only what's "needed" scoff. Gear vids get hits though, so good job on that front?
@mysterylovescompany2657

I think he means "to have a _comfortable_ experience backpacking," making ppl more likely to want to come back & do it again. A lot of experienced backpackers do shave down their gear over time, but most ppl don't want to go straight to Roughing It as their first experience.
