@Nick-sx6jm2 жыл бұрын
They would 100% be okay for deer. First couple deer I took when I was 8 was with a 22-250 because of the low recoil and how accurate I was with it. I know that just some standard federal 55gr blue box will kill deer quickly at 20-225 yards so these would do even better.

Hmmmm... using the .300 Blackout 150gr Gold Dots, I could add another 100 yards to the max distance I'd be willing to harvest a deer from, assuming that I am able to find a load that my rifle likes. The current ammo of choice (.308 Winchester Federal 150gr Core-Lokt) I limit myself to 300 yards endure enough velocity to achieve reliable expansion. At about 400 yards, the bullet would be reaching the energy lower limit I have chosen to limit myself to. I'm impressed with how well these bullets have held together at the velocities you tested them at. Excellent job, good Sir!

To me, this is the exact reason I only hunt big game with solid copper, bonded or partitioned bullets. These thin walled bullets such as the eld series from Hornady and the GameKing from Sierra just don’t hold up. They don’t do all that bad in gel, but when they hit bone they completely blow apart. I don’t want a complete energy dump in my whitetail or elk. I’d like to save as much meat as possible and have complete penetration. I’m a Barnes guy, but also really like the GoldDot, Accubond, Partition, InterBond, A-Frame, ect….. Now, if I could only get more primers, so I could shoot more. I went from shooting 1000+ rifle rounds a year to maybe 100 conserving what primers I have left. Makes me sick 🤕

Ended up losing a 400+ lb bear and 3-4 hour track jobs on deer. All of them were in the sweet spot for impact velocity at around 2600-3000 fps but they just didnt seem to expand at all. One buck I took at 350 yards with the 257 entered at the last rib and came out right behind the shoulder with a 257 dia exit and zero blood to the point I was just about to give up before I stumbled upon it. So I stay away from anything copper because partitions, accubonds, or even eldx's give much better terminal performance and I dont think lead frag is really an issue with anything other than varmint bullets.

I am curious as to how they would perform in my AR350 legend riffle with a 16 inch barrel. I currently do not have any reloading equipment yet so I am asking before I go out and buy a bunch of equipment and powder and stuff so that I know what to expect and what I should be using to start down the road in reloading my own ammo.
