Especially since it was pretty much confirmed that time doesn't really pass in the necklace, and whatever is inside has no real idea of what's happening outside. Yes Travis is an incredible player, but I don't see how this exemplfies his professionalism. He got a lower roll on his Perception check than Vex's Sleight of Hand check. Following the narrative the DM describes because of the dice rolls in this binary perception check is all anyone can do. Grog either realizes Vex's attempt at deception or he doesn't. Everyone at the table does this. Hell Marisha who so many hate for arguing with Matt about rule calls accepts the results of dice rolls.... KeyFish is one example of that.

@@Kasino80 ya, in thordaks lair she was already super against grog having the deck so much so that the cast joked that laura herself was transported into the game world to tell grog not to use it, even before percy told them what it was. The "best" part is that everyone was taking a short rest in the cave while grog ran back into the lair to loot, so none of them should really even be aware that grog found the deck. Then the whole bs with her substituting the deck for a bag of rocks on the fly with no planning is terrible, the fact that the dm straight up told travis ya grog you cant notice the difference between a bag of rocks and a card deck is super infuriating. Yes Grog has and intelligence of 6, but 1)it is such an easy thing to see through there really shouldn't even have been a check for a normal person 2) if matt felt like grog was dumb enough to potentially fall for it the dc should have been 5(very easy) not a contested role between Vex and grog because no amount of slide of hand is going to convince someone that a bag of rocks is a deck of cards 3)for vex to get away with it she really should have had to at the very least have found something vaguely rectangular to put in the bag, if not an actual forgery check beforehand for an insight/perception check to even make sense. Everyone else is like but percy told them that it was dangerous, but none of them should have even been aware of the fact that grog found the deck because they were all taking a short rest away from the lair except for grog.

@Jabokk20005 жыл бұрын
So from 2:43:58 Grog gets 76 total damage. So the equation would be x/2+x/2+x+x=76 or 3x=76 == x=25.333# damage per fireball which doesn't sound right. Matt mentions shortly after that it was 78 instead which would be 26 per fireball which makes since but "Grog" says its 72 which would be 24 per fireball. However Percy takes 56 total @ 2:45:20 with all saves making it 2x=56 == x=28 per fireball meaning Grog actually took 84 total but Matt (DM) makes it 88 which would be 29.333# per fireball which also makes no sense. Feel like in this scenario a GM should just mention that a single fireball is xDamage and then have players calculate from there. But I've never played DnD so idon't know if just exclaiming how much damage a single attack does is against the "rules"/RP. Also at 2:52:37 Grog is corrected to have made all saving throws at 56 total damage making it 28 damage per fireball or if it had been a total failure on all throws 112 damage total. TL;DR Skulls actually cause 28 damage per fireball. Only replying cause this is the second top comment at this time

As well as for Mary [Zahra], Will (NOT Wheaten) [Kesh] to show up in C2 as either new Characters or reprise their respective Characters, as I would LOVE to see Zahra interact with Jester, especially see how Kesh interacts with all of the Mighty Nien (specifically Jester, Yasha, Fjord & Beau). Though, I would love to see Zahra, Jester & Lilllith (Kit Buss) interact with each other, especially if Zahra &/or Lillith knew Molly; prior to becoming Molly, when he was Lucian, perhaps even before he joined up with The Tomb Takers. @mr.mayhem40542 жыл бұрын
They're far and away the best of the group, IMO. Which is perhaps a bit ironic considering they're both playing what are often described or regarded as the comic relief characters, and yet, they're the most consistent, least metagamed characters who seem to have much more thought behind them that actually leads to real development. They let their characters guide their decision making as players, rather than just using their characters as proxies for what they--the player--wants to do, which is often the impression I get from some of the others. They don't tend to derail or railroad anyone too obnoxiously. Their comedic timing is often on point, and rarely feels unwarranted or out of place. Their moments of drama don't feel inorganic, forced, or overly melodramatic. I never really find myself cringing at anything they're doing. And they, perhaps more than any other characters, really tend to flesh out the heart of the group. Virtually all of the most outstanding, entertaining, and iconic moments involve and depend on one or both of them. Without them, I wouldn't still be watching, TBH.

I would say, in terms of respecting the law of the GM, Liam and Taliesin are up there too. Liam is far more familiar with the rules of DnD than any of the other players and he uses the knowledge at his disposable to create intricate interactions. He always explains his reasoning to Matt and only goes back and forth until he understands the reasonings that Matt chooses instead. He doesn't necessarily argue just to gain favor. He goes by the rules and backs off when he realizes he's wrong or when he deems it's not worth it to drag it out in the middle of a game. Taliesin, in my opinion, can normally be placated with a simple explanation and is more along for the ride.
@stormrider72355 ай бұрын
This is JUST in terms of going along with DM rulings. Metagaming and other aspects, Sam and Travis are superior, absolutely. @@MatheusRangel_ It's part of the game, I think it wasn't bad to pull the cards from grog himself. But the manner in which it was done was a little snakey. But vex just yoinked them like she knew what each card already did and they all technically were taking a short rest and were outside of the hoard. and they magically know he picked up the cards and put 0 effort in the switch of the decks. just insulting grogs already low intelligence. He should know the difference in pouches and feel. It was a weird move. But i ain't mad, just didn't feel like the right way to do it. To be fair, the problem is Matthew. He forgets that he has these two characters as part of the group until he is reminded they are present by someone in the party asking a question. Allure and ESPECIALLY Kima would never be so passive in most of the puzzles they encountered. Having said that, THIS is why playing NPCs who travel and fight like PCs is really hard for a DM. He is already tasked with essentially babysitting the party as they talk endlessly and go on their own tangents, not listening to his words, being oblivious to the parameters of their own spells, metagaming their way out of situations-- --- On top of managing his world, the encounters, and detailing the environments --- It's only natural HE, himself, would easily forget to engage his characters into what is happening, just as the other PCs do

It's really sad that this drug subplot is Scanlan's cry for help, but his typical lax demeanor is keeping his friends from taking it seriously. It's honestly very bold storytelling in a medium that seldom explores it. Sam is the type of player I strive to be.

