Have you ever tried Boots no. 7 Airbrush Away foundation? It's a bit more pricey for a drugstore makeup at $17.99 but it really does give a soft airbrushed finish and it's so lightweight, you hardly know that you're wearing it. It is buildable for more coverage. I found mine at Target. :)

So I have really pale, dry skin as well. This foundation started settling into my smile lines in the first 30 minutes of wearing it. Idk if I'm doing something wrong but I could not stand this foundation. Which is sad because I really wanted it to work and it seems to for everyone else :(

It's really not bad especially for something less pricey. I like how you show close-ups at the beginning & end of the day.

I agree! And the close-ups are really the only way to truly see what's going on. The cameras and lights tend to make everything look a bit better at a conversational distance than it actually looks in real life - but close-up, there's no hiding from the HD! :)

I didnt have very good luck with this one. I bought Porcelain, but it is the wrong shade for me (almost too dark and too sallow). Hi sweetie. Loved this video! Question. When you were out in the middle of the day, did you just use your cell phone to take that video? Also, during the day, I ALWAYS have to repowder at times throughout the day. Do you do that occasionally during the day for your tests? Just curious. Thanks hon!! XXOO Beth
@goow7 жыл бұрын
Yep iPhone for that - though I just ordered a vlogging camera, a mirrorless dSLR, Canon M3. But it won't be here until mid-June so my daytime check-ins will be iPhone for a while. Just be sure to hold the phone horizontally and not vertically so the aspect ratio matches your regular video. I do it for my foundation tests mostly, just to show the color match of the foundation in natural light.
@FiftyPlusBeauty7 жыл бұрын
That's great. Do you usually use a foundation primer? Also, for your tests what is the usual way you apply? fingers, sponge, brush? I go back and forth between thinking beauty blender and fingers are best. What do you think?

I just bought this at Walmart and I found a good shade match but it's a strange foundation. I haven't yet figured out how to blend it to get a nice smooth finish. A brush leaves streaks, if I stipple it, it leaves a strange texture. Using a sponge leaves a texture similar to faux painting on a wall. Can't seem to find the right method. :/ It's a bummer since it has decent lasting power. Any tips for blending this out?
@goow7 жыл бұрын
I use this one with a damp sponge - have you tried different primers?
@helpfulnatural7 жыл бұрын
Yes I have used a primer and a damp sponge. I will say though that I've watched a few other video reviews of this foundation where they had some of the same issues. Some used it without a primer, some with. I've only worn it once so far so I'll have to make some changes, then when I find the right combo, I'll need to WRITE IT DOWN! I'm so bad at remembering what foundation works with what primer, etc... Lol!
@helpfulnatural7 жыл бұрын
Well I tried this Wet n Wild foundation again today without a primer, applying a thin layer of argan oil on my dry skin instead, which works really well with most of my foundations. It applied smoothly and evenly but it accentuates all of the texture on my face! UGH!! I think I'll just move on now... LOL! At least I only spent $6. bucks on it! I'm interested in trying the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse foundation. Have you tried it/video'd this by chance? If so, what are your thoughts? Thanks! P.S. One of my rescue cats chews electrical cords! We go through a lot of aluminum foil! :O

omg electrical cords!!! :-O I tried the Dream Liquid Mousse before I started filming reviews, and did not like it at all and gave it away... but I don't remember specifics. Next time I see a good Maybelline sale I'll pick it up and try it again :)

Cool! I've watched more than a few video reviews of it trying to narrow them down to the ones using it on dry skin. The finish looked pretty good, at least from my side of the camera. Yay for WnW for putting skin tones right on the front of the bottle! If they hadn't have been on there, I would have gone for Porcelain just out of habit. I got Shell Ivory because of the Fair/Neutral and it's spot on! I haven't worn it yet, but I'm hoping to. I don't wear foundation for long periods of time, so this should work great. RN my fav foundations are Tom Ford Traceless and Guerlain Lingerie De Peau BB Cream. Needless to say, $5.99 is really exciting! LOL!! 🤗

