Gel Press Printing with Homemade Stencils from Glue | Do they work?

Creating homemade stencils from glue is a fantastic way to add intricate designs to your crafting projects. Follow these steps to master the technique:
Prepare Your Workspace: Set up a clean and flat surface to work on. Place a piece of wax paper or parchment paper on the surface to prevent the glue from sticking.
Choose Your Design: Select the design you want to create as a stencil. Keep in mind that designs must be connected to work best for this technique.
Sketch the Design: Use a pencil to sketch the design onto the wax paper or just play and draw intuitively. If you sketch first, this will serve as your guide when applying the glue.
Heat Up the Glue Gun: Plug in your glue gun and allow it to heat up fully. Make sure to use a low-temperature setting to prevent the glue from becoming too runny.
Trace the Design: Carefully trace over the pencil lines with the glue gun. Move slowly and steadily to ensure precision. If you make any mistakes, you can quickly peel away the glue while it's still warm and start again.
Let It Cool: Allow the glue to cool and harden completely before attempting to remove it from the wax paper. This usually takes a few minutes.
Peel Away the Stencil: Once the glue has cooled, gently peel it away from the wax paper. You should be left with a sturdy stencil that you can use repeatedly.
Use Your Stencil: Place the stencil onto your desired surface and secure it with tape if necessary. Then, apply paint or another medium over the stencil using a brush or sponge or grab your gel press and utilize the stencils after applying a thin layer of paint and pull with paper!
With practice, you'll become more confident in creating stencils with a glue gun, allowing you to add personalized touches to a wide range of projects. Experiment with different designs and techniques to unleash your creativity!

Inspiring as always Peg and characteristically gracious of you to use the remaining stencil posts to benefit your cohorts at Facebook (I don't use it myself, otherwise I'd be there too :) I love how your glue stencils give you a great 'outline' print of the design itself -- I find those prints to be frequently less than successful with regular stencils because so much of the paint stays onto the flat surface -- using a line to print a line -- what a concept! Did you use a low temp or high temp glue stick?

I have a high temp glue gun and the sticks package reads suitable for low, medium or high temperature! Hope that helps!
