I have chatgpt plus, and even as a relatively heavy AI user I was blown away by that Gemini 2.0 launch. It's so much better at understanding videos and images, and the context length is so much more usable to the point where I'm actually using it over gpt40 for a lot of cases, especially those involving videos, audio and high context length I'm also super excited for the native image output since that would be a game changer for editing

I wonder how many people have actually tried this before being blown away by it. I find it incredibly frustrating. It never seems to want to actually do anything - it spends to much time repreting back to me what I've just asked it and confrming that's what I want that it forgets what it was meant to do in the first place most of the time. Then it spends agest apologising when I get annoyed with it, before going on to do exactly the same thing it just apologised for over and over again. It's infuriating

There are areas chat gpt is better and areas gemini is better. Don't be fooled by this fluid conversation. Both chat gpt and gemini, have vision problems, problems at prioritizing memories of what has already being said. I have not yet decided if it is vision mostly or comprehension. I think it is vision. I think AI needs eyes and a body. I don't think it really sees by being fed images and video. It needs raw environmental data. Too bad about the sensitivities of the developers , of the public and of the regulators. I know, of course , very well that these are not sensitivities. The general public and the regulators do not want to know what is coming and wishes to be left alone. When they take momentary glimpses of what's coming they panic and ask from the regulators(who are not better themselves) , to investigate and take safety measures. We are talking this kind of indifference. People only care where their genitals are, if x country will prevail over y country over a specified z area. People care about Islam, Christianity , Budhism , atheism. People care about science or think that they do . People care about the environment , of the animals and people or think that they do. People give too much significance to their obssessions and fail to see the bigger picture. This is why any danger from AI will come only and exclusively by us. We think of our every day activites as a game. We take nothing seriously. I hope we don't pay a very high price for this.