@Foreverskull0 I don't recall a lot of checks about this leading up to the blow up, but I appreciate that yes. However, if that were the case, I think it would be lazy of the cast members to blame game mechanics and their characters for not noticing what seemed like a very obvious diversion from character Scanlan was having. I think Sam was trying to teach them all something during that arc, to be more character driven, something really only he and Laura were doing. All the others were exactly the same person as they were in episode 1.

I wouldn't have been able to handle my magic weapon that I believed I earned and showed no previous signs of a curse suddenly rusting in my hand and bestowing an almost incurable curse on me. but, I'd also understand that it was a misunderstanding as well, and that it should have been a curse instead of a weapon from the get-go. my character would still be a little salty though, and probably not trust unfamiliar magic weapons for a while Grog and Travis accepted and handled that like a champ.

Grog doesn’t trust any magic sword hence he talks to every one
@bishop62183 жыл бұрын
Well honestly he already has a fuckton of powerful weapons, including the newly-acquired baby Mjolnir, so that probably mitigated the pain quite a bit 😉
@shigure27 Жыл бұрын
@@bishop6218 well new weapons don't mean much when he can't ever hit anything with them. All the enemies have been difficult if not impossible for him. Every fight is just grog running around trying to get in a position to hit. Even his new hammer is kinda meh considering he needs to reckless attack just to not have disadvantage on every attack. He would be better off with Craven edge if the party didnt also take that from him, he could still safely use it as long as he didnt stack exhaustion like he did that one time. Combat is the only thing Grog is technically good at and yet he's still the top 2 RPer with Sam just by using his 6 int. I mean this series started with several episodes where grog was effectively "dead" and couldn't talk or move. Sheesh.

I also feel bad that they take advantage of Grog and in turn Travis. I hope he gives himself WAYY more freedom in future episodes as he is such an amazing player and guy.

Low int characters tend to be limiting, unfortunate but no ones fault
@colefilms3 жыл бұрын
@@ExecutionerArtemy not at all saying this is the scenario, but if everyone is aware that there is a low int character that doesn’t give the higher int characters carte Blanche to basically abuse them. This obviously isn’t the case with this group because most of the time grog is treated pretty well, but this episode and the last just had a lot of misfortune for grog and it kind of just got multiplied with the normal banter.

Man I feel for Travis playing grog sometimes. His idea for pyke to carpet across and then dimension door while he flew on the carpet was decent and they all just ignore it because it’s grog 😂

Carpet was a bigger target for zombies so not a great idea, really.

Team Half-Elf: *screaming reactions to everything* Percy: *trying in vain to help and get a cohesive plan* Grog and Kerr: *watching the circus* As soon as stealth and flying don't work, Team Half-Elf just cannot function. It turns into a cluster of yelling over each other and Grasping Vines.

B/c they have zero strategy or skill. they are completely reliant on all the magical items they hoard vs. using strategy and thinking thru situations. Not to mention their need to be center of attention or do the flashiest moves feeds their greed for all the items. Like Laura in season 2 is the WORST healer EVER! She complains about having to heal ppl, let's ppl go unconscious b/c she wants to attack (usually missing) rather than heal. Cadueces (sp?) has to come in as a healer to make up for her selfish playing.
@agilemind62415 жыл бұрын
@@ee930 Well she's mostly right about healing, except for the "Mass XXX" healing spells they generally aren't worth it. You're almost always better off preventing damage with buffs/debuffs and killing the baddies than trying to keep up with healing. Mechanically, letting people go unconscious is the most optimal strategy since any damage beyond what is necessary to get them to 0 is essentially cancelled.
@elowery12365 жыл бұрын
@@agilemind6241 Wrong.. if you're unconscious, you're not dealing dmg. The point of the healer is to heal so that those who deal meaningful dmg can do so and end the fight asap. Scanlan rarely gets meaningful dmg in because hes doing his job as a bard but is able to turn the tides of a fight because of it.

Even Kerr didn't make a lot of sense there. Percys plan to just use the f-ing rope to go across that bridge was perfect. Why try to do wierd flying maneuvers. Then the onlyone left to get across would be grog and even he might be able to use the rope if he would find a spot to tie it to and even if he wouldn't find such a spot he has the athetics bonus to hold on to the brigde.

percy is the most useless of them all imo, "i have a plan", "I have a theory", "i have an IDEA!!!", but im not going to tell anyone anything because im bsing. lets kill innocent dragonites so that the white dragon will trust us, rip out the hostages tongue and melt his face for lols, i can slingshot a floating orb of death that cant be touched or have magic used on it at a dragon somehow, im going to stab an ancient green dragon meer feet away from my sister..... urgh *definitely the least tactical or morally aware character/player in campaign 1
