The Boltok Pistol you accidentally picked up @8:20 is like a mini sniper rifle and is definitely considered superior to the default snub pistol my most, if not all, Gears players.

Seeing your reaction to the beserka was priceless. It's one of the few moments in gaming that I really wish I could relive for the first time again. "She can hear us, she can smell us" oh I love it! Please stick with this series. Really do hope to see you play 2 and 3 at least. Literally has some of the most unforgettable moments in gaming history, at least me for anyway

E-Holes will close automatically after a set number of enemies emerge from them, but it is always recommended to close them with a grenade, boomshot or hammer of dawn. Friendlies will also auto-revive after all enemies are killed.

Im so happy you're enjoying the game! if you like this one, you're absolutely gonna LOVE gears of war 2. BTW if you click the right stick when you aim with the sniper you can actually use the scope and kill people from further away. Im pretty sure you can also do it with the pistol to get a little bit of extra zoom.

Yep, you can do it with pistols too. The zoom isn't much with pistols, but it can help a bit when shooting enemies further away.

4:35 It's called the Rodie Run, i believe after rock band rodies that need to keep their heeds down as they run across or in front of the stage. It's not something to be used all the time as such; it's more for running to cover or across open spaces while you're under fire, hence the keeping his head down and it being called the Rodie run 😊

Don’t forget to combine running and diving. Diving forwards, sideways, and backwards is key to dodging berserkers and the like.

5:39 You can keep the chansaw revved and ready, as long as you are holding the chainsaw button, and all you have to do, is run into someone while its like that to chansaw them, so you can have it reving long before you make contact with the enemy. It's actually great for taking out those 4 legged wretches, because they have to run up to you to attack you, so if you have your chansaw revving, you chansaw them as soon as they get to you 😁👌 One thing to note though, is if you are hit by bullets, or melee attacked from behind and maybe the sides, it will interupt you and stop the chainsaw from revving, so you have to rev it up again, that's why that wretch was stopping your chansaw, because it was hitting you. Loving your Gears playthrough so far, and you are in for an absolute treat with this series mate.

You can melee enemies with the grenade equipped and you tag them. Just be sure to dive away ASAP afterward.

Finally had the time to watch this and the first video you've done for this game. Glad you figured out the timed reload thing and being able to sprint! Also the weapons can be more accurate when you're behind cover and not moving, and especially when you do short controlled bursts instead of shooting at full auto. Also the reason you weren't able to use the chainsaw on your lancer was because you were getting hit. And if you want the tags and collectables, look for the games emblem in the levels, you'll notice some immediately, but others are a bit more tucked away

Also in case you haven’t picked up on it. When you reload press the reload button again when the bar hits the white line to get an active reload that does more damage. If u miss the timing your gun will jam tho.

Quick tip if you click the RS on your controller with the sniper you will zoom in and if you push B on the controller with a shotgun sniper or pistol you can melee the enemy without wasting ammo

Just as a bit of info, these games take place on the same world as the one from the intro known as Sera and it’s completely different to our own. So none of the countries from Earth exist in this universe. Before E-Day, which is when the Locust show up, there were 2 super powers on the planet. The Union of Independent Republics aka the UIR and the Coalition of Ordered Governments aka the COG. After E-Day the UIR was wiped out pretty fast so it left the COG as the only main human nation left to fight the Locust. Also Cole was a Thrashball player which is basically American football.

Fun Fact: Berserkers are the only female locust in the locust horde and usually they sometimes would accidentally kill their own locust kind cuz their always blind and enrage but really good hearing and smell anything they hear they will run and smash anything . Berserkers are sometimes use for hunt and kill random humans still alive , and making babies in the locust horde how the locust do it well your gonna see yourself not in games but in the Gears Of War Books . You see another Berserker kill her with THE HAMMER OF DAWN .

Gears of War is the reason all of those other games (and tons of others) were cover-based third-person shooters. It was hugely influential in the 360/PS3 generation (where stuff like Uncharted has its origins). Go and pick any action game from that generation and the odds are it's a cover-based third-person shooter, specifically because of Gears. Look at all the movie tie-ins that could've been anything: the Terminator Salvation game, the Wanted game, the Star Trek game, the Harry Potter games, all cover-based third-person shooters. It's the reason Mass Effect (which started out more of an RPG) morphed into a standard cover-based third-person shooter over the course of the trilogy. And it wasn't just the gameplay that every game copied, also the art style in a sense was just as influential. It's one of the reasons why every game from that generation had the reputation of being brown and grimy, it's because Gears of War was so popular. One could argue that this was more due to the proliferation of Unreal Engine 3 in that generation, but I would respond by asking why do you think Unreal Engine 3 became so popular? Because of Gears of War. So if it seems a bit unremarkable today, it's because it was SO popular and so influential that many things the game did simply became the norm. It's similar to how if you go back and play Half Life today, you may think "sure this seems fine but I don't see what the big deal is." It's because so many games have imitated that formula that the original version seems a bit generic.

the only negative part about early Gears games is your AI companions are really, really dumb. The games are old and it's typically meant to be 2-player coop. The Berserker section is way better with a buddy. Later Gears games have much better AI
