Same here. I've no idea how well the Critical Role gang knows Wil, he did guest once, but I feel like with them having their own company and studio, without bullshit from higher ups since they are in charge, they could provide the perfect place for Wil to start a new tabletop show if he'd still be interested in doing that. Might be able to provide him with a more comfortable shooting schedule too since that studio is always there, and I bet they could use a game table for other shows too. Like demonstrating their own produced board games, but also play whatever game they feel like and upload for the everything is content bits. Or even a short campaign if they want to. Would be pretty fun to see them play Imperial Assault with Matt as the Imperial player and seeing them all come up with voices for their characters. Wil's show couldn't be named tabletop for legal reasons I'd imagine, but with the Critical Role gang there'd already be a good pool of guests to draw from, especially with their combined circle of friends. Now that G&S is pretty much gone, operated only by a skeleton crew making occasional uploads, previous G&S folk might be free to play a game at the table too. Would sure be fun to have Felicia there once in a while.

Wow, kept waiting for the Owlbear professor to pop up. For instance, at 20:05, they should enter the second tile on the flip spot (in the stream), not on the random entrance they picked. And the fishhook can be found anywhere in the water, not necessarily on the flip spot. The only reason there's a fishhook on the flip spot icon is because you'd need the fishhook to climb back up into the guardroom.

I am in half of this terrific journey through one of my favorite BG, but that means I played a lot, made a lot of mistakes with the rules and feels like I should contribute with a few advices: 1- when a rat minion rolls a cheese defending Filch the cheese goes to the wheel to see if it explodes but if not, the cheese goes to Filch because he steals it. 2 - When the same kind of monster is adjacent to 2 or more mice, but one of them has already been attacked, the second one atacks the next in initiative order, so Filch wouldnt be attacked twice, while Nez should be the target. 3 - When u explore the floor in prision, ur team drops in fishook mark on the water of the sewer an not near the door,

Not reading the comments to find out if this has been said, but when there are two friendly mice and two enemy mice all in attack range, the first enemy will hit the mouse highest on the init track. The next enemy attack will go to the NEXT highest, to prevent a mouse from eating double attacks if he has friends close. Basically Filch would not eat two back to back attacks at 16 minutes in. @patrickgoggles78649 жыл бұрын
Paul Darcy I winced when I saw that they were doing Mice and Mystics. Not because I'm a rules lawyer, but I knew they'd get jumped on for it. The rulebook for Mice and Mystics is pretty rubbish(and I love Plaid Hat Games) and there are just a lot of wonkiness going on with it. A lot of the rules that I see them doing wrong, they're doing it in a way that makes a lot more sense than the actual rules. Such as enemies being affected by water.
@feyntmistral11109 жыл бұрын
+Patrick Goggles Yeah, the rules do say enemies are unaffected by water, but that doesn't really make a lot of sense. Also, I've take a popular home rule where if the last enemy dies at the end of the turn order and you'd just get cheese right away, you skip that. Skipping commenting on some other (very few and minor) errors though and a missed opportunity since they're working with a schedule and the rules that got messed up kind of push the game into, "Welp, let's try again!" territory. Though, Wil, season finale. We don't mind 1+ hour episodes. If you guys want to take your time for a cool board game one a season, go for it.
@phillip227229 жыл бұрын
I have always felt that you should play the game the way you want to play it. If you want to omit a rule or two, or if you want to add a rule or two, then go for it. Playing the game exactly as the official rulebook states every time is kind of pointless. I love "house rules" as they are called. Also, I hate anyone who gets on them for "errors". This is fun, this is entertainment. Why would you care if it is played exactly to letter? Just enjoy it. Those people that jump on them for messing up the rules, those people to me need to pull the stick out of their butt.

Great game! Still - at least on camera - it seems too simple for an RPG player, and a bit too complicated for a non-RPG player. Will kind of worked as a non-DM-DM on the game. But that's fine, because it might bridge the gap for someone who loves playing RPG, and wants to introduce it to friends through an easier one. That's on camera, though. Up close, I bet it becomes much easier and thus better for non-RPG players. I will take Will's word for it, because Will is the best. ;). Also, thanks for the show. :).

Lincoln Noronha sadly i think this game encapsulates almost everything wrong or off-putting about "modern" gaming - its just a bastard offspring of D&D and a board game - too cutesy for adults, too complicated for kids - gamers typically over estimate the level of complication that most people can endure to even want to play a game I think Legends Of Andor pulls off a mashup of RPG and Boardgame far better
@DrMcCoy9 жыл бұрын
Lincoln Noronha To me, this kinda looks like a cutesy version of Descent? Which, sure, is interesting for a while, but I at least wouldn't recommend it as an introduction into roleplaying. But then again, I'm roleplaying more for the story-telling instead of the tactical battle.

