Gears 1 - Anthony's death, sniper shot him in the head, death relatively painless as he instantly died Gears 2 - Ben's death, first fell out of a helicopter into a giant worms mouth, then said worms uhh... creatures started eating him alive by removing his intestines and probably lungs along with breaking his ribcage and multiple other bones, then dragged into acidic things all while being coincious and he still manages to say "tell my brothers and my mother I love them" Gears 5 - Lizzies death, Hammer of Dawn instantly killed, terrifying for her final moments but her death is physically painless I think we all know who had the worst death. In my opinion Ben was the best Carmine despite him not having a whole lot of military training. All the moments leading up to his death from the start of the game make it a lot sadder than at first glance. He's put out on the front lines of the hospital to defend it with his life, gets too scared and hides indoors where Marcus finds him, then he gets sent off course in his grind lift where he is the only survivor of his squad, where Marcus once again finds him and saves him, then he wants to pay back the debt by holding the locust off while everyone else board the heli, but ends up costing them important time and ultimately his own life. God its so sad

Ben's death always felt like the guys were ignoring him while he was being attacked until they realized it was Ben. As if they would have left any other gear to die. I always get mad when I see his death because he coulda have been saved so easily but he had to die and they did it in a way that felt way too scripted to be young man with future dies painfully.

Dude I agree 100%. It almost took 10 full seconds for one of them to start shooting. You can blame it on bad scene writing, but if we take it for cannon, it definitely appeared like they were gonna stand by and watch a fellow human get eaten to death by those locusts.

I just recently replayed all 5 Gears games and I just wanna say, I'm glad people put some respect on Ben Carmine's name in this comment section. For being as much of a rookie as he was, Ben was a Grub killing machine. On about 3 separate occasions he managed to be the last man standing after Grub attacks left entire units he was apart of dead. And ironically, given how his brother Anthony died, he was a very competent marksman and consistently murdered things for me with that Longshot of his up until his death. As for Lizzie, she was the best waifu in that game. Shame she died so fast, she had potential to be the next Clayton Carmine. Or at the very least if she had lived longer she could've made as much of an impact as Ben. (Though she made a pretty big impact for only being in 2 chapters, though that might just be because of how emotional her death is.)

I don't consider this "Gary" Carmine to be an actual member of the Carmine family. The Carmines were a military family. Full COG, through and through. A Carmine joining the Outcasts would never happen, not if Clayton (and later Elizabeth) was still in the COG. The Carmine family would never split themselves like that; their family ties and traditions were far too strong to be shaken. Therefore, I believe this "Gary" is just someone who shared the same last name, no blood relation. No, I don't care what the Wiki says, shut up.

If Clayton dies it legit needs to be a last stand cutscene where he gets hurt in a way that reflects the deaths of other carmines. Like he gets shot by a sniper and doesn't die, gets partially eaten by a ticker, get slammed with a big object, gets singed by the hammer of dawn, and just keeps fighting through pure hate and tenacity until he finally succumbs to his wounds that are reflective of how each of his family members died. I want that man to go out in a blaze of fucking glory dieing from pure exhaustion on hill pilled high with dead grubs. That is THE ONLY way ill accept his death.

Benjamin was my favorite of the Carmines. He was a good kid. A shame Delta let him die. They literally could have grabbed him before he slowly slide out of the Raven and into the Worm's gaping maw. Ok I know it's sad but this is technically a running gag in the series because in each game they introduced a member of the Carmine family and then proceed to kill him off at some point in the game.

Benjamins death genuinely makes me cry, the horror and desperation in his voice that dissipates to agonized fear as he dies haunts me. Even during death the last thing he wanted was for him brothers to know he loved him.

(Rant) I feel like Liz was done absolutely wretched. To me, the Carmine deaths are a gag with the added effect of showcasing the brutality of war and how life can end in an instant. Liz didn't deserve what she got because they created an interesting character with her like they did with Clayton, but then killed her for plot development. That might not be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that the plot development was AWFUL. She didn't just die for plot development, she died for SHITTY plot development. JD is portrayed as this like villain character because his actions were reckless and caused people to die, but his dad did the SAME SHIT 25 years ago and was a hero for it. Specifically, when he and Delta used a, here it comes: Aging and unstable hammer of dawn satellite with poor targeting data to destroy a threat, the lambent berserker, while also risking the surrounding area and friendlies. The only thing that's different here is that JD doesn't have Marcus's plot armor. Then there is that JD did what he did because they had NO OTHER OPTION. Like there was no good call! They had an army of swarm at their doorstep including brumaks, they had a convoy of civilians that needed evacuated but was trapped, and neither the time nor firepower to sort out these problems, THE BRUMAKS WERE RIGHT THERE. Using the hammer was absolutely the right call, despite the risk. Liz and some civilians dying was horrible, but JD saved the rest of them and probably Delta squad too by calling in the hammer. The fact that Liz died for the purpose of painting JD as a villain is just horrible story writing because he made the right call. The only thing worse for a character than dying for plot development is dying for shitty plot development.
