Truly sad, I remember spending so many days there as a kid, I attended the final day of operation unknowingly and right after that it was gone. I loved this place

We did as well. Every visit to CP was followed by a visit to Geuaga Lake. At least we managed to visit and have our memories of what was once an amazing park.

I'm in Michigan and all I can say is that between the remnants of Thunderhawk here and Michigan and the continual success of Cedar Point, we still have great places to go to.

The double loop was my first experience of upside down rollar coasters. I remember being scared but my mom told me to remember to keep your head back into the seat when going in the loops and you’ll be fine. I loved it. Eventually I graduated to thunder hawk. Sitting in the front seat just before take off, I was crying and so scared but a very kind lady sitting next to me said “just scream your head off, nothing is scary when you just focus on screaming as loud as you can”. I always remember this park fondly and the experiences I had here that led me to be the roller coaster lover that I am today.

Oh what wonderful memories I have of Geauga Lake Park! I was so heartbroken when I found out it had closed down. I remember back as far as 4yrs old, every summer for birthday, my dad would take the day off work if he had to just to take me there. Just me & him for my birthday, every year until I was 13yrs old then he'd just take me & my two best friends there for my birthday & drop us off so we could spend the day there & he'd come back by 7pm to pick us up. I went every year until I was 19 for my birthday. As time went on, I took my daughter there as well until she was 9yrs old & they shut it down. So many memories, thanks for sharing this video. It offered a piece of my childhood memories to me.

Thanks for watching 🙂 Yes, it was an incredible park. More so on our first visit in 2003 when the other side of the water was full of exhibits and shows. It was quite a shock to see how much the park had been downgraded by 2007. No one saw the closure coming however, we had no idea this would have been our final visit at the time. At least we were lucky enough to visit at all, there's a whole generation now that's missed out on this park. It's such a shame.

It is disgusting to see how this park was treated in its last half decade of operation. This looked like one of the best theme parks ever. I am still lucky enough to have ridden 6 of the 10 rollercoasters at other parks after relocation
@XtremeCoasters Жыл бұрын
Yes, agree. It was a stunning park. By 2007, many of the rides and attractions had already been removed. Did you watch the Six Flags World of Adventure footage we have uploaded? That was filmed back in 2003 when the park was in its absolute prime. It was one of our favourite parks of the 2003 trip, and we visited a lot of parks that trip!

As many times as I had been there (100’s) I can’t for the life of me remember that water boat ride (snake river falls looking ride). Where was it located in the park exactly? From the video looks like it was right along the lake maybe behind where the wave pool was? Not exactly sure but positive I saw Big Dipper in the background
@XtremeCoasters3 жыл бұрын
It was called Ship Wreck Falls, and opened at the park in 2000. It backed onto the Big Dipper, the stations for both rides were pretty much next to each other. It was a good ride, the station theming was great. It's a shame it's been scrapped now. It did manage to survive one final season after Geauga Lake closed, but the park it was relocated to also closed.

Yeah they knew what they were doing. They didn’t want anymore competition than they already had within the state so buying out geauga lake and shipping the rides off to their other parks was in their best interests unfortunately

I miss this place so bad. I wish it were still around today. The X-Flight was my favorite ride there. The arcade games I remember the most playing there, I remember playing Mortal Kombat 3 there and also Mortal Kombat 4. Those 2 games I remember the most. R.I.P. Geagua Lake 1887 - 2007

@@XtremeCoastersI could go on and on about it. It breaks my heart. It really was one of Ohio's best kept secrets and us kids from nearby communities practically lived there during summer vacation. We were really excited when Six Flags bought it promising to make it better than ever. Well, they definitely did; but they doubled the cost of admission. They didn't care about the generations of locals who had frequented the park for over a century, Six Flags wanted to challenge Kings Island and Cedar Point for a piece of their heavy tourist base and tried to turn it into a destination park. The locals abandoned it after the obscene price hike and it had no more customers.

The kid's commentary on Dominator brings me right back to riding it 14 times in a row as a kid myself, the first time my family visited in 2004. We really wished we had visited this park more. Its a shame that this property that was over a 100 years old closed due to a greedy franchise's poor planning.

Them coasters might be gone but they are definitely not scrapped! The batman or whatever it was called later on was bad ass! The superman was dope as hell the villan was a nasty one too. The wooden coasters aged hard. The raging something was rough like too rough to actually enjoy at all so I can see why they tor down alot. The north ohio weather is super hard also from an amusement and maintaining level it must be crazy insane . Just watching the Batman run man that coaster was so smooth when it opened it was insane. Kinda curious where it ended up. I'm absolutely positive that thing might of went for refurbishment but it's definitely not gone 💯 there's no way in hell anyone would do it it's somewhere else for sure.

Batman Kinght Flight is now operating as Dominator at King's Domion. Superman is now called Possessed and operates at Dorney Park, The Boomerang (Head Spin) went to Carowlinds. Apart from the odd small family coaster, pretty much every other ride at the park was scraped, or has since been scraped.
