well.. Pan... I hope you're proud of yourself now... I woke up at 5AM today(Saturday). Then I washed my car at 5:30AM. I have NEVER washed my cars at 530AM in my 41 years of driving. :) (come to think of it, I have also never gotten out of be at 5AM in many, many, many years) 😂 Although... I just discovered that washing the car at 530AM just before the sun came up was really nice and cool. The daily temperatures down here is about 92 to 95 degrees. :)

I’m a relatively new weekend warrior and have to say really appreciate Geist’s customer service. I had a series of email exchanges and they answered all of my questions promptly and in detail. I love how Pan says “dye transfer” and then shows the exact interior, in the correct color, of my car. 😂. Interested in hearing how this compares to Colourlock. Been pretty happy with how it cleans up, but it does allow dye transfer pretty quickly.

No product can fully prevent dye transfer unfortunately. What the coatings do is make the cleaning much easier as there's a barrier between the dye and the leather's top coat. Just like a coating on paint, which protects the clear coat. But the leather coatings do help reduce the amount of dye transfer as the coatings reduce friction. Less rubbing, less dye transfer. And what ever dye transfer there is, is usually super easy to clean off.

I am absolutely loving my experience with the Cayenne S Coupe! What an engine. But boy does it drink a LOT of gas haha. My 911 Turbo S was more powerful yet consumed less gas haha. The Cayenne is a big heavy vehicle, and that big twin turbo V8 engine certainly isn't designed for fuel economy it seems haha.

Yes on all the leather surfaces. Dash, steering wheel, door cars, seats, armrest, etc. I got the leather package so pretty much everything is in leather, including the optional steering wheel column in leather haha.

Thanks for another great review. Adding to my "list" as well as the 3+. How would you compare this and the Gyeon leather shield you just reviewed? The primary differences (besides one being ceramic/chemical bases vs natural) that you would say? Ceramic is longer lasting vs Geist being roughly a year or more?

Ceramic based coatings damage leather finishes and they aren't resistant in wet condition, e.g sweat. Moreover they crack over time. Why people use ceramic on their cars? The answer is that ceramic coating become hard after drying and protect the clear coat. And that's true. The big question: a ceramic based coating for leather will change its characteristics when it is applied on flexible surfaces? The retailesr of these types of coatings say yes. Just because they want to sell their product. But that's not true. Ceramic is ceramic. An apple tree can't provides apricots if someone change the ground😊. It always makes apples. In case of a ceramic coating become flexible after drying, that product, in reality it's not ceramic based and people pay a lot for a different product than they really want. Moreover I have customers who used ceramic coatings for leather and they contacted us to ask for a solution in order to clean the dirt which penetrated through the cracks of coating and fixed behind it. They tried all kind of cleaners and the solution was finally to use a solvent cleaner, which has the disadvantage to damage the top coat and also the colour. All in all GEIST. Repel contains the last technology based on hybrid polymers which has a long list af advantages for leather and leather imitation surfaces.

Hey there...if you have the 3+, we advise waiting a week after applying the conditioner. This allows the conditioner time to penetrate. Then clean lightly using Rapid Cleaner to remove conditioner traces from the surface and then apply Repel as instructed here. Think of it this way - the conditioner is for the inside of the leather - Repel offers surface level protection.

This is sort of off-topic but all your videos that I have seen are always on small sports cars. With the price of trucks today easily breaking $100,000. Is there any chance you could do some with a truck because they have their own issues with washing Surface area and harder to reach, etc. Love your shows I’ve learned so much about washing my vehicle. After applying Geist Repel, when would you recommend to applying Geist Dye & Friction Blocker "top coat"? Would you wait the 48 hours to allow Repel to "fully cure" or does it matter?

After Repel, leave it as is. Repel is way more durable than the Dye & Friction Blocker. So need to apply anything on top of Repel. After a few months, if you want to apply a topper, then you can use the Dye & Friction Blocker. It's not necessary to wait the 48 hours without using your vehicle. But if you can, why not.

