Great review. Hopefully I will have mine in hand later this week. My only concern with wave 1 is the size of the Cobra logo on Cobra Commander. I really hope that’s not the final version, the logo is way too small.

It is a nice looking figure and I don't mind the articulation because the build actually seems like an upscaled ARAH build for the body. I do think the choice made for the backpack connection is kind of a bummer. It would be nice if the arms could bend a little bit more though. Overall it looks good though, appreciate the review.

I ordered one and looking forward to it. Loved your review. I think I am feeling much harsher, though - for this pricey “ultimates” line, that backpack never should have broken the way it did. It’s a “forgivable” flaw, but Super7 has not positioned or priced it to be forgivable.

The neck joint on mine is so loose that the head hangs down, and the backpack is too tight, as you showed. I hope it's just because they rushed this first release because I ordered most of the others and they look amazing.

This figure wasn't a San Diego Comic Con exclusive though. It was just a limited edition variant available for purchase first at the pop up shop in San Diego.

I’ve got two on the way and decided to collect this line instead of Classified simply because I want those cartoon designs on my shelf. I was 8 when GIJOE launched RAH and I always wanted figures that looked like the cartoon so this is a god send. Good that we have two lines for those who want more toy or modern looks though.

Great review! Man watching the barrel hook snap off as you tried to put it on took me back to being a kid in 1984 and getting the original Storm Shadow for the first time. I couldn't wait to open him and attach all of his accessories but when I put the bow in his hand and then tried to remove it it was so tight that when I finally wrestled it free from his hand the string caught on his thumb and snapped right across the middle! I think I burst into tears and am still scarred to this day so you handled that much better than I did, lol. Always gotta be careful with Joes. At least yours was a clean break at the glue point so can easily be re-attached with a dab of superglue. Otherwise this figure is darn near perfect and after originally deciding to only get the Sunbow versions of these characters I couldn't resist ordering three of these after seeing how awesome this one turned out.

Really wanted this version - but with shipping from Super7 it will come out to almost $75 --- too much to ask IMO especially when that (on a good day) can buy 3 BATs in the Classified line

the thing with "blue" comic versions is that in the comicbooks, they often portrayed black as blue, because else it would just be one black blob on the page.

These are decent figures but the articulation isn’t up to par for me at this crazy price. As a GI Joe collector and one who enjoys posing and playing with figures articulation is key for me. I’ll stay with the classified line and leave these for others to enjoy.

You should give them a try. Certainly some figures have been problematic, but on the whole their figures are amazing

Got two of the BATs and both have extremely loose joints - don't recommend this one maybe the first wave will be better

With all the QC issues, the scale being wrong, and the price being so high especially considering the low articulation and QC issues, that the owner denies exist. I preordered Snakeeye because I wanted another timber more than anything, but with all the arising issues, I canceled it. I bought a ReAction figure on clearance for $5… don’t know if that was worth it. The 5POA Star Wars figures for $10 are decent. The ReAction… not so much. If you’re an inbox collector maybe, but I’m a toy photographer. I need detail, articulation and to trust that my figure isn’t going to fall apart.

Classified kinda gets away with the added articulation because most of the figures are so busy, I feel. In comparision, Masterverse often looks overly mechanical with all those exposed joints. So while I do not agree with some of S7's decision, this one (limited articulation), I can very much get behind. But the crotch piece on this Cobra figure is ..not great. Overall, these came better out than I expected. Just a bit niche, considering how much cheaper Classified is.