This game has a lot of playing options with 11 chapters or something and you could win or not win on the first try which is why its so good and diverse with characters. TLDR: I am NOT excusing the rules errors, but the big picture is that the hobby is is being spread. Wrong rules. They infuriate so many of us. They annoy some of us. And some of us don't care. I'm in the second category, but almost in the third. ***** and the production team try their best to get all of the rules right. Are they 100% successful? No. Are you? Don't kid yourself. The big picture is, what Wil is doing is spreading our great hobby to an audience who we cannot reach. They ARE trying to get everything right, and they have extra eyes on things to help ensure that things are right, but whether they get things right or not, the hobby is being spread. "But the rules he is getting wrong makes the game better/worse/harder. Isn't he giving people false expectations about the games?" Wil picks games for Tabletop based on theme and fun; those things are not affected by the occasional broken rule for the most part. And if they are? Well, maybe people can choose to play that way, or add any other houserule. Or maybe they can read the rules for themselves and learn how to play the game correctly. Because you know what? When you purchase a game, it becomes YOUR game, and you can actually play it the way that YOU want. If you do make a change, the other people have to be on board with this, of course, but it is still an option. The main thing is that we have fun with the boardgames we play. And the more people who get a chance to enjoy this hobby, the better it is for all of us.

JaredTheTwitch Yup. =/

JaredTheTwitch Yes. On every single Tabletop episode :(
@daparsons12349 жыл бұрын
JaredTheTwitch If you're using Firefox, that's probably the cause. There's a known issue with FF and the HTML 5 player that audio loses sync and gradually gets worse as the video goes on. It isn't really noticeable unless the video is longer than 3-4 minutes, though. Chrome doesn't seem to have that problem, so I've been using that instead for the last few months. ...Or it's something to do with newly uploaded videos, which I just read on another comment...
@HirionOfDale9 жыл бұрын
I do use Firefox, but the audio is off just off the bat from the start. I have also tried watching the video through my other browsers and the audio problem is the same.

Doug Parsons its out of sync - on tis vid a bit, not too bad but a bit weird at times - its unlikely to be FF as previous recent vids never had the problem

I know! My 9+ pet rats rail against this rampant stereotyping and criminalisation of the rat race. No wonder they end up as minions in Evil armies. It's so hard for them to find a decent job with all the bad press they get...

Is Nolan a step child of some sort considering his lack of the surname Wheaton?
@connormawe019 жыл бұрын
Both Ryan and Nolan are Will's step-sons. As to why Nolan didn't change his name and/or changed it again later, your guess is as good as mine.
@emmablohm19 жыл бұрын
both are his step children but I think Ryan adopted the name Wheaton whereas Nolan didn't and kept his original surname.
@Life_Siphon9 жыл бұрын
***** Nolan and Ryan are Anne's children from a previous relationship. It is to my understanding that since Ryan shares the Wheaton name, that Wil legally adopted him.
@TheRealMichaelH9 жыл бұрын
***** Yes. They were both Wil's stepchildren for most of their lives, and then when Ryan was 19, he asked Wil to officially adopt him. By the way, you could have gotten all of this from Wil's Wikipedia page, just like everyone else does.
Its truly adorable and inspiring to see family playing a game! Makes me really wanna start injecting the habit on my own bahaha. Bless you Will and your adorable family and your love for games!

Why do people call these games RPGs? There's no roleplay involved... you're too busy rolling dice to do any roleplay. It's a dice rolling game if anything...
@Ambignostic9 жыл бұрын
Viniter Same reason they call Final Fantasy and similar video games RPGs? It's pretty well established that the term RPG applies to two distinct but related game genres. In both cases, each player controls a character whose particular attributes have an impact on game play. You're right that the "dungeon crawl" dice-rolling genre has little to no role-playing (in the sense of story telling), but at this point I think we're kind of stuck with the nomenclature.

Wil is brilliant. I've dealt with the issue of trying to explain role-playing games to my wife who doesn't play them. These explanations are usually met with her staring blankly, cocking her head slightly, yawning, and asking questions like... Why would you play a game if nobody wins? The idea of using a "cute" game like this to introduce the concept is sheer genius and hopefully will help many spouses , families, and friends of RPG enthusiasts understand the appeal of these games and why we spend so much time (and money) on books and dice. Hopeful... The moment I saw the cute little mice characters, the chaotic evil player within me thought... Bwaahaha, they are so cute. They look just like our cat. How can she resist? This will do nicely (JK). Thanks again Wil! I owe you big time.

Hmm the Fish Hook and Thread is on the first tile under the helmet. Minions can move in water and aren't captured. They are house ruling the hell out of this! But I love you Wil thank you for playing one of my favorites!
@grilledflatbread46928 жыл бұрын
Bought the game. They have several errors in play. To be fair, the written rules are strangely organized. You really need to read all of them instead of scanning. 1) Monsters are not affected by water waves or yellow/red lines. 2) There's no search to recover a captured player. When a player is captured, page counter goes up 1 page (closer to end of game). Player automatically is recovered once enemy minions are dead.
@Peter_Cordes6 жыл бұрын
The "abducted" card says you have to make a successful search to rescue a mouse, but I think the out-of-combat requirement still applies so they definitely got that wrong. (spoiler) They get that right in the 2nd video, but maybe just by coincidence. It still has the full effects of a normal capture, like losing your non-starting items as well as moving up the page counter. They still get *that* wrong in part 2 :/ The water issue makes sense, though. If enemy movement can only follow simple rules, having them get swept away is a bit silly. The Wheatons didn't set out to exploit that, but their game-play did end up taking advantage of it.

Ezareth It is to the most of my understanding that Ryan was legally adopted by Wil, thus meaning that he is Ryan's father but still maintains no biological relationship. That means that Wil is only the step-father of Nolan.
