Thank you for the tips! I'm new to doing gel polish at home. This video has definitely been helpful! I just thought I'd share with you that I used a wooden cuticle stick to push off the polish this time. It seemed to be a bit more gentle than the metal this time. 😊

You’re welcome! Yes you can use an orange stick as well! So glad this was helpful :)

I'm new to gel nail polish. I tried the nail clips and found them to be a hassle. I'll try the nail foils or tin foil. The metal cuticle pusher seemed to harsh so i bought some wooden sticks to try. Thanks for the video 🎉

Good idea, foil works just as well. You can try the orange stick but it might take a little longer :)

@@CreateYourSpace_. Thank you. Did you know they have these soak off bowl I found out about them on tik tok they have holes for your fingers you put the acetone in and the cotton just a suggestion

Yes I haven’t seen those but I don’t like submerging my skin in acetone for very long, it dries the skin quite a bit so I prefer cotton balls. I have recently ordered some gel nail remover that you paint on like polish and it crumbles your gel nails with out the use of cotton pads! I’ll upload a video on it when it gets delivered!

Oh wow, this is what I have to look forward to? I got gel polish for a vacation to Oahu, on my nails and toe nails. First time and maybe last time I will have this done. I like how they don’t chip like standard polish, but I don’t like the concept of having to go through all these steps to remove it. Thank you for this tutorial! Js

@@CreateYourSpace_. Ikr?! Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated. Oh I have a question; can I just use a standard nail polish to fill in the nail growth part, then just polish over the rest of the nails, then use Sally Hanson’s Insta-Dry over it until I’m ready to remove the gel? Haven’t seen any vids on this anywhere! Jc

You can layer regular nail polish over gel if you want once they grow out a bit, then use a regular polish top coat as well. But if you want to layer gel back on top of regular polish you have to wait at least 4-6 hours till that regular polish is fully dry. I have a video called gelly sandwich nails if you’re interested in that.

I have so many questions. First off, will Vaseline around your cuticles protect them from the harshness of the acetone while they soak? Secondly, would filing the gel polish off more deeply help the soaking/penetration process go faster? Are you removing this gel polish from your natural nail? I'm trying to find ways to grow my natural nails without expensive trips to the salon. The gel stick-on nails that you cure and cut to your length do an amazing job of protecting my nails and gave them a really good start. I'm only just coming to getting a free edge. So theyre still really short by industry standards, but a good short nail is better than a bad long nail, in my opinion.
@CreateYourSpace_.10 ай бұрын
I have never tried Vaseline around the cuticle but I general rehydrate at the end with oil and have never had a problem. Yes, the more you file off the less polish acetone needs to break down so the overall process will go faster and yes I am removing it from my natural nail which is why I don’t like using a drill to file off my polish (to avoid damage). I have a video on my page about growing out natural nail using IBD gel, that will probably help :)

Does this also work for shellac nails? Also, what kind of container do you have the acetone in?
@CreateYourSpace_.2 жыл бұрын
Gel polish and shellac are actually the same thing, shellac is just a brand. The acetone I have in a in a pump bottle you can buy these at the dollar store or sometimes the acetone already comes in a container like this :)

@@CreateYourSpace_. Thanks for the quick reply. How long do you let the cotton ball with acetone on your nails?

Usually about 5-8 minutes, depends on the polish and how well it’s still adhered to your nails. You can check them and if they don’t look like they are crumbling then just leave it on a little longer

If you have hard gel under your gel polish unfortunately the acetone will remove your gel polish and probably some of the hard gel depending how long you leave it on for. If you want to change the colour I recommend just painting over the existing colour instead

What brand of acetone do you use?? Mine takes several passes…..
@CreateYourSpace_. Жыл бұрын
I use onyx professional 100% pure acetone. I have also used the 100% pure acetone by quo from shoppers drug mart (only available in Canada). Any brand will do but you have to make sure it’s 100% pure acetone. Not nail polish remover with acetone (that’s not enough acetone)

My salon uses a drill to remove the gel. Is this an incorrect method? My nails are always left brittle and start to break each time I get shellac.
@CreateYourSpace_. Жыл бұрын
Usually salons will use a drill because it’s faster, they don’t need to wait 5-10 mins for the acetone to soak. I don’t like drills because they damage my natural nails. It’s not necessarily incorrect just more harmful in my opinion. You can ask your salon to use acetone next time (not magic remover, that is also very damaging, but specially acetone)
