I miss Geena Davis on screen! She was the best thing about "The Accidental Tourist." At that time, strangers told me I reminded them of her in that film and that was an awesome compliment. I finally saw the movie, because everyone kept telling me I should. In this clip, Don and Melanie were adorable together and Geena was never classier or more beautiful. She richly deserved this award.

I remember this telecast! All 5 supporting actresses were outstanding; each one deserved the Oscar that year. It was the first award of the night, and I was on the edge of my seat (I think Don & Melanie deliberately dragged it out to mess with people, and heighten the tension). Sigourney had been the favorite to win, but she may have split the vote with her co-star Joan Cusak, as well as with herself in the Actress category. Who knows? I'm happy Geena won - it was a pretty good year in film!
