Play tested this the other night (in Nashville where the designers live) and I can attest it’s a super super fun game- I can’t wait to back this!

We Got to play test it a few weeks ago- we really liked it. Definitely going to be getting our own copy of the official release. It’s easy to pick up, fairly quick play once you are used to the cards and you don’t have to keep rereading the card to remember your abilities. Similar in nature to 5 minute marvel meets munchkin- but with a firefly twist. It’s enjoyable to play and it’s a game that even our teenage boys really enjoyed- which translated to a number of fun family game moments during play testing.

Deck builders can be interesting but they're rarely my go-to style of game. BUT: Moonrakers is a blast! Players race to score 10 Prestige to win the game. It's entirely possible to play this game with limited "allying" but this game comes into its own when players use the unique negotiating mechanism to get together to tackle difficult contracts. While it's against your primary interests to help another player win, we've had far more fun on our table by trying to facilitate ties or even catapulting other players into winning the game. For example, Player "A" needs 4 more prestige to win the game and is trying to get players to rally to their cause. The contract they've selected will give them 4 Prestige, 9 Credits, and 1 Bonus card but 3 Hazard dice also need to be rolled to complete the contract. They negotiated the following terms with Player "B" who needs only 1 more Prestige to win the game: Player A: 4 Prestige, 3 Hazards Player B: 9 Credits, 1 Bonus card If the contract succeeds, Player "A" has the potential to win the game. But, since Player "A" is going to roll the 3 Hazard dice, Player "B" is lending a hand while hoping that Player "A" won't be able to chain the necessary cards together to shield from the potential Hazards, therefore losing Prestige before being able to claim victory! This might even put Player "B" into a stronger position of winning the game. This has led to some very interesting and, ultimately, more satisfying games. After all, the Moonrakers needs a leader! And maybe they'll remember your help they gained as they rose to power... It also keeps the games friendly, and keeps interactions between players at a high!

This seems like a mash up of Waterdeep scoring and resources, TI4 negotiations and intrigue, being ruled by deck building. I just got my copy today and easily digested the rules, looking forward to playing this weekend with my TI4 group... Also...investing in a few extra packs of coins make great metal replacements for TI4 commodity/trade goods... Also get the metal ships, 1 pack of thr coins come with the regular set and the included boards seem nicer quality than the add on neoprene mats...the plastic ships overall look like crap next to the metal coins and the quality of the cards and boards.

I noticed this being advertised on fb about an hour ago, checked the website while listening to wandering flame from ffx, then checked this video for a review, and out of every track in existence you could have used for the background music... what are the chances of that happening lol

Missing some context here. There was one card that said " prison moon ". This seems to indicate a different moon. Some of the backstory of the game would have been nice. Besides the one card, the only other mention of moon was in the name. Are there multiple moons? Is that where the base is? On a moon? Feel like some info was left out.
@austinharrison24635 жыл бұрын
While it doesn't mention moons all that often, if you want to learn more about the history of the Moonrakers, you can check out the backstory comic here: moonrakersgame.com/origins

What makes this game fun? Serious question! Explain the shenanigans that could happen!
@austinharrison24635 жыл бұрын
There are definitely some shenanigans in the Game the Game episode coming! Some light backstabbing, heavy deckbuilding, and lots of negotiation/off turn play keep the game engaging and fun.

By adding the S on the name they can avoid any harassment from Ian Fleming's estate. Luckily the game has nothing in common with the movie. Kind of a bummer as that would have been interesting.
