Welcome back to another Gears of war video, in this video I'm going to be comparing Gears of War the Cole Train Augustus Cole over the years in every Gears game where he has been one of the main characters in the Gears of War franchise in delta squad alongside Gears of War Marcus Fenix, Gears of War Dominic Santiago and Gears of War Damon Baird. He first appeared in Gears of war 1 and is still with us in Gears 5!

Well they have to be careful who they kill off Dom was a hard choice but you have to think it was already set up due to him losing Maria. Even before watching the gears 3 cutscene I kind of knew he was going to die, he just lost the will to fight on in some ways. Cole and Baird liked the people they served with but the only one they really had a true chemistry with was Marcus and each other. Maybe I'm wrong but that's just how I see it. And in gears 3 Cole didn't feel like himself at all. Not looks, not attitude. Yes he had his moments in gears 3 but overall it wasn't the same Cole from 1 and 2 to me. Back to the point Cole and Baird in some aspects were more of a main duo than Marcus and Dom. Dom dying was a great decision. I'd rather him go out the way he did than survive all the games and end up as a depressed negative self hating character who constantly keeps wanting to die and making the game a negative experience for the player. I understand he lost his wife and his world but take his mental state from gears 2 and 3 now imagine he survived. He would have been even worse off. And Marcus constantly had to give him room and time and was in some ways uncomfortable being around him due to things he might say that would trigger his depression. Cole and Baird didn't have to worry about that, they were just 2 jackasses for comedic relief who loved each other and were very relatable and didn't really have any negative qualities. Yes Baird was sarcastic to the point where you would think he was an ass but he wasn't and all of his moments landed perfectly. And Cole was always a positive energetic person. Meaning there would be nothing gained by killing them off the reason wouldn't fit. These are just my thoughts

For anyone wo doesn't know Cole role in the series is that he is actually suppose to be the big brother of optimism and friendship. He also is a softy actually but he doesn't care. I read the Aspho Fields book a book that takes place between 1 and 2 and it tells Cole writes letters to his family...sadly though they are dead and he cries as Bernie lets him cry. What i like about him is that in the books the games don't show is that Cole is the sanest of the bunch and has a healthy outlit to let his emotions out. Baird though for some reason is an asshole but is an asshole because that how he copes.
