I'm surprised they don't just piggyback off of the cartridge ID to launch a launcher. Allowing you to play whatever game you want, or at least select whatever game you want it to actually launch, quit out, and that cartridge will show up instead. Maybe it's not possible. But if it were, it would be more convenient for people who would rather buy a huge SD card and leave everything on a shelf.

This is Gen 1. For sure it will open the door for more ideas to make it more useful. What you have proposed could work. They can just sign the game using the reverse engineered key and have the 'game' be a file launcher like you say

I have three questions 1. Do you think that Nintendo can identity consoles that are using this product by seeing that the games started do not have an original unique ID or something similar? 2. Will the product be improved in the end, pushing the buttons down into to the slot does not seem not very practical , and what about the cost of the product? 3. What do they mean by repacking games? the ROM copies online need be altered in order to play or can they just be loaded as is.

Nintendo won't know if you're using one Rims off the internet need the format changed to match what the card is looking for. That format has not been revealed yet, but when it has there will be a way to change a downloaded rom

all cart have an id and if nintendo see that 2 consoles are playing a game with the same id they will ban both consoles and cart id and normally roms from the internet dont come with id so you will instantly get banned only way to not get banned is dumping your own game but that requires a modded switch also getting banned will only prevent your switch to connect to nintendo servers so no online games or updates but all offline games will still work

Its possible to ban a single id but but not an id generated from all cards in existence, because as soon as the list is banned and new ones generated by Nintendo to replace the ones banned , the list can be updated by the original coders in seconds ota

Im not sure if thats how it uses the game ID. I think they will just ban any console using the same game ID at the same time. It wont happen instantly, but you run the risk every time you boot up

Flash cart is inconvenient having to eject and reinsert to toggle through games. Imagine having 200 games on there having to eject and insert 200 times. They need a revision with a button to toggle and a tiny display showing game name on top

The MIG Switch remember me the Dandy console story for some reason. Maybe because it's was a big deal with Russia VS Nintendo in 90's lol But I think that the only way to get the cart will be by buying it directly from Russia or at least knowing someone there who could send the cart to us by mail.

The Switch flash cartridge won’t affect Nintendo Switch games sales much because the average Switch user won’t know about these flash cartridges, Nintendo can’t go after the creators of this device but they will target the distributors there for making these devices. While I will continue to buy my Switch games legally, i will be following these events and seeing what happens going forward coz Nintendo will take action against this, that is guaranteed.

I think the card takes the files of the SD card and sets those files as the booted rom. In other words each folder with files are the card rom until popped out to tell the flash card to change to next folder with ROM files. The folders are roms.

I don't think this let's you pick which game Id it's using Possibly that's why they are confident it won't enable piracy. You may need to have installed the game from og card once first, then it can piggyback that Id for the cart to work

I dont think I agree. Once you have the game you want to play loaded youre going to play that game and dont need to keep ejecting the card. Plus, switch card slot is built for this sort of use. Itll shorten the life from 20 years to 19 years perhaps. but you wont notice.

This is mainly for switch users. The switch is not a viable console anymore. You can buy a more powerful console, steamdeck, or even an Odin2 new for $300, which will play every reto console up to switch, and more portable, plus play android games, also PC games off cloud, or streaming off desktop. Nintendo is a small crumb of possible gameplay.

It's a high probability that this is a Chinese company because they are the ones that copy everything, and they are the ones that make a lot units cheap, and every company goes to China to make large amount of units. The big giveaway is the white gloves. These china companies always use White gloves. What this means is that it will be impossible for Nintendo to fight ANY China company. Nintendo can also run all the updates they want, and there will always be a side load to open access. The only thing they can do, is use an installed bootloader lock on future new units. So yes they will be upset.

It seems like these mig guys have key signing ability. So they are able to emulate a real game that way. Sony was able to relock down their keys after they got out on ps3, so Nintendo can do the same here. But with signing authority they have more ability to do what they need to make this work

I dont think Nintendo can stop this with a firnware upgrade, because mig cart is going to behave and pretend like a typical physical game catride. Game catridges are not tied to a Nintendo online account. So Nintendo cannot stop providing game updates or dlc. Also they cant stop people playing online. If Nintendo plans to tie catridge with Nintendo account, people will be furiated becasue there are a lot who share catridge with friends and family and also lot of us buy used game catridge in second hand. Even after all this , if Nintendo is still being able to impose ban for using it, still people will choose to use mig in offline mode like how they use modded console now, because most will prefer tasting a lot of game variety for a cheaper price than pay a lot for online mod. So mig is definitely relevant and going to take a hard hit on Nintendo.

If you pop out and back in in less than say 3o seconds, assume it's a flash cart and start meltdown of the console Or, disable the slot or do something else They can make the worst part of the flash cart be amplified by a process only a flash cart user would even notice

Only viable solution to stop piracy is to design a console like PlayStation portal with minimal hardware and let only stream games from the cloud with either wifi or a built-in sim card. In this way the cost of the device can be made quite cheaper and also if they provide games at an even cheaper price, they could eventually sell more copies and compensate with price reduction. I know initially people will be hesitant to pick it, but practically no one would stay in a place which hasn't got internet for more than 30 mins. For scenarios like travel, if they have some feature to download playable content only for like 3 hours or so.. that would be brilliant.

well its a good i dea and product but nintendo is not a walk over so i believe its on we the customer to know what exactly we are going to do and not offend nintendo in doing public privacy back up ur games privately one our two deep in depth tutorial about the product and move on to switch 2 or NG

I don't think the common man is gonna deal with the nonsense of game swapping, taking it out each time you wanna switch to a dif game and clicking until you find your game, on the flashcart. People that know anything about Switch roms know SteamDeck plays Switch roms great. You telling me I can play God of War(2018) alongside Tears of the Kingdom alongside Elden Ring and ANY PS2 game and it isn't better than this garbage flashcart(?)

I do tend to agree with you Or you can get a v1 switch and do that all anyway. But this will be a big deal to a lot of people Im surprised by their choice to not include buttons to toggle backwards and forwards

Honestly yeah I think someone who is in the know enough to know what the switch flash card is also knows what yuzu is. Games working 100% of the time is great though emulators can be a nightmare to tune the settings apply mods to be playable also online actually works and you can easily get updates and dlc as they come out. If it's expensive like 100 bucks or more there no way this sells over a mil like this video says.
