Shel, I had to laugh when you said you had the problem of your drawings coming out elongated when you drew flat on the table. I had the same problem , especially drawing faces, until I realized it was because I had my reference upright and my paper flat. I call it the Modigliani effect, lol. Love this piece and have incorporated your method into my paper piecing too. Thanks for the insight.

Well, you did reach the 10,000 mark...now you are way above that. Congratulations for your success! I even learned more on this vid than on the other one. More about your style of collage work. Yay! I have already ordered the teflon covered scissors and the Arteza water brushes with the red centers, which are now available on Amazon as well. I’ve been using the Stabillo black water pencil and have several in other colors as well. I love outlining things too, to bring dimension to things I draw or paint. Or collage. BTW, you really encourage me to try collaging hand drawn pictures or focal points. The deli paper works in so many ways! I hadn’t thought of using it to draw a subject on to then fill in with collage papers! Wonderful. Thanks for being there/here, Shel!

Great job as always.......I’ve been using Strathmore black canvas paper for the outline around images....I stick image down on canvas paper with double sided tape and then cut around edge...thick or thin ...so you can vary thickness of the line.....Always appreciate that you take the time to do voice over on your videos instead of sometimes very annoying music.....so much more informative and personal. Loving catching up with all of your previous videos. I have a question regarding the stabilo all pencil? I have a set of Derwent Inktense pencils which are soluble but then become permanent when dry. Why do you prefer the stabilo to the Inktense Outliner or Ink Black?

The Stabilo ALL is just very water reactive...I never get a halo of the pencil line like I sometimes do with my inktense. However, I generally use the stabilo as my last layer of shadow and then highlight with Posca white...so I don't need to worry about it not drying completely water proof. For a mid layer, the inktense is awesome!

You mentioned being concerned selling your art after using stencils that might make it copyright infringement, but I was wondering about the photo of this bird, and your sea turtle and octopus in your other commissioned work. Are the reference photos either your own or from a photographer who gave you permission to use them? If not, it's copyright infringement.

Thank you Jan. I use photos from a royalty free site and those are for reference only. My drawing doesn’t come out looking like a photo. Different then using a stencil.