Hi! I was wondering.. at the end of the video you showed your chin and it looked very dry.. It that the foundation seperating, is it the dry skin.... I had this exact same thing on my upper lip and chin after 3 hours or so with the urban decay all nighter foundation, wich I love! Any advice? I also have freckless (A lot!) and it works pretty well for covering them up. Love the videos! xxx from Holland (the Netherlands)
@nataschavalkenhoff6978 жыл бұрын
It also itches btw after 2 hours.. I heared you say you have that with matte foundations. I had no idea that that was because of dry skin 😂
@goow8 жыл бұрын
My chin is usually the foundation separating - and I do get the same sort of thing on my upper lip sometimes. My skin isn't super dry in those spots, but one thing I've started doing recently around my nose and upper lip is, after I cleanse/moisturize, before I put on any makeup, I use 1 drop of beauty oil (any will do - I've got a Korean beauty oil, and a regular argan oil, and a couple others - they all work fine). I rub that in around my nose and upper lip and wait at least 5 minutes before putting on makeup (usually a little more - I put the oil on before I get dressed, then go get dressed, then do my makeup). It has really helped to stop foundation from doing that strange separation thing on my lip and around my nose. I've also heard that using a dry beauty blender instead of a damp one to apply the foundation helps, but I keep forgetting to try that!
@goow8 жыл бұрын
Yes! The more dry my skin gets, the more I itch. My whole body is dry skin and when it's not my face, I can just slap some lotion on and it is immediately relieved - but there's not much you can do when it's a full face of makeup! Some foundations I just can't wear in the winter because the dry air plus a drying foundation makes me itch after a couple hours.

let me start by saying awesome video! But I have a question how in the world do you go in between hair colors so fast purple and now red ombre I love both of them but I'm just curious how the world you do it sure your secret thanks
@goow8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Brenda! Part of the reason all of the colors are working is because that bottom half of my hair was bleached to near-platinum blonde. My natural color is the dark brown at the roots, and while I did dye that top part back to my natural color (for lower maintenance, since it happens to be in style now!), the bottom is still all working off of that bleached base. So I initially had the blue, and when I added purple, it was just a blue-purple. I did the purple a few times and eventually all of the blue was gone and it was all purple. Then for this, it's actually more of a magenta color than it shows on camera - but all I did was put a semi-permanent red on top of the purple. So it turned magenta. I kind of like the magenta, so next time I will be trying to mix red and purple to come up with a concoction that is similar to this color! It'll continue to work as long as I don't try to go lighter. If I wanted to go back to lighter colors, I'd have to strip all of this color out and start back at the bleached base.

I bought this expecting to not like it! I tried it one day and didn't like it for some reason, I think I didn't do my full skincare that day. I told my older daughter to try it, so why she was trying it, I decided to put it on half my face and went to look at it in bathroom light and was really surprised how good it looked! So I put it on my whole face and told her we'd have to share cuz I changed my mind and decided I liked it hahaha. I've worn it over my other foundations lately. I don't wear makeup for a full day normally tho so not sure if it would hold up on my face for 10 plus hours. My dry skin and not so smooth skin is pleasantly surprised by this. I'll def wear it to family functions that I know my mom will be snapping pics of us all:) oh I went to the movies w my girlfriend a few weekends ago and my nose was running so bad so I tried to get the running under control without jacking it all up. Holy cow it took it all off in one spot lol thank goodness we were in the dark! I had forgotten the powder so yeah that looked silly but oh well. I'm actually off to go get a lighter shade for me (nude ivory, neutral) and give her the first one I got. (Soft beige)
@goow7 жыл бұрын
LOL @ nope we're sharing! The nose struggles are real, especially for allergy season! It's kicking in so early here in Virginia that I had to film my next foundation fest this week - because I'm going to be doing powder-only I'm afraid as my allergies get worse. I won't survive not blowing my nose. I am laughing at the visual of the movie theater runny nose - because my solution wouldn't work in public, either! I usually plug my runny nostril with a tissue :-D That way it doesn't mess up the foundation around my nose.... of course, I can't let anybody actually SEE me like that! Ha!

My cats wreak havoc on my beauty sponges too lol I just picked up the shell ivory shade yesterday and had a feeling I should've grabbed the rose shade too. Their concealer shades are way off. The lightest shade "light ivory" is NOT light ivory lol 😣☹️😂
@goow7 жыл бұрын
I feel like concealer shades don't recognize that they should actually be slightly highlighting vs foundation shades... so if they want to keep consistent names, the formulas need to be lighter in concealer than foundation (so a light foundation and a light concealer meant to go together would actually be slightly different to accommodate the highlight). That definitely does NOT seem to be the industry trend! I wish it was though. It would be much easier to match shades. But most companies don't even go light enough in concealer to be highlighting on fair skin.

This looks just about color match for you. If this doesn't get too dry, I may be able to try it. Have you tried the Too Faced Born This Way? Ulta sent me samples I want to try in several shades. I have two different ELF primers so will try those with it. Ah, you have tried TF. How did you apply it, brush or blender?
@goow8 жыл бұрын
The TF works better for me with a damp beauty blender. I like it but it settles into my lines more than I'd like. It's not drying, though, and this time of year, that's what I need. I've tried both of these Wet n Wild shades since filming and I will definitely be keeping them both. I can get away with either one, though like you said the rose is a better match. For 6 bucks, can't beat it. I've worn it a few times and it's a keeper for a random everyday work foundation.