Like your show bro but can you look for high quality lower priced things for the majority of people out there not only for exterior protection (like the turtle wax hybrid solutions) and maybe a $18-30 product for leather, this is $55, that's pretty expensive

Hi. Unfortunately, there are times where lower price also means lower quality. You won't find another leather coating that gives you up to 12 months of protection, ease of application, and chemistry that is safe for you and the environment, for less than that. For what it is, $55 is actually a bargain really. If you search for toper tier leather coatings, they are all $55-$70 range, so this is actually one of the less expensive ones. That being said, if you want leather protection, that won't last that long, but at a lower price point, you can get the Geist Leather 3 Minus kit, which gives you 3-6 months of protection. Pan. Really would appreciate a recommendation for a leather softener. 22 year old car, stiff and dry. Light beiger color. Looking at geist, lithium, colourlock. I'll be fine to maintain and condition after. Just need a good oil to help rejuvenate.

If you are applying this Geist Repel, stick to using their Geist leather cleaner. Here: amzn.to/3z4lRRa It's hard to know what leather cleaners from other brands can do to protection, until you test. For example, if you applied a CarPro Leather coating, I would stick to using their leather cleaners as they were formulated with their protection in mind.

Pan, you describe your Cayenne as an SUV and also a coupe. I had always thought that a coupe was a smallish two-door car, a sedan with four doors, and an SUV as larger with many seats/storage space. Can you clear this up?

There are tons of "coupe" design styles on the market. BMW X6, BMW X4, for example, those are the "coupe" variants. So my Cayenne is really called the "Coupe" model, as the regular Cayenne doesn't have the more sporty, sloping or truncated rear roofline, like mine does. There are also 4-door sedans that are called 'coupes' like one of my previous BMW 435i xDrive Gran Coupe M Sport. It as a 4-door car, but compared to the regular 3 series, the 4 series has a sportier designed with a sloping rear roofline, so make it look like a sporty coupe. Do your research, you will find a lot on the topic. I hope this answers your question.

Okay, I am on Pan product overload! So, you sold me last week on Pol Star cleaner and leather star….but saw this and grabbed this set, that has a cleaner too. I have an old lithium hyper cleanse that I enjoyed using with auto hide. So does P&S Xpress work more for all other stuff besides leather, but will work if needed?

@pantheorganizer off topic question: if the weather where I live is 65 F at noon on a clear day, but 45 F as soon as the sun goes behind a mountain, when should I clean my car outside? What's more important, temperature or no sunlight? P.S. Video idea--Car cleaning tips for the lazy and sloppy. You have so much great advice for the fastidious, but I wonder if you had advice for people that would maybe spend 5 mins each week, a bit more time on the first of each month, and a deep clean/protect quarterly.

Both are factors. I would simply avoid noon hours when the sun is usually at its brightest and hottest. You should wash your car very early in the morning, of better yet, as late as possible in the evening. And pick a day with overcast weather, cloudy day, etc. Working in the shade, on a cool surface is second best scenario. Working in a garage or controlled environment being of course number one solution.

You mentioned a Ford Super Duty Ranch… can this not be used on 2024 Super Duty Limited Diamond quilted leather interior? Also, confused, do you use the 3- Kit first, then the Repel?

I don’t know every type of car or leather combination unfortunately. You have to do your research to know if it’s aniline. It’s VERY rare to have vehicles with aniline leather nowadays. Most modern leather is coated (pigmented). Pour a few drops of water on your leather. If it immediately gets absorbed and creates a dark spot, it’s aniline. If the water stays on top, it’s coated leather. No need to use the 3 Minus or Plus kit before Repel. Just clean the leather, and apply Repel.

If you want to apply this one but your car seats already have a coating, how do you remove a leather coating from a different brand? For reference, I used Gyeon leather shield on synthetic leather seats.

You'd likely have to use a more powerful leather cleaner like this one: amzn.to/3KNMah7 And do a few rounds of that, to remove any previous protection. But perhaps Ram from Geist will see your comment and give further insight as he's the leather care expert.

Regular maintenance and cleaning is always best practice. Once you apply this, you only need to do regular cleaning when you see your leather is dirty. After a year goes by, you do a thorough cleaning and reapply a fresh layer of Repel.

You'd know it's aniline if you pour a few drops of water, and if it gets absorbed into the leather right away and leaves a dark stain, that's aniline. If the water stays on the surface, and doesn't penetrate, it's coated leather (99% of modern leather is coated/pigmented leather). And if it's leather or vinyl or vegan leather, it doesn't matter. This product can be applied to all of those types of coated leather.

There is absolutely nothing you can damage with this. Or any dedicated leather care products. This is as simple as cleaning the surface with the leather cleaner, and applying a spray product that as easy as applying a spray protectant on your paint. Have you never applied any leather protection on your leather seats before? I highly encourage you to do so.
