Getting resists to 70%+ across the board with good gearing is a core gameplay loop: moving resists from gear into passives, item implicits, relics and sometimes skill points based on drops, crafting and farming.

I feel Increased Cool-down Recovery Speed suffix now being on boots, belts and helmets, opens up options compared to just stacking %health.

I compared it with my bowmage (my first and only character) and seems like apart from the belt I have more or less wrong pre/suffix everywhere and being very inefficient. Thank you so much for this video. Also I gotta add, as a bowmage, we kind of have to take extra resistences on a lot of places because our shoes give us -Pyhys and -ColdResistance. So on a lot of places I will now get rid of flat health and intead will use Phys/Coldres.

Wow, I started playing a week ago, and I didn't know all defensive stats were so important. I thought you had to choose between one or two of HP vs Endurance vs Resits vs Crit avoidance vs Ward. I see now how much micromanagement there must be at endgame to make sure you got all the defensive stats down. As of my level 50 right now, I actually thought it was impossible to have everything. I also didn't know blessing were such big stat boosts.

Thank you for an amazing explanation. It makes sense in a lot of way's, only to confuse me even more ---> My fault as I'm very old ;-) Question is. How, what and where can/should I put my stuff as a Mage? intel, spell crt/dmg + skills... I have been searching the net for the past nearly 2 weeks, seen tons and tons of vids and YT-ers/TTV streamers etc. And I just don't understand or get it all. I am very sorry however. it also depends on what you are specifically building i guess, certain affixes scale better than others, so you tend to prioritize those and even ignore certain modifiers. Playing a swarmblade that applies frostbite with serpent strike and tornadoes, i tend to focus heavily on attunement because it scales freeze rate, crit avoidance, minion health/minion healing effectivess, and even dodge which i convert to armor, having so much armor from serpent strike allows me to take the endurance blessing from spirits of fire and also the endurance form the skill tree so i don't have to use it on my gear, and i can get as much flat and percent life as i want as suffixes, which is insane for druid because it gives extra endurance threshold and because primalists specially druids get a lot of free percent life. So in a ideal situation i would have as prefix attunement on every piece of gear and % ele damage over time because it is the highest % scaling affix, and maybe sealed t4 vitality, and and a suffix, pure % and flat life and some res because i don't need crit avoidance, endurance, endurance threshold or armor. And for weapons, ideally i would choose to get 0 flat damage and t5 % ele dot damage, t6 or t7 attack speed, and poison chance as suffix because i convert it to frostbite, and maybe bleed chance with sealed low tier frailty.

The puzzle comes into play when you start rolling T7 and T6 affixes, forcing you to keep those and fitting the rest elsewhere.

I think this guide is good as a framework that kinda works for most builds, but how you end up building your own thing depends heavily on your personal build, what t6 t7 affixes you have, etc.

In whatever suffixes you have open, that's where you'd get res (if you need it). Oftentimes you'll get most of your rse from youjr Matery + Item Implicits, and then just a tiny bit from one or two suffixes. Idols can help fill in the gaps as well - but these other affixes are specific to just one/two pieces of gear, so it's important to figure out how to fit THOSE into your build, and then afterward adding in some res.

Helpful and Confusing is the perfect description of ARPG videos. I tend to avoid DW, and I tend to favor Shields, because shields are so so strong in this game. But i'm biased -- I tend to play in HC. There's shades of grey, but that's my tldr

Wait a sec, did you say that Spell Crit and vanilla Crit do not combine (add) for a caster? Also, where's the Armor???

They do combine! But SpellCrit rolls higher numerically, so you should prioritize that. I didn't include Armor the same way that I didn't include Flat Health. If you're looking to add that into your build, this video outlines what ELSE you'll have to move around. Body Armor is a good place for %Armor and %Dodge, and flat dodge/flat armor are pretty bad everywhere.

Where do you maxmize your resists? I tend to find I need at least one type of resist on each piece to get to the 75% after idols Area should be in your skills and passive trees.

Item Implicits play a BIG roll in carrying your resistances. You'll need some resistance on your gear most likely -- and sneaking a little onto a helmet, ring, or relic can do the trick. It's all opportunity costs, all the way down.

Great content! I guess my question is, how do you decide when an item is worth crafting up to your ideal T20 item? Obviously exalted bases are best because of how much forging potential they have, but do you start on an item with an exalted desired affix even if it's just a T6 in terms of desired affixes? Do you start crafting when the item is T10+, etc.? Thanks!

Personally, i look for an exalted with a desired affix already on it. Higher tier for that additional affix is better, but t1 is okay too. Then i'll start by getting the affixes i want, and then level them up (so if the craft crits, it's free crafts all around). This is very likely not the most optimized way to do it, but i has worked very well for me so far!

What about mana / mana regen?

Depends on the build you're playing! In my experience, builds that want Mana Regen want ALL of it, up to 20 mana regen per second or so. You'll fill it in wherever possible, but it'll cost %Damage affixes most likely.
