Naw he's an ectomorph. He can probably hit 23 realistically. 200lbs lean isn't possible with such small bone structures. He'd be hugh A/F if he could make it to 200lbs and still be lean. 180-185 and somewhat lean is realistic for him.

@@drmvp21 We’ll see but whatever happens the bulks will help. When I say lean I mean within the 12-15 percent body fat range. 200lbs 5’10-11 15% body fat at the absolute minimum should be a fairly reasonable goal. There are many “ectomorphs” that made it to around 24 ffmi from like gvs, alex leonidas and natural hypertrophy.

@@michaelm8188 in a lean state none of those guys are over 23.5. And Leonidas has a thicker structure then this guy. 200 lbs isn't possible naturally whike being lean and of average height. 180 lbs at 10 percent puts him at 24 ffmi. 200 lbs is possible but for what?? His bodyfat will be high for no reason. His ffmi is already near 23. There's a reason Leonidas isn't going back to bear mode.

I think there’s some truth to what Greg Doucette is saying. Just lift at a body fat you’re comfortable at, maybe 15% or higher / lower, and just stay consistent. I think so many people are fake nattys that we’ve forgotten what a great natural physique looks like and how long it takes to get it. Just eat right, train hard, and enjoy the journey.

I just got off the stage yesterday and placed second in my class for Men's Physique at a local show for NPC. I totally agree with what is said in this video. This is bodybuilding. You should continue to build muscle and make progress year after year and not just to look lean. Social media influencers who have never stepped on the stage and hear from real judges critiques. They will place low if they go on stage and see how much muscle others have packed on.

I believe men continuingly build muscle until their t levels drop from older age. There are diminishing returns but gains never fully stop until you hit a old age and even than it’s maintainable. I.e. Even if someone lifted for 7-10 years and got most of their gains if they continued for another 15 years they will look quite notably better.

I'm a muscular skinny guy and I was 133 lbs last month at 5'9 then a month later going on a bulk along with 5 days in the gym I went up to 148 lbs. I'm doing progressive overload but I've noticed that as I gain weight and still look lean it's becoming harder to do the same amount of reps I'm use to. I'm a hard gainer so I could eat 3000 calories in a day and might not gain the weight. Any tips?

@@andrewreed1329 I’m actually gaining weight again. Went from 148 lbs to 155 lbs now. I guess I just needed to wait. It seems like I’m mesomorph because my additional calories with protein and carbs just add to the muscles instead of turning into fat. I’m so use to eating one meal a day which I know is crazy due to stress but when I finally did research into the proper gym regiment for me and proper diet to compensate I believe I’ve been making crazy strides. The one pit fall is I’m not as fast as I was when I was 135 lbs but I’m stronger. Started with 30 lbs dumbbells and now I’m up to 50 lbs.
@eldawii
@eldawii Жыл бұрын
Eat less. At 133 lbs 5'9 your BMR is around 2300 cal which means you're in a 700 calorie surplus. The maximum amount of lean muscle you can build per month is about 2 lbs which means you've gained almost 12 lbs of excess fat. The reason you still look lean is probably because you has a very low bf% to begin with.

It’s simple science fellas. Let’s say you weigh 180 and your height is 6”0. You want to look muscular at 200 so you eat the calories it requires to have the weight of 200 and you workout. Don’t go over or less and you will maintain your muscle and weight without compromising muscle. Also if you want to stay at 180 and be muscoeasy eat the calories you need to keep your weight at 180 while lifting weight.

15-17% is fluffy to you? and 20% is genuinely overweight? Maybe when you go by the terrible estimates many men (including myself) make in the earlier years. I'm probably around the bf% you are here: 3:18 and I know I am lean. You have visible abs in that shot, bro! The only reason to cut before 25% bodyfat is that you don't want it to take too long to get back to the low-point of your range. I'm still cutting because I want to try to maintain a range of 12-18%, but man. If you have noticeable muscle development and you lift regularly and earnestly, even more so if you are somewhat active beyond that, you'll be healthy, perhaps even at 30% bodyfat. Assuming, of course, that you're eating real food and not garbage.

What is your goal right now? Are you trying to cut, maingain or bulk? I'll give you an example of how you could proceed: If you went 500 calories over your goal in those two days combined and you have a goal to hit your target weight in like 20 days, then reduce your target calories by 25 calories/day for the next 20 days. 500 surplus calories / 20 days = 25 calories/day. Keep in mind that TDEE is very difficult to estimate, TDEE absolutely does fluctuate over time and you have no clue if you really had X amount of surplus calories in those 2 days. This is just a ballmark estimate of what you can do. I think its counterproductive to adopt the mentality of "I went over 500 calories in those 2 days so I'm going to go under 500 calories today." If your calorie deficit is too large, you run more of a risk of losing muscle mass.

Most people after 3-5 years won't really gain more muscle naturally and also stay lean. There's a natural breaking point where to be 9-12% body fat you will always return to the same muscle amount. Social media all makes people think they need more muscle than they do.

Bulk for 5 days, intermittent fast (20+ hours) for 2 days. That's a theory I had, but I haven't done it long enough to notice results. My reasoning is based on the fact that HGH released during intermittent fasts protects the muscle while you dip well into your fat stores.
@AJ-jo2ub
@AJ-jo2ub Жыл бұрын
Hey man, I can tell you right know that it isn't going to work that way. The protein you eat divided through the day is going to help a lot more than the negligible increase in HGH. In case you want more info: Even large amounts of HGH build so little muscle that it isn't worth it for most bodybuilders, which is why you only start seeing GH use at the higher levels of bodybuilding competitions.
@lancerevo9747
@lancerevo9747 Жыл бұрын
@@AJ-jo2ub I thought the HGH increases were much larger than that, in the neighborhood of 2000%, and it's the testosterone increases that are negligible.

@AJ-jo2ub Жыл бұрын
@@lancerevo9747 that 2000%* is somewhat of a "graphs missinterpretation" I belive, but now I'm not sure. Even then, it's not about testosterone, gh, or any other hormone, it's more about the building blocks of muscle. I'm sorry for another long explanation but here it goes. Feel free to not read this: Trying to use that increase in hgh for muscle growth, specifically, is like building a house, but spending the materials-money on more workers to get the job done faster. Yes, you have the workers, but now you don't have the materials to build the house. And since hgh isn't stored anywhere, but rather used within 24h of it's deployment, you can't use the protein you ingest the day after. Oh, and the same goes for protein too, there aren't any substantial storages of protein in your body to build muscle in those 2 days. At the end of the day, it isn't about the increase in hormones or its significance, it's about the lack of building blocks to build muscle. Also, I don't want you to think that I'm dennying the benefits of fasting. I do believe there are other health benefits to it, it's just that muscle growth isn't one of them.

For newbs you should eat 500 calories over maintenance for 3yrs straight while working out. Go on a cut for 4wks in may and by June you will be looking like a fucking gorilla. Don’t cut after that maintenance is key for the rest of the summer but after that get back to bulking

I think guys make the mistake of not bulking initially for the first 1-2 years with newbie gains. Just build a base, get strong at basic lifts, etc. When they do eventually cut, they have muscle to show and a strong core from compound lifts to let abs show. The trend of "get lean first" the last 7-8 years has really hurt strength levels overall. I mean, guys now are acting like 225 on bench is the new 315. It's weird too how so many guys are bragging about cutting down to 135-150lbs. 🤣

@Ignasimp - The one common thing in getting lean though is having a muscular appearance with low bodyfat. But you can't have a "lean" look if you don't have muscle initially to show when you lose fat. If you cut first, you just look skinny fat.
