@lawrence1md me too! One of my favs. I have 3 😂. I think I want to sell the 1st gen clog pruf as it has more blade feel then the gen 2.

Agreed, love a good apple pie and same with lemon italian ice. This brush can hold lather for a week of shaves.

Thanks for pointing out the difference between Gen1 and Gen2. You could be right about some of the 600k development cost went to marketing. The early ads are fantastic.Especially the one " It's like having a barber in a box" And this Lilliputian barber wearing a white uniform is ready to pop out of the case with the razor and give you a barbershop shave. 60 years before Photoshop was invented.Great razors and fascinating history!

I have a chrome Micromatic with the the back bumps on its way to me, and just pitched an offer on a brass Micromatic too. I seem to be falling into the Gem rabbit hole...! Just what I needed. :)

Awesome shave and video John! I was unaware there is a gen 1 and a Gen 2 with the micromatics. I agree with you at the end about people getting a non dimpled ones. Have a good one!

@cdinvt that’s great you learned something new. These old razors sure get confusing! So many similar yet different models.

I tend to like more aggressive razors. Have the R41 and Mercur Futur and probably nick myself less as I tend to be cautious. Have a couple open combs also.

I just picked up Apple Pie and Blueberry Muffin. I got Jordan’s sampler and all were amazing. I’ll be getting the whole collection over time.

@dan_00 I bet that blueberry muffin is good! I want to try the lime and new vanilla bourbon next. They also just came out with splashes!

I dunno man, I shaved with that yesterday and it was pretty dam aggressive for me. I've tried a closed comb bullet knob and it was super smooth. Gotta try it again once my face heals.

@jaronpope which version did you try? If you are new to Gem razors I won’t BS you. They are more aggressive feeling than DE for sure. They have a very unique feel to them. Really try to ride the top cap and lift it off the face just a tiny bit to find that sweet spot.

I have a couple, or so, of each of those. I had to go check for the dimples. Yep, they're there. But only on my chrome ones. The flying wing and G-bar had them too. I don't have a Clog-pruf 😢 yet. Try putting a Schick injector blade in your Micromatic. They just fit, and clamp down fine. AGGRESSIVE. at least to me. How come the GEM junior 1912, has a longer handle than the regular one? What makes it a junior? I have a couple of those too.

@brandynpetersen8017 it seems only the Micromatic Open comb had the dimples/no dimples as that’s when they were offering a double edge blade with no spine that needed the blade angle fixed with the dimples. I have used an injector blade in my clog pruf. I couldn’t tell much difference but a side by side shave would be more informative. Maybe I’ll try that one day. I should also try an injector blade in my flying wing bullet tip to see if I get any more efficiency out of it. The flying wing and G bar are both too mild for me but I like the unique looks they both have so I decided to keep them. I’m going to sell a clog pruf(12 nib), a micromatic OC, damaskeene, 1912 squat head. Making the listing any day now. If u compare the 1912 and junior side by side the Junior head is a little smaller and looks different. The Junior Shaves smoother & more mildy than the 1912.
