I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE THIS VIDEO! I am in the middle of painting a giant octopus on the floor in my kids' room. I totally forgot about the rubbing alcohol technique. I've used it with sharpies and plates and baked them. I just splattered it all over my painting and it looks so awesome now. Instead of stressing about each sucker's details, I used the lid to my acrylic paint and dabbed it into my diluted white paint. I never throw ANYTHING that has a crafting potential away! I'm running out of places to put my craft supplies.. lol Keep up the great work and awesome videos. BTW.... I WATCHED THE WHOLE VIDEO.

I think those suction cup things are called suckers. I just took all the grandkids to the Newport Aquarium in Oregon just 2weeks ago. They have an octopus in a tank that's in this cave-like structure. Looked a lot like your art today. And the tip about collaging on the deli paper!!! Priceless!! Thanks for sharing.

Shel C Liking my Binder Rings more and more. Sure, it looks loose and weird when the book lays open and flat--but at least it WILL lay flat, right? Also, the freedom of being able to remove or replace or rearrange the pages is nice. Got a super messy process to use on a page and don't wish to mess up any of the other pages? Simply remove the mess page and work on it separately. :) I love my binder rings!

I absolutely love this and I'm sure your friend did too! Wonderful video! I have been painting on canvas with acrylics but have an interest in Mixed media. I am interested in doing sort of a vintage paper background which I will paint over and then paint a large flower with acrylics over the top. I have tried to glue the printer copy black and white images to 90lb mixed media paper 9x12 with Golden Matte medium gel. The MM paper buckles and the image copies get a lot of bubbles that have to worked out a lot. I have put heavy weight on the MM paper. Once it dried the bubbles were gone but the paper since buckled. Do on need to work on canvas panels or have you found MM or watercolor paper that works well? The ink from the copy paper also doesn't hold up great with putting the seal on top and bubbles reappear during this process which I did after the bottom glue had dried as I felt the ink would smear more if done at the same time. I would love your advise on copy paper, what printer you use, & MM paper/canvas panels? I plan to cover the entire bottom layer in paper on some of these projects with no paper or canvas showing. Thanks so much! You are an awesome artist. Just found your channel.
@pmb50056 жыл бұрын
And what type of glue is best for these projects? Napkin decoupage, regular Golden Matte medium, etc. Have you used or heard of YES paste? Thanks again! Priscilla
@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio6 жыл бұрын
Hi and welcome to my channel :) My preferred medium for collage is Liquitex matte gel medium. I apply it with a stiff to both the substrate and the back of the paper and then go over the top of the paper as well. When using a large piece of paper I use a old plastic gift card to smooth out bubbles while it is still wet. As for inked pages..if you use a inkjet printer the ink is not waterfast. If you need some that is, you can get laser copied versions at a copy center. I usually do my large mixed media collage pieces on canvas or cradled wood panels. I hope this helps and have fun with your collage!
